Healthy vegan food - Edit
I’m usually not a fan of vegetable noodles or similar foods that are versions of “unhealthier” food, but this place knew how to balance taste and health. I wasn’t convinced by many plates on the menu but the ones we ordered were great

Great starters, average Sunday roast - Edit
The miso mushrooms and cabbage starters were both excellent and really full of flavour. Unfortunately the Sunday roast was a little bland. It seemed more like a ‘vegan option’ roast you’d order in a standard pub. It was ok, but there wasn’t really anything exciting about it.

Extremely disappointing☹️ - Edit
Me and Dad were so excited to try out this place but from start to finish it let us down! First off we were waiting for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and from there it continued to go down hill. Our server was a kind girl but obviously extremely stressed and anxious. The food was some of the worst I have ever tried at a restaurant, I have had 5 times better at spoons. We both ordered the aubergine burger and it was practically raw aubergine with no flavour and drenched in oil. The chips were also soaked in oil and it was an extremely small portion. I hate to leave a negative review on a vegan business but I will not be returning here☹️

Great Sunday Lunch - Edit
We visited Mcr recently and had been looking forward to trying out The Allotment. We opted for the Sunday roasts and it didn’t disappoint. Great sized portions and good value with the 2 courses deal. Service was excellent and really helped with food allergies, making recommendations via the chef of amendments they could make.

Hit and miss - Edit
The first time I ate here the food here was amazing - everything I tried was delicious although I think the broccoli salad would've been nice warm with a cold dressing. The whole thing was cold which I wasn't expecting however it was still delicious. Miso mushrooms and curry were very tasty, I definitely would've recommend this place for a nice meal out.
Read moreUnfortunately the second time I ate here the food was pretty disappointing. The tacos were very sweet and although the celeriac steak was nice, it was pretty basic.

Really good food - Edit
We opted for the tapas to share a few different dishes. These tapas were full plates though and very generous portion sizes.
Read moreWe tried the Cauliflower wings, chargrilled cabbage, miso maple mushroom, tex Mex jackfruit bao buns and the bhindi curry.
The cabbage was the surprise hit of these. However the cauliflower wings are a must.
We finished it off with a trio of cake which consisted of red velvet cupcake, brownie and a vegan scone with jam and cream. The cupcake was really good as was the scone.
All in all this was a great meal and would definitely recommend.

Amazing vegan food - Edit
Lovely vegan food!! Perfect for a special occasion. We went on a Sunday night and it was virtually empty. Service was good and the interior of the restaurant is nice. We shared two starters (including miso mushrooms which are amazing) and we got the winter sharing platter (would definitely recommend) and we shared all three desserts (the sticky toffee pudding was lovely)

Anniversary Afternoon Tea - Edit
We visited The Allotment to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and were excited to try their vegan afternoon tea. Sadly, it didn’t meet my expectations, especially after seeing some nice photos online.
Read moreThe sandwiches were bigger than I expected and had hummus and avocado, which aren’t my favorites. The cauliflower wings didn’t really suit my taste either. On the bright side, the cakes and scones were delicious and definitely the best part.
Even though the food wasn’t exactly what I hoped for, we had a lovely time. The weather was nice, so we sat outside, and the staff were really friendly, which made the experience better.
Overall, it was a pleasant visit, but the options weren’t quite to my taste.
Pros: Lovely Outdoor Seating, Friendly Staff

Mixed Experience - Edit
The venue was really nice and inviting, but the service left something to be desired.
Read moreFood: The small plates were indeed quite small, and you’d need at least four to feel satisfied. The tofu Laksa was a highlight, even though they had run out of rice. They kindly substituted it with flatbread, which was a nice touch. The dessert was lovely and a great way to end the meal.
Service: Despite the restaurant not being busy (only three tables of two), the staff were not very attentive. It took a while to get their attention for dessert and the bill, especially once a party of ten arrived.
Overall: While the food was enjoyable and the atmosphere pleasant, the service and portion sizes were disappointing for the price. I’m glad I tried it, but I wouldn’t rush back.
Pros: Tasty food, Lovely venue
Cons: Small portions for the price

Afternoon Tea - Edit
I came for a birthday afternoon tea with my Mum. The Cauliflower wings were a great addition to afternoon tea and the cakes and scones were delish 😍 the sandwiches however were all quite samey as they all had the same salad filling with only one slight difference between each sandwich, some more variation would have been nice. However for £16pp we can't complain!

Tasty Vegetable Based Dishes - Edit
Went here for dinner whilst visiting Manchester, and it was lovely! We tried a couple of the small plates and it was refreshing to eat some veg-focused dishes for a change. Giving vegetables their time to shine!

An allotment at the cathedral - Edit
Wonderful room besides the lovely Manchester cathedral. I had a starter: Tofu skewer, which was really good and tasty. The main course was celeriac steak with asparagus, mash and a green dip. To much gravy for my taste, but worse the money.

Afternoon tea - Edit
We had a vegan afternoon tea - the highlights were the (just baked) scones and cauli wings. We were so full afterwards and it was a nice variety of sweet/savoury.
Read moreThe sandwiches were a little dry and the bread didn’t taste super fresh. It would have been nice to have more varied fillings - it was guacamole and salad or cream cheese and salad.
Reasonable value at £16 pp including a hot or cold drink.

Good delicious food - Edit
It was delicious, I had the dumplings, alongside a strawberry ice cream. these were both gluten free and vegan. The dumplings were kind of sweet but still delicious, and the ice cream was great for a sunny day. The restaurant itself is kind of hard to find, but its nicely designed. would recommend :)

Really poor food - Edit
The Bombay grilled cheese somehow was burnt and soggy at the same time and barely any filling said it to the waitress and got a new one that was the exact same
Read moreThe celeriac steak was also poor the mash was a weird texture and the steak itself was flavourless and it came with no sauce
The only postitve was the plant balls which were average but much nicer than the rest
