Vegan Menu! - Edit
On top of a great vegan menu, Taj Mahal has an amazing vegan lunch special (best value) that includes rice, 4 dishes, and bread (ask for the roti for vegan bread option). The chutney sampler that is served with your meal is also completely vegan, and if you're gf, get the papudum instead of bread. It's also vegan. Pro-tip, for extra spice, ask for a side of shakti.

Edible, but definitely not great - no desire to return - Edit
Maybe it had to do with the options we chose, but I am not interested in returning to this place. We have had worse Indian food, but it really wasn't very good. They did have a variety of chutneys and we liked them all except the pumpkin one. The tamarind and mint chutneys were good, but very watery.
Read moreMy husband and I got the papadum and that was good. But, I cannot say that about the rest of the food. We ordered the Dahl, which was a mix of dark and light lentils and while I have had worse, I we did not like it. We also got the Aloo Ghobi, which we think is hard to go wrong with. We were surprised that it also was not very good. There was hardly any potato in it.
It was on the bad side of okay and it was expensive. This was the most we paid for a meal at any restaurant in Prescott.
It was nice that the menu had a vegan section and the staff was very willing to modify dishes to make them vegan, but we figured it might be safer to go with what they normally serve. They did not check on us much, but I am grateful that they were so open to having vegan options.
We have had worse Indian food, stuff that we could not even eat. That was not the case. It was edible. It just did not have a good flavor. The staff spoke English very well, and while that is helpful and less frustrating, we wondered about not seeing anyone who appeared to be of Indian descent in the restaurant, be it staff or customer. Our experience is that those of Indian descent frequent the good Indian restaurants. But then we figured that it might just be timing. We have eaten at a number of great Indian restaurants, but this was not one of them.
Pros: Vegan section on the menu, Staff very willing to make options vegan, Great papadum and chutneys
Cons: Most food flavor was not very good, Staff did not check on us much, Expensive!

Ok and vegan friendly! - Edit
I wish I could love this place. They are open to having vegan groups but for me just ok. Maybe I'm biased because this is my town and I love the way I prepare food at home. Everytime I want to retry them, I end up at Raven for atmosphere. Possibly a place to go to if you need to eat out with others who eat meat

Pricey - Edit
Had the mushroom bahji. It was excellent. Quite pricey for lunch. Entree was priced separately from the rice and n’aan bread. Non vegan lunch companions said that their entrees were delicious. No complaints whatsoever about food quality.

Overpriced - Moderate Quality - Edit
While the portions are small for the price you’ll pay, Taj Mahal offers an authentic, decently delicious menu for visiting vegans. Waitstaff were helpful in pointing me in the direction of their vegan dishes.

Good - Edit
This restaurant has a dedicated vegan section on its menu with multiple good options. It's located in the historic downtown, its decor is nice, and the man who took our order was polite. The only downside for me is that it is a little expensive.

This place has an entire vegan menu section. The waiter was very polite answering specific questions about their batter and side dipping sauces. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this place.
