Ovo
Take-out
Asian
Non-veg
Serves meat, vegan options available. Pan-Asian restaurant has a separate vegetarian section on the menu with at least four vegan choices. The city isn't very vegan friendly so it's nice to have this as an extra option.

Nice - must book in as busy! - Edit
I had checked Happy Cow prior to my trip.
Read moreThis has good options for vegan and non-vegan. My husband is omni, so there were options we both liked here.
Made a booking for this as it is right next door to Hotel Thon - so not too far to trek in the snow!.
Glad we booked, as people were being turned away. Even during early evening this is popular and full.
Nice atmosphere, dim lighting and waiting staff are really friendly and efficient. They speak multiple languages.
Vegan sushi available plus limited vegan starters and mains.
I had the tofu buns and the red thai curry.
The food was amazing. Be aware though - due to food having to be shipped in to this arctic paradise, it is very pricey. £13 UK equivalent for 2 small bao buns with thinly sliced tofu and a tiny salad is a bit hard to swallow even with their scrumptious hoi sin sauce.
Nowhere to hang coats (that we could see) which means dinets are sat with bulky coats in a small area.
Pros: Red Thai Curry was tasty - pineapple a nice extra, They make their own secret recipe hoi sin sauce, The staff - great service & friendly
Cons: Calm down on the cucumber! , Tromso is generally expensive , Tofu needed seasoning

Tasty options - Edit
A choice of three starters and two mains, plus sushi. The steamed buns were really good. The red curry was delicious but a bit too spicy for me! Could be improved by marinating or coating the tofu

Delicious! - Edit

Good food - Edit
Many vegan options on the menu, clearly marked. Sometimes it’s hard to find good vegan options in northern Norway, but this place has them.
Read moreOnly critique would be that the tofu in some of the dishes was a little plain. Otherwise extremely happy with the selection, and would visit again.

Great choice - Edit
Suvi is a great choice for something different in Tromso. They have plenty of clearly labelled vegan options. For tourists who are on lots of excursions where the only option is reindeer soup or some vegan alternative, this is a great shout. Really enjoyed our food here.

Used to be a lot better - Edit
Suvi was one of my favourite places to eat in Tromsø, emphasis on was. They had great vegan options and everything seemed fresh.
Read moreHowever, now they significantly cheaped out on their food. A lot of the food is simply not fresh but either frozen or from the day before. The vegan dumpling soup uses frozen dumplings from the international store that is around the corner. I can have that at home in better. The avocado on the sushi was so dried up, that we had to ask for a new one. They replaced their "meat" that they used in sushi and other dishes with plain tofu. It doesn't fit.
Additionally, they are not exactly cheap so I expect good quality.
All in all, I do not recommend Suvi in its current state and hope they improve again.
Pros: the strawberry mocktail
Cons: food not fresh, expensive, cheap out on ingredients

Best vegan food in Tromsø - Edit
Ok, this was the best meal we've had in Tromsø by far! Firstly, the service was superb, the ambiance was excellent (dimly lit with nice decor and chill music), and they have a vegan menu. The food was absolutely delicious! I would give this place 5 stars if I could. Highly recommend you eat here when visiting Tromsø! 👌

Making a great place even better - Edit
I have to admit: I really, really like Tromso. It's very touristic, but for a reason. Tromso actually has something to offer: gorgeous nature, wild life and as an extra added bonus cold weather, darkness and Norwegians all around. However, there's one thing I don't like about the Norwegians: their eating habits. Norway is even one of the very few countries that still hunts whales. And the restaurants mainly serve fish (of course not all whale).
Read moreIn Tromso "Suvi" has the best reviews from vegans and for good reason. It's a nice cosy restaurant with friendly personnel. The menu has a significant vegan section of which the red curry was recommended by the staff. It crunchy fresh vegetables and well done tofu in a spicy sauce. It offers a nice variety in ingredients, combined with some white rice. The taste is excellent and the meal was very filling (no starters or desserts required).
A few days later I returned to Suvi to try to stir fried tofu. While not listed as spicy, I experienced as being more spicy than the spicy red curry meal. Again the food was presented beautifully and tasted very good.
After this good experience I decided to return to Suvi again. But no such luck. They were booked solid and without reservations I had to sit at the bar. Doing this means looking out on a display of fish (dead) and I didn't feel that would make for a tasty meal. So I kindly declined, never to be able to get a table again. So: do make reservations!
Pros: excellent taste
Cons: limited seating (reservations recommended), pricey (like most Norwegian places)

Good taste experience! - Edit
These people are pro’s and me and my company were very content with the food. I would give 5 stars for the vegan dishes on their own. Not many (if any?) restaurants in Tromsø have separate vegan and vegetarian menus, but Suvi has!! They took a while to serve our main dish though, in the rush of Saturday evening.
Read moreI ate:
- Vegan Dim Sum (starter): quite fancy! soy mince and veggies wrapped and steamed, good spicing, dipping in soy sauce. Yummy!
- Vegan Red curry: perfect creamy consistency, strong taste, quite spicy yet not burning. Recommended! Ordered without the soy pieces due to allergy, they didn’t have any other protein substitute, so got a bit more veggies instead… still wow!
- Avocado nigiri (also vegan): not the best composition, hard to grab whole without the avokado falling off and the rice splits. So exactly what I did: Split the nigiri in half first, then it worked to dip ‘em in the soy sauce. Still very good avokado and taste!
Pros: Separate vegan and vegetarian menus, Quite good vegan selection, Very good, tasty dishes!
Cons: A bit expensive, as with most food in tromsø, Took a good while to get the main dish (in rush)

Super friendly & helpful staff - Edit
Good vegan and veggie options, clearly marked on a separate part of the menu. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about dietary requirements. We started with spicy edamame & roasted sriracha almonds. Then summer rolls - said they came with tofu on the menu but actually came with mango, still very tasty. We shared the thai red curry (delicious like all the reviews say) and the tofu pancakes (like duck pancakes with cucumber, spring onion, carrot & hoi sin). No dessert for me as the only vegan option was sorbet😒My husband had the fried banana which came like a spring roll with ice cream, apparently also delicious!

The flavors here were absolutely amazing! The summer rolls were great and the nigiri avocado rolls had sesame, which added a nice twist. The nudelsuppe is like a red curry and was delicious and delicate. There is a whole vegetarian menu with the vegan items clearly marked. The staff are really friendly and it felt like a fancy atmosphere - somewhere nice to go out.

Delicious Vegetarian/Vegan food - Edit
Had a delicious dinner at Suvi while in Tromsø. There are not many restaurants with vegan options but Suvi has a vegetarian section in the menu with vegan options clearly marked. The vegan noodle soup is delicious as is the summer roll, also vegan. Also lots of sushi along with hot dishes. Definitely a must if you are in Tromsø
