Inedible :( - Edit
I so wanted to like this place and support a local veg-friendly establishment but the food was inedible. The mushroom carnitas tasted burnt and the chorizo tacos were soggy and way too salty. Despite that, the staff were extremely friendly and the service was top notch.

Very tasty tacos! - Edit
Definitely a great option for vegans. Maybe a little pricey but honestly I was very satisfied with my order. My favorite was the mushroom taco. Some really interesting flavor combos you don't get anywhere else. Plus the staff was very friendly and fast.

Delicious but way overpriced - Edit
Tacowalla is overpriced by at least 50%. It is priced as if it were in the bustling part of downtown Somerville, as if it were organic, as if it had outdoor seating, as if the portion sizes were sufficient. The Mushroom Carnitas tacos are delicious, but having 4 of these will set you back $30 and may still leave you hungry.

Limited menu. When you order something as vegan they simply remove the queso/creme instead of replacing it with the vegan version.

Reading the menu, was really intrigued by the phrasing and flavor combos. Our experience on the other hand was not one that I'd repeat again.
Read moreWhen looking at the menu there's a few items but the main courses are quesadillas & tacos. We ordered the black magic vegan quesadilla and the mushroom vegetarian tacos. Upon receiving our order we immediately noticed errors. First off, nowhere on the menu does it say that the taco orders are individual. So when we received a singular taco, that was a bummer. The second item was also wrong, as I had ordered a quesadilla and received a taco instead. But alas, we gave them benefit of doubt and went ahead with our meal. Flavors were good but assembly was lacking. For the portion of filling per taco, you'd expect two tortillas so they could hold up but only have one. Which ends with lots of fallout.
As we were still hungry after 1 taco each, we ordered more. This time vegan chorizo taco and the vegetarian potato tamarind taco. But again, they didn't get it right. Notifying us during the order prep, that they had gotten the two switched up.
In sum, just skip this place. Unless you want to order stuff, have it be ignored & given something else. There's plenty of other vegan joints right on this street!

Fast and fresh - Edit
We went opening day. For the amount of people there, they were doing good keeping up with the line. My plate was fresh and tasty. I will and have gone back for more.
