Not vegan or even vegetarian “safe” - Edit
We knew going in vegan was not likely so we asked our server about vegetarian options and were told our meals would be prepared sans animal ingredients. Sadly, the rice was cooked in animal fat. Additionally, we sent one meal back b/c it came with the egg we were assured would not be there. To top it off, they didn’t take anything off the bill for their error. While the food was “okay”, we certainly left dissatisfied and will not return. Just beware that their advertised “vegetarian” options may not really be what you receive.

no discernable flavor, not sure if our dinner was vegan - Edit
my husband and I went here with our family last night, and finding something to eat was certainly akin to experiences most vegans have had before. I read reviews from a while ago which indicated that there was a vegan menu or at least a vegetarian/vegan section of the menu and that wasn't the case when we got there, my 90 year-old grandpa mentioned it was under new management or ownership as of recent so maybe that had something to do with it? when we explained we're vegan, our server first said there was fish sauce in all the food, but just a little, and then when we said we didn't eat any he said everything on the menu was made with fish sauce but that the cashew and sweet and sour stir-fries could be made without. it seemed a little random to us, especially since those two items were next to each other on the menu and we saw a bit of panic in his face when we told him we wouldn't eat anything made with fish sauce. this concern was only deepened for us when he then claimed that the egg rolls were made without egg and when we asked him to double-check he came back almost immediately confirming there was egg in the wrapper as we suspected. we each got the cashew stir-fry, which wasn't so much of a stir-fry as it was a plate of broth with steamed tofu and vegetables. my husband and I realized only a few bites in that there wasn't any chili, soy sauce, or anything to add flavor out on the table, and it was also the first time we had been to a Thai restaurant where we weren't asked how spicy we wanted our food when placing our order. looking around, it seems to us that Thai Ruby has their clientele figured out - lots of folks who live in the Villages were at other tables, and I'm sure seasonings aren't familiar to their palate.

Cons: is it vegan? who knows!, no chili, salt, lemongrass, galangal, or love

Tampa’s Best Thai - Edit
My Choice for Thai in Tampa! This place may be my favorite restaurant that isn’t completely vegan. Always good portions and amazing flavors. Tons of vegan options with tofu…I always recommend the Amazing Sauce with tofu which is probably one of my favorite meals. Staff is friendly and can designate vegan stuff easily. I’ve had many of their items and they have never failed me. I do 100% recommend their banana ice cream dessert. It’s made from coconut milk I’ve cream and comes with these tasty banana chips and banana sauce. 100% vegan and probably one of the best desserts I’ve also had. Cant recommend this place enough and probably the best Thai I’ve had in Tampa.

Yum! - Edit
Really good Thai restaurant with lots of vegetarian options. If you let them know you’re vegan they will make sure you are ordering something that will work.

Tasty Tofu - Edit
When I placed my order for the Amazing Tofu, the waitress was nice enough to ask if I was vegan, and brought out a vegan soup for a starter for me. The tofu was good, the peanut flavor was nice. I asked for it hot and it didn't come out too spicy though, I'd definitely ask for it Thai hot if you really like spicy.

I love Thai Ruby! - Edit
Thai Ruby has lots of vegetarian/ vegan selections with tofu! The servers are great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. I love panang curry but it's not on their menu with tofu. They always make it for me anyway! They are very respectful of vegetarians.
