Meh - Edit
Many items have vegan alternatives, which is nice. I had a vegan breakfast burrito and the flavor was a bit bland, even after drowning it in hot sauce. I appreciate the diversity of options, and might be willing to try another item.

Cozy with big portions - Edit
This is a great breakfast joint where friends & family can feel comfortable. I ordered the Cali burrito and just asked for it to be made vegan. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about veganism. The portions are large and reasonably priced.

Avogarden burger - Edit
Minus the mayo, and cheese. Add yam fries, yum!
Read moreAlso recommend the mole enchiladas, minus cheese and sour cream, came with rice and beans with guacamole and medium spicy fresh salsa on side.
Pros: Friendly service, Generous portion even after a split! , Amazing vibe, it’s downtown La Mesa

average tofu dishes - Edit
Had a tofu curry & rice dish and a tofu teriyaki & rice; both came with a side salad and fed the three of us for lunch and dinner.
Read moreThe website sucked and only had a small amount of options with no prices, but a 3rd party website had menu photos, prices, and a few more vegan options.
Curry wasnt flavorful, I had to add our own seasonings and hot sauce; teriyaki rice was better but still not as flavor-packed as we had hoped
Pricey for the amount of low quality food
Pros: Clearly labeled , Side salad was awesome
Cons: Flavorless, Options

Veggie hash and acai bowl - Edit
Guy put butter on my toast, bee pollen on my acai bowl, and possibly cow cheese on my vegan veggie hash plate. Really disappointed in this location because I have plenty of plant based friends that enjoy this restaurant. I said no honey on the bowl and he said they don't put honey on them but they put bee pollen on it!! So much food for the price but honestly will never eat from here again because of the rush and lack of understanding of animal ethics. I wish they would inform all employees on what vegan means so they don't screw up because I called back afterwards and the other guy that answered the phone was understanding and knew all the stuff wasn't vegan.
Read morePros: Cheap for lot of food. Yummy firm tofu. Good potat
Cons: Unaware of what vegan means. Plastic packaging

Ask for vegan options - Edit
They have tofu and vegan cheese that can be subbed into the breakfast hashes. Also the avocado toast is good! I wish they would more clearly mark the vegan options on the menu though

I'm here every week - Edit
I love Swami's. I usually get the Veggie Egg Burrito...sub egg for tofu. I confirmed that the vegan cheese they have is Daiya...I know there were people that said their cheese wasn't vegan...maybe they changed it from then. I also just started getting the Turkey Club with vegan turkey/mayo/bacon/cheese. Soo good.

good acai bowl for vegans but don't get the honey! - Edit
The vibe at swamis is great. The mustache dude at the register is chill AF. They have great coffee and you get unlimited refills with milk alternatives. Their acai and pittaya bowls, and undeniably Encinitas thing, are delicious. Get them without bee pollen/honey if you're vegan!

I had the Swami Salad and it was excellent. Skip the sprouts if they scare you like they do me.

Awesome food and service! - Edit
Great food! Staff, even the busboy was really nice. We ordered a Spicy mock turkey wrap and my hubby got a Veggie BLT. Both were fresh and delicious. Coffee was self-serve, but had 6 kinds and then also gave you an option to take coffee to go after the meal. As the dinner went on, many regular customers strolled in which is a good sign. Good portions and decent prices. Going back for sure.
