Incredible! - Edit
We dined here twice, for breakfast and dinner. Both times we were equally impressed! Lovely restaurant fit-out, very much leaning towards the natural flora of the island. Menu was Indonesian and Asian forward, with exceptional quality. The dishes were on the smaller side but it is nice to get a couple and try different things. Well executed, delicious food. Lovely venue. Staff are super friendly. Highly recommend and I would definitely return!

Blown away by the food - Edit
Had the most incredible feast at Tanaman plant based restaurant at Potato Head.
Read moreThis is by far my favourite restaurant in Bali! (My second time back to Tanaman)
As a group of 4 we shared the following:
Bayam (spice battered fried amaranth leaf)
Southern fried jackfruit nuggets
BBQ tempeh taco
Sate jamur (mushroom skewers)
Oyster mushroom katsu
Island nasi campur
Gulai style jackfruit padang curry
Balinese cacao pod
Everyone was blown away by the flavours! My favourite is the Bayam & Mushroom Katsu. The food was so fresh and filling.
The service by all of the staff is also outstanding.
The staff even suprised me with a cake for my birthday!
Can't wait to be back again!
Pros: So much choice , Flavours , Price was good for quality

To say the food was incredible is an understatement. Very lucky to have been here. Hosted by the lovely & knowledgeable Kadak.
I’ve read some reviews saying it’s expensive. For Bali it’s on the higher-side, but we definitely wouldn’t call it expensive bearing in mind how great the food is. To have a totally vegan restaurant of this kind is fantastic!
Pros: Incredible-tasting food., Friendly & knowledgeable staff., Ambience and decor.

Exceptional everything - Edit
Lovely location, view, decor and food!
Read moreThe staff were really kind and cheerful and explained the dishes very well!
The mango rujak was lip-smacking with a unique taste of the different mangoes and the tamarind sauce.
The nasi campur was amazing, as were the drinks especially the buah naga and Bali roots cola!
The gulai style padang curry was great as well, although the boiled taro isn't much to my liking. The green tomato sambal is absolutely amazing though!
Would very much recommend one to have lunch here and then head to the adjacent Potato Head Beach club (same owners) for an evening of drinks with a view!

Exceptional food and service! - Edit
My partner and I had a wonderful dinner at ‘Tanaman’ tonight. The food was amazing - we shared dumplings, crispy potatos, nasi campur, chocolate caramel tart and two glasses of red wine. Our server Nayu was so lovely, friendly and attentive. Such a peaceful and stylish aesthetic. Highly recommend and would love to return.

Disappointing - Edit
We went to Tanaman in 2020 and it was amazing.
Read moreWe booked a car and made a reservation thinking we would re-live that experience. Unfortunately not. We left hungry and about $140 AUD lighter.
The food was small and basic and the atmosphere wasn't great as the restaurant was empty.
I really want to encourage people to go here to continue to support entirely vegan restaurants but I can't. It's overpriced and not worth it.
Pros: The waitress was kind and accommodating , Nice cocktail (but expensive)
Cons: Portion sizes , Price , Atmosphere

Not worth it. - Edit
TLDR: we went out of our way hugely to get here on a special night only to leave hungry and pretty disappointed.
Read moreI really wanted to love this place, after all, they do an incredible job selling their menu. Upon visiting, we eye the only people in the restaurant (not a good sign), and it had taken an extra 15 minutes of walking around the beach club until we found it. (Not the kind of crowd for clean vegans…) At the restaurant we ordered all four main dishes, and they were pretty small and largely unsatisfactory. I get that gastronomy is meant to be smaller portions (hence why we ordered five dishes), but this was not impressive in the least compared to the gastronomy of Plant Bistro in Ubud, Secret Spot or even Woods vegan dishes in Canggu. And those places aren’t hailed as gastronomic like Tanaman is.
The waitress was very friendly and clearly trained to chat with customers. It was a birthday, and they served us a not-yummy, break-apart chocolate tart. It was a very kind gesture for Bali (though that kind of thing is customary in the west so 🤷🏼).
All in all, a Seminyak beach club is not the place for this kind of restaurant. They’d be better sitting it down and adding a solid vegan (more robust) menu to their beach food.
For you, don’t waste your time or money going here. There are so many incredible vegan restaurants in bali that will offer a lot more for less.
Pros: Great texture in food, Service, Quiet restaurant setting
Cons: Food not impressive, Overpriced, Hyped menu doesn’t deliver

An absolute favorite - Edit
I loved how each meals play with textures and flavors. As I understood, the chef and her team work with fermentation and dehydration to expand the umami kick.
Read moreFrom all the dishes I tasted, my favorites are the kepala labneh (coconut labneh) paired with some roti (flatbread) and the kenari tart. I didn’t take pictures of everything unfortunately.
The new location moved recently in a warmer area across the plaza.
I’ve been told by the staff that all the dishes for this season are vegan.
Pros: New flavors, THE STAFF! ❤️

Well worth the visit - Edit
We had a lovely dinner here. The menu is a little confusing with no separate sections of entrees and mains, however the very lovely staff will guide you. I wish they just made a “feed me” menu to highlight the most popular dishes.
Read moreWe were not going to order the spinach leaf but our waitress recommended it and I’m so glad she did, it was delicious. We ordered three smaller dishes that happened to be “dips”. Don’t make this mistake as you you absolutely want to leave room for the “fish” and the mushroom skewers. The broccoli was also really nice. We weren’t a fan of the avocado caramel tart, couldn’t quite put our finger on what it was that we didn’t like.
It was a shame to see so many people put off coming in when the staff explained it was all plant based, but seriously their loss.
The head chef is Australian and vegan.
Pros: Lovely staff , Amazing good

Not quite there - Edit
I was so excited to eat here that I made a reservation in advance and ordered a car. I was surprised to arrive and be the only person in the restaurant at 6:30. It was odd to be alone in this huge space. It was freezing. Absolutely freezing and it seemed like they pipe in a scent or use some air freshener that was bothering me. My waiter was very friendly but talked for twenty minutes and I really wanted some water or something to drink. It didn't seem like a good setting for a pricy meal so I left and went to MP which was amazing. I'm sorry I didn't get to eat here but the environment was too freezing and just not my scene.

OUTSTANDING! - Edit
Everything about Tanaman was amazing. Food was creative and delicious and very well presented, drinks were perfect and the staff were all very welcoming, kind and warm. I could fault nothing with this restaurant. It should be on any vegan's must-do list when visiting.
Read moreWe asked the waitress to make suggestions and we let her guide us. The amount of food was exactly perfect. I think we had around eight different dishes and it cost the equivalent of around $130 Australian dollars for two of us.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Pros: Food was flavoursome., Staff are brilliant., Drinks were great.
Cons: Nothing, it was all good!

The portions were minuscule and the prices were high. The food was disappointing in taste. Although the interiors were funky, the place was empty and that should have been a clue.

Superb a la carte food - Edit
We absolutely loved this place. We nearly didn't go due to the description of there being two sittings and them only being open on 2 days a week. Where as its open every day and serves their a la cart Menu and not just taster menu.

The restaurant is in a really unusual setting like a very giant hobbit home.
I'd recommend asking server for guidance with the menu. They chose great options that went beautifully together and paced our meal well.

Cons: Bit pricey (but worth it), Confusing narrative on line

Best food I've ever had ✨ - Edit
Went here to celebrate my birthday and it was the best experience ever. We had a few different cocktails and multiple dishes and they were all super delicious and flavourful.

- lobak (cauliflower type dip)
- dumplings
- sate jamur
- yuba (this one is mind blowing!!)
- kenari tart

Best meal of my life. A MUST for every foodie! Vegan degustation. - Edit
Prepare yourself for a culinary journey of sensory delight!
Read moreThis incredible restaurant serves a vegan degustation where the process for each dish - from the soil in which the organic produce is grown, to the various fermentation and smoking processes, to the exquisite cooking and preparation - are meticulously planned and managed by Tanaman staff.
You will be guided through the tastes and processes of each dish by a Tanaman chef who has poured exquisite talent, care and love into every tasty morsel.
I highly recommend choosing the mocktails over the wine accompaniments for each dish. While the wine is local, vegan, ethical and quite delicious, the mocktails are extremely special created from yet more fruits, spices and ferments made lovingly from start to finish by Tanaman staff. They provide a veritable plethora of flavours and sensations.
The restaurant has strangely clinical stainless steel surfaces juxtaposed fabulously by displays of bright colours and interesting textures of fruits, vegetables, flowers and micro herbs straight from Tanaman’s local organic farms.
Every moment of this meal was an experience and a delight. I can’t recommend it enough. Any and all foodies - vegan or otherwise - simply must experience this restaurant’s offerings.

An exquisite culinary journey! - Edit
Recently treated myself to the nine course tasting menu with beverage pairing and wow was it amazing! Each dish was better than the last and I so appreciated the nonalcoholic options for each course! Everything went so well together and it was awesome talking to the chef, mixologist and the whole team about what went into each course. Some of my favs were the pumpkin dish, the corn lemonade, the mushroom broth and that fish and chips. The use of all parts of the plant, this is the future of food. So amazing.
