Tamales so good & great salsas picantes - Edit
Oh man. The verde and portobello tamales were my favorite. The salsas picantes were also phenomenal. Locals and visitors were all stopping by on a hot day and he was selling out because they were so popular. I think it is not all vegan but the majority of their clientele is vegan. Worth the long walk from your bus/ferry stop/apartment!

Delicious tamales - Edit
Really good tamales, went here three times! One tamale is enough they are very well sized! Tamal verde was my favourite, delicious hot sauces to go with it. Only giving four stars as unfortunately is not still all vegan/vegetarian and they now serve meat, but still absolutely worth visiting

Decent tamales, but they sell chicken tamales now - Edit
It's not easy finding cheap vegan street food here, so it's great to be able to have some tamales. Unfortunately the place is no longer vegetarian as two types of chicken tamales have been added to the menu. Luckily they're in a small, separate steamer.
Read moreWe tried the Mole, Frijolito, Brócoli, and Rajas con Queso. They were all pretty good, but size and flavour varied a bit depending on the day. They also have 1-2 salsas which were needed, and they were good too.
Pros: Cheap, Vegan street food
Cons: No drinks, Very little space to sit, Not vegetarian anymore

Unbelievable homemade vegan tamales - Edit
My biggest regret of the holiday is that we didn't get these tamales again 😭 they are from a little street food cart who makes them all by hand. I got the broccoli and lentil one which was incredible, especially because we ate them on the beach. If you've never had a tamale it's a corn dough with filling that's wrapped in a corn husk and steamed. They are soft and so delicious and these were the best I've ever had.

Good tamales - Edit
Stumbled upon this place walking to another. I ordered from him at the end of his day so he only had one option left. I ordered the verde and enjoyed it. Would love to try others.

Fully vegetarian food truck - Edit
We went here a few times and tried all of the vegan tamales. They last a few days so you can buy extras and warm them up for lunch another day. For only 40 pesos each they are a great price. Our favorite was the verde with spinach corn and mushrooms

Highly recommended
Everything was either vegetarian or Vegan.
Go early because he closes when the tamales are sold out. He’s there every day except Sunday.

Best find in playa del carmen! - Edit
I've been going here every day. The owner is so nice and he even grinds the cornmeal from scratch! Everything is vegan or vegetarian and the tamales are huge, and only cost 40 pesos. One is enough for lunch. I've tried all the flavors and my favorite is portobello.

SCAM-bad owner Eliu - Edit
I was SHORTCHANGED A LOT OF MX$ by Eliu. HE STOLE MORE MONEY THAN THE TOTAL PRICE FROM MY CHANGE. It looked like he is used to doing this. Chancer! He’s quite Perverse, a gold digger. This guy is terrible.
Read moreTheir Tamales are INCONSISTENT and so tiny small. there's not much filling in the tamales. One of the tamales I had was half the size of the others and had only a spoonful of filling. 35 pesos for this??? Same price as the others?? Some are so greasy and/or salty. They use too much oil and salt. 35 pesos for one tamal, which is overpriced for the size and quality.
THEY ARE NOT VEGAN. Vegan tamales are steamed together with nonvegan tamales in the steamer.

Pros: Business smile and sales pitch, Flatter customers, Fluent English
Cons: Overpriced, SWINDLER, DISHONEST OWNER, Fake vegan

Sounds like you have a personal problem with the owner. I've been eating here every day, he's super nice, the tamales are quite big, and the tamales are all vegetarian or vegan (and wrapped in corn husks so the vegan and vegetarian ones don't mix). What a strange comment.
