Tasty but over-priced - Edit
Although the food here is very nice, I was expecting either more inventive and interesting food or bigger portions.

Amazing place! - Edit
We went to the allotment after hearing so many good things about it. When I first looked at the menu I felt a little underwhelmed but thank god I was patient.
Read moreWe got the sharing platter which had a little bit of everything - all of which were amazing. The highlights were the tofu, the battered cauliflower and the meatballs. Although, the soup was amazing too. Perfect amount for 2 and was good to try a range of different things!
Delicious, fresh and aesthetic!
Pros: Amazing vegan food, Cauliflower!!
Cons: Pricey

Could be more imaginative - Edit
This place is the premier vegan Restaurant in Manchester, and the food is good and all vegan which is great . However, the menu is a bit uninspired for the price. Many of the menu is standard vegan fayre for a home cook, lots of Deliciously Ella style recipes. I can't justify the price or get too excited about this menu. However, the vegan fish and chips is a must try.

Nice but expected more from the food - Edit
The decor and setting is beautiful and I love that it’s all vegan, however I was expecting the food to be better than it was for the price unfortunately. I would go back and try other bits of the menu though as I liked the vibe. I tried the tofu steak on the Sunday Roast menu and it was really different and interesting.

Good value & tasty - Edit
Nice to find a vegan eatery with a menu not loaded with junk. This place is how vegan restaurants should be. The food was innovative, tasty, good value for money & located very close to the centre of Manchester. Staff were friendly & helpful. My omnivore lunch-companion was equally impressed with the food & its value.

Loved it - Edit
Gorgeous place, food was amazing, really reasonably priced for the quality of food. My non vegan friend is still banging on about the spicy cauliflower, we went to the theater after and she was telling random strangers in the queue 🤣 It was pretty damn good tho, we'll be going back.

Nice plot - Edit
The Allotment is a pretty place with a limited but interesting and desirable menu. A romantic meal for two we could have chosen a better place as the atmosphere was perfect
Read moreSan Marzano £6. Charred San Marzano tomatoes served with grilled peach,
asparagus and pine nuts, drizzled with a basil emulsion. Tomatoes were full of flavour and the peaches supported them wonderfully. With the asparagus and basil flavours it rounded the dish off nicely. A lovely starter.
Miso Maple Mushrooms £6. Mushrooms marinated with miso and maple served with crispy shallots and garlic aioli. I can see why everyone raves about this dish in reviews. Simply put - a perfect starter.
Tom Yum £13.50. Thai-inspired broth, packed with fresh chilli, ginger, kefir lime and Lemongrass. Served with traditional vegetables and Soba noodles. It was spicy delivering a punch matching any Thai restaurant. A star dish.
Tofu Laksa £15. Salt and pepper tofu served in a Malaysian style spiced coconut curry made with chillies, ginger, lemongrass, coconut milk, tenderstem broccoli, pak choi, beansprouts and courgette noodles served with rice and poppadoms. The sauce had a tremendous depth that I last tasted in Malaysia. Really well done.
Bryne Estate, Woolpunda, Australian Chardonnay 2018: £22. It was a straw coloured but complex Chardonnay well suited to the dishes above but not quite the Tom Yum.
Would I recommend? Yes, it’s a real treat
Will I return. Even with all of the 100% vegan places to eat, yes I will.
Great place, super food with a warm and personal atmosphere.
Pros: Interesting and desirable menu, Romantic place, Amazing flavours

Not as good as I expected - Edit
The Restaurant and the seating is very nice. The toilet could have been cleaner and the bin for the towels was overflowing. The Service was friendly and nice, but really slow. The food was tasty but I think they used some Sort of Lemon pepper in some dishes which was a bit too much.
Read moreThere was also something missing but when we asked for it we recieved it in a Minute. So thats Not a negative Point as this can always happen.
I might go there again someday but there are many other vegan Options in Manchester which I Like better.

Mediocre - Edit
Great staff here, super cocktails, gorgeous decor. Just avoid the food. Broccoli from the small plates arrives cold and raw. Mushrooms were good. Laksa is bland and lukewarm. Tom yum, luke warm, tasteless. Sticky toffee pudding, stale. 114 quid altogether. Best avoided.

This vegan fine dining gem is the very best Manchester has to offer. Chef’s kiss dishes prepared for maximum pleasure. The presentation, the innovation, the palate titillation…all next level. We are talking Last Meal brilliance here.

Yummy and colourful meal - Edit
I had dinner here with my 11 year old son. The food was tasty and my summer bowl was colourful and tasty. The "fish" of his fish& chips dish was too strange for him so I got to have that tasty and novel food too. Great for any informal meal

Left disappointed - Edit
We were disappointed with our dinner - half of what we wanted wasn’t available from a small selection menu ( we don’t expect a large selection but it’s the same menu every day so we would have expected nearly all to be available especially considering we had a table at 7.45pm on a Wednesday) which was disappointing to start with.
Read moreThe tofu skewers were tiny and we barely had a mouthful each and the risotto was pretty tasteless and overcooked.
Note - it’s very rare we leave a bad review for anything but we think this place needs to up its game. We fed back to the kitchen but didn’t hear anything back.

A bit plain - Edit
I'd heard amazing things about the allotment and I was a bit disappointed. I got the vegan platter to try lots of things and thought the food was nice but nothing super special. Some of the food was a bit bland. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious - would definitely recommend that.

Options for everyone's taste in a welcoming environment - Edit
The new location in Cathedral Gardens is a nicely decorated, non-pretentious, welcoming place. Although the restaurant is small and was fully booked all the time, service was impeccable and friendly with a personal touch. The menu has options for everyone's taste and everything looks prepared with care.
Read moreAs a first course - I rather call it 1st course instead of 'small plate' to avoid confusion about the portions - we had the San Marzano and the cauliflower wings, the first one was light and delicious, the second one well prepared and tasty but rather filling. As mains we had the Tofu Laksa which had the delicate real flavor of Asia and the roasted salad. As a Desert we chose the Hazelnut Slice and the Affogato. I wish I would have stayed longer in Manchester, because I'd certainly have returned to this little gem and try the other dishes.
