Tandoor

Food in Tandoor restaurant is delicious, no complain about that. But the staff was a little bit annoying. They kept ask us if we want something more... when we wanted one slice of bread they wanted to charge us 110rub. And the most dissapointing thing was the overpriced water. In every decent restaurant they give you glass of water for free, there they brought a water and it cost almost as much as the food, 420 rub.

They sure know their spices

Tandoor was close to our hotel so I went there three times, not a plenty of vegan options there but everything I tried was superb. It is a truly authentic place with Indian chefs and waiters who are all very friendly. The portion sizes there are ill-conceived, if you order, say, a lentil dal and a portion of rice (don’t forget to ask them to substitute butter with vegetable oil for some kinds of rice) it will be too much for me (19 yo girl) and too little for 2 people. In other words going alone there will be a pain. One time the place was very busy and they made my curried beans too spicy (or that’s just what I think, who knows lol), the manager apologized and gave me a complimentary ice cream ball (not vegan of course)... awkward. Diary is abundant (and sacred) in Indian cuisine and they don’t understand easily that you abstain from it. Waiters have Indian accents which may be challenging to understand, they also use Indian names of dishes which is also confusing sometimes, during busy hours they are in a hurry and you might not have a chance to explain yourself thoroughly.

Pros: Great Indian food, verified recipes, Beautiful and comfortable place , Friendly staff

Cons: Lack of plant based milks and vegan desserts , I am not a fan of the loud Indian music, Confusing portion sizes

Delicious food but staff was a bit annoying

The food was absolutely delicious, and there were many vegan and vegetarian options! But the staff was just too much, they were very present, kept asking if we wanted more food. They also really urged us to buy the naan bread, even though we said we didn't want this. And they asked us if we wanted a bottle of water, to which we said yes, which ended up to be 7 euros..

nice curry house

Got To Eat Outside Which Is Unusual For Curry. Nice Food, Especially Starters. Good Veg Section But Beware Lots Of Items Contain Paneer....Even Regular Curries.

Pros: English menu, a, decent portion sizes

Cons: high drinks prices

Best vegetarian food during our trip

Not the cheapest one but the staff is extremely friendly and eager to serve. Little english is spoken and menu is both in russian and in english. We found vegan and gluten-free dishes as well and the dish sizes were nice - we felt full and satisfied after the dinner. Really nice place, worth trying if you are not travelling with a super low budget. The place is easy to find - just besides the Isaacs Church. Locked garderobe was a big plus in our experience! During our one week trip the best vegan/vegetarian food!

Pros: Nice customer service, Tasty food and portion sizes, Gluten-free friendly

Cons: Not the cheapest

Wonderful vegetarian meal

Unfortunately, I only found Tandoor at the end of my stay in St. Petersburg. Even though the restaurant is not 100% vegetarian, the vegetarian selection is excellent. I had the Vegetarian Chef's Special, a feast of about ten different dishes for RUB900, a bagatelle for the quantity of food, not to mention the excellent quality. I thought it was worth every single Ruble as each dish was more delicious than the other. The food was not too spicy and perfect for those who don't appreciate extremely spicy dishes. The staff spoke English perfectly and everyone was extremely polite. Another plus is that this is a non smoking restaurant, something hard to find in Russia. It is located within walking distance of the Hermitage and it makes the perfect spot to eat after a long day at the museum. No doubt this will be my first stop whenever I go back to St. Petersburg.
The only reason I'm not rating them 5 happy cows is because the restaurant is not 100% vegetarian.

Pros: Superb food, Great value, Friendly English speaking staff

Cons: Not 100% vegetarian
