Tasty and healthy - Edit
This is a tranquil but rather serious place - not in a bad way.
Read moreClientele was on the older side, seemed to have a lot of regular customers.
Staff speaks good English, is supremely polite and knowledgeable.
All of the items we had were very tasty and carefully prepared, on the healthy side but to me not the most typical Taiwanese food.
This might be a lack of knowledge on my behalf, and I’m not complaining.
It was nice having whole grain rice and similar wholesome food for a change.
Pros: High-quality products, Friendly and English speaking staff, Above average wholesome

Filling and delicious - Edit
I got the bowl of dumplings soup and it was delicious. The dumplings are filled with cabbage and faux-meat. I also tried a dessert: some rice beignets filled with something I couldn't tell but it was very tasty and not too sweet. The location is perfect to take a wall in the nearby park after the meal. And the ladies who served me were also very nice and spoke a little English (English menu is provided).

Traditional and delicious - Edit
We ordered the mushroom soup noodles w/ soup dumplings, and my girlfriend said it reminds her of her Taiwanese grandma's cooking. It was delicious, and smelled just like the soup wafting around the night market.
Read moreWe also ordered the tempeh tea oil silver thread noodles, and it was delicious as well. It was the most Taiwanese meal I've had since arriving 4 days ago, and healthy too!

I really wanted to write a good review because the ladies were super friendly. But frankly the food didn't have any taste. The soup tasted like water.

Nothing but love - Edit
The calm and heartwarming atmosphere felt like being wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket. Absolutely loved my first visit - the soup including dumplings was lovely, and the owner (or hostess) was incredibly kind and helpful to me when I expressed that I had felt unsure of where to eat as a vegan - given that I had only arrived in Taiwan the day before.

The owner was very helpful and friendly in helping me choose what to order. I was feeling a bit sick and she suggested a soup that would be good for me. I got the set meal which comes with an enzyme drink, salad, a small side dish and a dessert. The enzyme drink was like a kind of vinegar but I thought it was really tasty! I enjoyed my soup and the rest of the food, too. I probably won’t rush back there but it was healthy and tasty so I might go if in the area.

Healthy spot - Edit
I wouldn’t have thought that this place were a restaurant had I not been looking for it: upon first glance, it looks like a posh tea room from outside its floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The bilingual menu was helpful, but they didn’t have the sushi rolls any longer (probably an old menu item). The set meals sounded like a little too much for what we had an appetite for, so we each ordered an entree a la carte. At first, I didn’t bother ordering the side of green veggies, but after my Chinese toon fried rice came out and I saw how small the portion size was, I asked the waitress to bring out the veggies.
Read moreThe dishes tasted fine to me, although I could see most people would probably find the flavoring on the bland side. My friends really enjoyed the veggie dumplings, as well as the noodle soup.
As I suspected, I was feeling peckish again shortly thereafter, which was annoying. I’ll try ordering a set meal next time: maybe that will be more satiating!
Pros: all vegan, very nice staff, healthy food
Cons: small portions

Super friendly, super tasty - Edit
The dumplings and the fried rice with fresh pineapple and soy skin (and peanut powder) are super tasty. Dishes can be ordered as sets. Try the enzymes-drinks (light sour vinegary 1cl drink made from herbs). The Taiwanese Grapefruit is also amazing. - Very family friendly staff!

The best vegan dumplings ever! - Edit
My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant at lunch hours. Even though the restaurant was empty, it didn’t feel very intimidating to step inside. The staff was nice and fluent in English. The dumplings were amazing! I personally recommend the set so that you can get the full experience (the enzyme drink, salad, dessert were all delightful.) But the dumplings though! Can’t emphasize enough how great those bad boys are.

Very tasty, great staff! - Edit
Our very first dinner once we landed in Taipei. I had the noodles which had delicate flavoring and my son had the dumplings. Both were tasty and we struggled to finish. The staff was very polite and took us even though it was close to closing time. Looking forward to going back.

Simply Satisfying - Edit
This was our first stop as it was closest to our hotel. The restaurant itself is very austere, but the staff are extremely friendly, they also sell food items to take away. I think the concept is on Chinese medicine, we had a lovely stir fried rice with vegetables and some steamed dumplings, plus a mixed plate of cold noodles, veg and tofu, all very tasty and filling.

Pretty good - Edit
It’s a Taiwanese style restaurant that caters more for Buddhists (no onion and garlic). Personally I prefer those flavors in my food. Good prices and food was decent. The ladies who run the restaurant are quite lovely. They also sell dry goods😄

lovely place! - Edit
spent a very nice evening with my friends here!
Read morethe menu is really good value for money! my salad was very delicious! for the main i went with fried pineapple rice as so many people here were raving about it and it's one of my favourites when in thailand, but here it was just ok. it wasn't bad, but not as good as i've had it before. my friend's dumplings were great!
service was great, food came out very fast - a little too fast really as you couldn't finish a course before the other was out already, but maybe that's just how they serve it.
we had the extra room and didn't know that there's a minimum spending. we had to buy a few things from the shop - and i now have pumpkin floss with a lot of my food, ha! keep that in mind though in case some of your friends might not show up - which was the case for us.
Pros: service, value, atmosphere

High vibration food and experience - Edit
Eating at Tai Lai was a welcome reprieve from the hustle of visiting Taipei. The food was delicious, the kitchen is committed to animal-free products which makes for a very positive experience. Initially, we walked right past the restaurant, it is so beautifully minimalist that we barely noticed it.
