Disappointed, but hopefully a one-off

Sadly I didn’t really enjoy the sandwich I ordered. It was okay, but wasn’t blown away. That said, there is so much more on the menu, and it is fully vegan, so given the opportunity I’d go back and give it another chance (as the food on some other reviews looks great)!

Nice food and lovely setting

We caught a tuc tuc here for breakfast on our one day trip. We both got vegan bacon pancakes which were very nice and fluffy, albeit quite small. My one niggle would be that the bacon especially could be more generous.
The cafe decor is lovely and if we had known it was also a hotel in advance, we probably would have stayed there.
My husband got a few coffees and I had a latte, it was 10 dollars each which was the same as we paid for dinner both nights in other places, so appears to be the average in Phnom Penh for a nice vegan meal. The owner gave us some recommendations of things to do and was very nice.

Pros: Nice pancakes and coffee , Friendly , All vegan

Cons: Portion size could be bigger

Hey Clare, thanks for coming to Sundays! Glad you got to have a good chat with Darren and got recommendations for the city. We 100% would have given you more of the bacon if you had let us know when you were here!

Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in PP and come and stay with us next time 😉🌞🌻

Horrible

Don’t waste your time or money: The smoothies are way too sweet with refined sugar. The banana cloud smoothie was disgusting. I wish they would state that. The Khmer noodle salad was disappointing. I try to support all vegan places but this place was so disappointing.

Pros: The vegan croissant was decent.

Cons: smoothies too sweet. , Food is bland and just not good.

TamsinRoseC

30 May 2024

Hello lovesongs,

In our Banana Cloud Smoothie, the protein powder contains a very small amount of sugar however, I’m sure that what you are tasting is just our very ripe bananas and a drop of vanilla essence.

I would like to clarify that we are not adding refined sugars into our smoothies, the other smoothies that do not have the protein powder contain zero refined sugar and are made with 100% real fruit, that we buy and prepare ourselves. There are no pre-made bases or flavourings.

We are passionate about using high-quality, real fruit & vegetables in our smoothies and our food.

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy our Khmer Noodle Salad, it’s best eaten when it’s mixed very well with the vegan fish sauce and mushroom paté mixed through it. As you ordered through a delivery app, we didn’t get to tell you that like we do with our in-store customers. Perhaps this is why you felt it was bland as our vegan fish sauce is bursting with flavour.

Glad you enjoyed our croissant, happy to hear you support vegan businesses, we do hope you have time to stop by in-person, let us know if you do 🌞

Teeny tiny coffee

The so called blueberry pancakes could use some actual blueberries. One of the pancakes literally had 1 blueberry in it. The grilled mushrooms were only half cooked and seemed like dry seasoning was added after cooking so the were coated with uncooked dry spiced. As noted in my title the iced coffee was laughably small. (Maybe 250 ml) The cup is adorable though

THE CAULIFLOWER BITES WERE AMAZING. I would eat these every day all day

Today I ordered the Nom Pang and it did not disappoint. Delicious. Excellent texture. The cauliflower was amazing as always.
I stand by my statement that the iced drinks while delicious are too small especially for the price.
PS I love the recycled cartons as packaging for the cups

Updated from previous review on 2024-03-09

Pros: The cauliflower bites, The hot black drip coffee, Nom pang

Cons: The grilled mushrooms

TamsinRoseC

09 Mar 2024

Hi Caryn, thanks for your review, we're sorry about your blueberry pancakes, I can assure you that isn’t correct and they should be filled with blueberries.

As for the mushroom skewers yes, they are marinated, then grilled and then coated with a toasted dry spice mix.

Our take-away iced coffee cups are definitely an optical illusion and they are 360ml (12oz) as printed on the bottom of the cup.

Glad you loved the sticky cauliflower bites & the batch brew, they are a house favourite. Please DM me on FB or IG (@sundayscambodia) I’d love to send you some blueberry pancakes to apologise.

Loved it!

We stayed there for 2 nights in November 23
The staff is very friendly, the room is beautiful and we get one free coffee from their menu in the morning, it's a nice gesture!
We tried different food there and we loved it. Their special coffee are also very good I recommand you to try 😋
They have also some board game!

Though, the food prices are more expensive than other vegetarian places in town but it totally worth it

Pros: Food is yummy, Friendly staff, Beautiful room

Do yourself a favour and go here!

This place is amazing! We stayed here for two nights and we were so disappointed we couldn't stay longer. The design of the rooms/restaurant is great and I loved how everything was thought about to the last detail. We only managed to grab breakfast and a croissant here, but it was fantastic, if you can get the Khmer breakfast bagel I would 100% recommend. I also really enjoyed the Thai milk Boba.

Tamsin and Darren were great hosts, and very helpful in suggesting things to do and see.

Pros: The food, Design , All vegan

Flavorful brunch food!

Came here three days in a row and tried 6 dishes, all of them delicious!!

Any day of the week

I can’t really say enough about how great our experience was both staying at Sundays and eating there. Darren and Tamsin were warm and welcoming, taking the time to chat to us, give us advice on things to do in Phnom Penh as well vegan stuff in town. Our room was cool (both literally and figuratively) and huge and up there with expensive rooms in boutique hotels I’ve stayed at in big cities; and, while it’s a little bit fancy, at less than $120 a night it was a fraction of the price. We ate regularly in the cafe and the menu and food were amazing, with standouts being the Khmer noodle salad, the corn fritters and the cauliflower bites. Plus they have croissants! It was great to just be able to sit in the cafe with a drink or a snack if I felt like resting or needed to do some work. The upstairs section was perfect for this and I whiled away an afternoon up there with my laptop and a drink or three. Come here for a great stay, a delicious feed and lovely hosts.

Pros: Delicious food and nice cafe space, Cool accommodation, Warm abd friendly hosts

Lovely food, ambiance and owner

This place is near the Russian market and we regret only discovering it on our last day in Phnom Penh. The food was amazing - we got the Tom yum sandwich and noodle salad. They even did vegan croissant which was super tasty! The drinks menu was very extensive. Darren the owner was so friendly and shared his story with us. It is beautifully decorated inside and even has accommodation - we wish we had stayed! The place has only been open 8 months but Darren and his team have done a great job. 100% recommend.

Yummy Khmer latte

I’ve been here a few times whilst in Phnom Penh and I’ve found it to be consistently very nice.

The Nom Pang baguette was delicious as were the cauliflower bites.

I wasn’t a massive fan of the Samlor Korko noodles but I think this was personal preference rather than there being anything wrong with them.

The passion fruit soda and Khmer coffee are also both delicious.

Friendly staff and a nice environment. I sat and read my book in here very happily.

Delicious

One of the best we’ve had in se Asia - the Tom yum sandwich and breakfast bagel are crazy good then we had the pandan waffle for dessert which was really tasty. Staff are friendly and food comes fairly quickly. Came to $19 for the two meals and dessert, slightly pricey for Cambodia but worth it as a treat even if you’re on a tight budget.

Pros: Tom yum sandwich , Breakfast bagel , Food was full of strong flavour

This place is vegan paradise

The food here is unparalleled, we ate breakfasts, lunches and dinners at Sundays and were never disappointed. The menu is a creative blend of Khmer cuisine and classic home comforts, we loved the Samlor Kormo noodles, classic Nom Pang baguette and adored the pandan waffle and pancakes as desserts or for breakfast. Drinks are a stand out too, they have specialty arabica coffee (iced or classic) and a wide range of juices, smoothies, cocktails, mocktails, milkshakes and craft beers.
To make this place even better, Sundays have a vegan hotel on-site too, with four absolutely beautiful rooms for guests. Everything is vegan with eco-friendly furniture, repurposed materials and a feeling of a really luxury stay at an affordable place.
Sundays is an absolute MUST visit when you’re in Cambodia! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pros: Exceptional all-vegan food, Cambodian meets western cuisine, Beautiful cafe and hotel

Incredible food and lovely staff

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Whether you’re vegan or not, if you’re staying in the city you absolutely must go!

The menu has a great mix of Asian flavour and Western dishes. My partner got a noodle dish and I got the tom yum club sandwich - portion sizes were epic and realistically we didn’t NEED dessert…. BUT the reviews for the waffles were so good that we just had to try them 👀😅 Well worth the food coma that ensued, they were every bit as delicious as we hoped.

We also both got coffee which was delicious - they serve oat milk which is like goldust in Vietnam so that was a huge treat.

The staff were all sooooo welcoming, attentive and friendly. We got chatting to the owner who was so lovely and kind enough to give us some tips for the remainder of our stay.

The venue itself is lovely, if we had a longer stay I could definitely have imagined pitching here for a couple of hours and chilling with a book / sketchpad and ordering lots of coffee / snacks.

TL;DR - you must go😄:)

Pros: Fully vegan menu! , Epic food and coffee!, Lovely venue and staff!

Cons: NONE

Stunning space, great vibes, great food

Tamsin and Darren have created vegan heaven in Phnom Penh. We stayed one night upstairs in the suite to give us enough time to try as much of the menu as possible! We tried almost all the small plates, a few mains, the waffle dessert, the highly popular breakfast bagel, and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and it was ALL delicious. My favourites were the cauliflower wings and the samlor korko noodles, but the breakfast bagel is a must. We're headed to Siem Reap next so we got a couple of the Nom Pang baguettes to-go. They look awesome too. Tamsin and Darren were also super kind, helpful and knowledgeable so all in all if you're in Phnom Penh and don't go to Sundays then you're nuts.

Tasty familiar dishes with an asian twist.

We have visited twice in our few days in Phnom Penh and it delivered both times. A well thought through menu taking classic western dishes and enhancing them with asian flavours for example gorge waffles with pandan flavour and coconut ice cream and a Tom yum inspired club sandwich.

Staff are very friendly and attentive. We met the owners when we were there who are very passionate about their business and veganism. Feels nice to support a genuinely vegan establishment.

There are board games and good wifi and the space feels very bright and welcoming. Can tell lots of thought has gone into the interior and making it a nice place to spend some time.

Also does a very nice iced coffee and they have freshly baked croissants.

Best vegan food in Cambodia

I highly HIGHLY recommend Sundays whether you are vegan or not as the food is 10/10, the space is so chill and relaxing, all the staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming and it is really reasonably priced.

The menu is a really interesting mix of Asian and Western flavours and everything we tried was delicious, it's clear that a lot of thought has been put into each dish. The tom yum club sandwich is incredible - the bread is buttery and toasted, the fillings (tofu, aubergine and red pepper) are cooking amazingly, and it has all the big flavours of tom yum you would expect! Honestly it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The noodle salad is also very good, huge flavours and very well presented. The pandan waffles are another success, so light and fluffy with citrusy, and served with smooth and creamy coconut ice cream, so so good. The coffee is also great, both the filter coffee and the ice coffee.

The cafe itself has huge ceilings and a full wall of windows making it feel so light, airy and relaxing. The colour scheme works great and the plants make it feel like an oasis of calm, there's also some board games (catan, risk, scrabble, etc) to play. Even the bathrooms are so modern and clean and well stocked.

The staff are amazing, so friendly and attentive whilst maintaining the relaxed atmosphere. The owners also are so friendly and have clearly put so much thought and passion into their vegan business. No single use plastics or disposable napkins, everything is reusable and sustainable, including individual towels to dry your hands and free water in glass bottles!

I could go on and on about how good this place is, but just it a visit for yourself and experience some delicious vegan food, have an amazing coffee and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

Pros: Food is fully vegan deliciousness, Friendly and welcoming staff, Relaxed, open, airy and light space
