A spin-off of a meat-serving Thai food restaurant. Their non-veg venture, Sweet Basil, moved to a larger neighboring location and turned the original location into a vegetarian restaurant. Vegan items are clearly marked, and has a vegan dessert. Previously named Basil Cha Cha Vegetarian Bistro. MAY 2015 REPORTED SHUT BY COW AMBASSADOR.

Cool place by the bay.

I have been there a number of times. The food is good even without trying the fake meats and seafoods.

This is a great spot for after walking, biking, sailboarding, or kite flying on the bay.

Pros: Good food, By the bay

Cons: Out of the way.

Great for groups

This lovely restaurant is located in one of the prettiest parts of the mid-peninsula. I give their Vegan dishes and restaurant the following ratings (1=terrible 10=perfection):

hole in the wall... good food!

Empty restaurant, tiny space yet delivered some excellent Thai choices and even several "faux" meats like shrimp and beef if that's your thing. Still nice sauces without oyster sauce, etc. I would come back for the inexpensive food!

Pros: inexpensive yet delish

Cons: no curb appeal ;-)

EXTRODINARY

Wow!!! This place is THE place for Thai food. Really could not have been happier- we were half starved when we got off our flight at SFO and looked for the nearest vegan joint. The place is in a quiet neighborhood- very quiet. After grabbing our seats in an empty restaurant, (it was afternoon), we ordered the crab cakes (best vegan seafood I've ever had!), Pad Thai (perfection!) and lemongrass "beef" (super aromatic!) this is one of those gems that you'll remember for years to come.... Make the trip if your in SF, worth it!!

Excellent food

This food is so good even an omnivore could like it. Everything was delicious, and we had a big group so we were able to taste a lot of dishes. The decor was beautiful and presentation was fantastic. Recommend highly!

Pros: excellent food, friendly staff, nice decor

Cons: out of the way location
