Nice view

Tourist place, decent food but nice view from the roof on the stupa. I went to this restaurant in 2017, maybe it's different now.

Nice view, ok food

I liked that the food was simple, but it was missing a bit more flavour. Great view though!

Good choice!

at Boudha stupa you have great view over stupa. This vegetarian restaurant with vegan options. Even they don’t have a lot of vegan options. But their set up menu with small options of portions are VERY TASTY! My dad and I ate there lunch. We choose one vegan plate menu. We are already full with one plate for us both.

Pros: Very tasty, View over stupa

Cons: Not a lot of vegan options

Comfortable, food is ordinary

I took the vege burger expecting a burger, I got two buns and lettuce + tomatoes in between, with a small side order of fries, for 7 USD. So I took also a side dish of chick-pea which was as everywhere else, as expected.

Pros: Comfortable and nice view of the stupa

Cons: Expensive and food is ordinary

Still friendly, dependable, homestyle food

My first meal at the Stupa View was in 1992, and amazingly it has changed very little since then (unlike just about everything else in the Kathmandu Valley). One thing that has changed (for the better), though, is more vegan awareness: the menu here now clearly labels vegan items, which is very helpful and much appreciated. There's even a multi-course vegan sampler meal that's generous enough for two (or one VERY hungry person).

The focus of the menu is simple, homestyle Nepali cooking, which is reliably satisfying. They also try their hand at a few other cuisines, such as a local take on "Thai" curry, as well as some middle-eastern flavors.

It's worth noting that special precautions are taken here to protect the health of their guests, including soaking raw/uncooked items in iodine solution. (Really *all* restaurants in the Indian subcontinent should do this, but very, very few actually do.)

The proprietors are gentle, friendly, and helpful, and — true to the name — the views from the rooftop terrace can't be beat.

Enjoy!

Great Veggie & Vegan Restaurant!

This was by far our favourite restaurant in Boudha. The food is very tasty and fresh (not sure what the previous reviewers meant!) Lots of options from snacks like hummus and chappati, to lager meals like Dal Batt and their Vegan's Delight thali compete with baked apple pudding. The staff were super polite, friendly and helpful, would happily offer extras like a side of tofu, that wasn't on the menu. They spoke excellent English too. It's the nicest veggie/vegan place in Boudha, we tried the others as we're disappointed! Make sure you get the right Stupa View - there is another one that stole their name and isn't as good! It's not the cheapest restaurant but you pay for the premium site next to the amazing Stupa, with tables inside and outside on the roof. It's not super expensive either, we were happy to go there early every day for lunch and dinner. They don't have any breakfast options as such but did make us toast on request that wasn't on the menu which was great. If they offered scrambled tofu, fried potatoes and tomatoes with toast for breakfast all our vegan dreams would've come true! But as it is we loved this place!

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, Understand veganism, Delicious food

Cons: Stairs only, as with most of the area, No breakfast options as such
