Serves several vegetable curry options - Edit
Located in Sapporo Factory, Building 3-jo kan, B1 Floor. Serves several vegetable curry options. Nan contains eggs, so choose saffron rice if you are vegan.

an Indian in Japan - Edit
I love Curry. Travelling around Japan for the last 2 weeks meant a good spicy curry was needed tonight!
Read moreA warm greeting from the staff.
The restaurant was busy hence a little wait for the food.
My partner and I ordered the yoga thali & calcutta thali both very very hot.
The food was mild but still tasty.
Pros: staff, mango lassi, naan
Cons: waiting time for food , food bit to sweet ; not hot as expected

Vegans: Don't Bother! - Edit
After a disappointing meal at Jyoti (compared to a year ago) I decided to try Taj Mahal for a comparison. The staff spoke English but weren't the least bit interested in helping with what was vegan - quite a contrast to Jyoti in that regard. They just opened the menu to the vegetarian page and said that the paneer curry had cheese but otherwise none contained dairy; this was despite the fact that one was described as having a "rich sauce" and a picture which clearly showed a yoghurt swirl on top. And when asked further they just pointed to the descriptions (eg "potatoes in a rich cury sauce" and said I could read them and choose what I wanted?! They also suggested a set meal with Nan, which of course is made with milk and egg.
Read moreThey are clearly doing a roaring trade with the locals and aren't interested in difficult foreigners who are picky about ingredients. This was a stark contrast to the Niseko branch, where staff were very helpful, I guess because so many of their clientele are foreign skiers.
Cons: no way to know what's vegan, a long walk through the snow

Smokey and Kitch - Edit
This is the most well-known Indian Restaurant in Sapporo but certainly not the best. It's popularity seems to come mostly from its proximity to the station. There aren't many vegan options and the food isn't very healthy or particularly delicious. The price is average but there are much better places for my money. I don't think much of any restaurant that serves samosas with ketchup.

Cons: poor food quality, not many vegan options, smokey atmosphere
