One of the best service experiences I have ever had! Still being cautious about COVID, I called ahead and asked about outdoor seating to learn it is not available at Taste. I asked questions about the dining room, obviously making the staff aware of our concern. When we arrived it was clear the staff took note. They seated us at a lovely table in a corner at a window. We dined early and the staff seemed to take great care in not seating anyone at tables nearby. I have never had a restaurant take such concern over my needs. We interacted with 3 staff members and they were all polite and friendly.
The pricing on the 3 and 5 course meals are the same for both Vegan menu and the Main menu. The pricing seemed high to me, but it was an experience. There were 3 options for starter and entree, with chocolate cake, gelatos and others. Once they said vegan chocolate cake, I stopped listening 😅.
I started with the corn soup, which had a bit of tortilla soup hints. My entree was oyster mushrooms and morels, with grilled squash and couscous and dressed with pesto. I’m always amazed at the texture of a trumpet. Some bites were a bit chewy, others were more to my liking. The morels were the star for me!! I could have eaten a whole plate of them. My husband started with a risotto, dressed with trumpet mushrooms and corn. Risotto had a good texture, and creamy with a corn base. His entree was Impossible Meatballs in a tomato sauce and were well prepared, with the right amount of sauce, served with French beans, heirloom tomatoes and charred peppers(slight flavor of heat).
The chocolate cake was the star or maybe the morels(still thinking about them). The cake(also GF)was dressed with raspberries, pistachios and cookie crumbles, with raspberry gelato on the side. Delicious!!
Quaint restaurant. White table cloths. Bar seating available and is separated from the dining room by a pony wall.
