Had the impossible handcake for breakfast and came back to have the chickpea steak platter for dinner. Both were very tasty & reasonably priced for DC!

Great Vegan/Gluten-free Options - Edit
This restaurant has become a must visit whenever we are in DC. One of the few vegan places that you can get satisfying vegan breakfast food anytime of day that they are open.

We tried the Buffalo cauliflower and the chilaquiles. Very tasty. Came back the next day for round two but there was a line out the door (whoops). Reservations recommended.
Came again Oct’22 looking for breakfast. Ordered scrambled tofu, potatoes, chard, and impossible sausage. Wow they do a really good job on the scrambled tofu, the potatoes are amazing, and the chard was the best I have ever had (buttery and garlicky). Looks like they are offering gourmet artisanal vegan blue cheese in there deli display. Yum!
BTW it looks like they have merged there FARE WELL cafe into their other brand STICKY FINGERS. So don’t be alarmed if google, or maps show Fare well as permanently closed.

Yummy! - Edit
We had trouble picking from a wonderful menu, and went with the tofu Benedict, the barbecue chicken sandwich, a shake, and a piece of Boston cream pie cake! The seitan is homemade and well done, flavors were balanced, good diner food!

Incredible Brunch - Edit
If you're looking for an all vegan brunch, you've gotta try this place! They are often busy during brunch on the weekends, so reservations are recommended, but they do have bar seating as well. The Florentine Benedict is probably my favorite item on the menu. The Seitan and Waffles is great too. They also have a ton of great desserts. I don't recommend take out because the food doesn't travel/reheat well. It's worth sitting down to enjoy a great vegan breakfast. One thing to note, they do add a 20% tip automatically to your tab, but the system prompts you to leave an extra 20% as well. Keep an eye on that or you might wind up tipping 40% on your meal.

Delicious!! - Edit
We ate there 2 days in one week, everything was delicious. Try at least the Ruben, croissant, tofu, cookie, peach cake!
Read moreThe staff is super friendly but the first person that received us was terrible, we saw they charge a 20
% tip and with that service, I was ready to go.
Than I called a girl to help us, that I discovered was the manager and she was great! The rest of the staff is great
We know how hard it it to have great people working, and I’m here to say that the food totally worth it!
But wouldn’t be fare to give 5 stars because the first 10 min wasn’t good.
I would definitely come back!

Delicious but pricey - Edit
Food was very good and they had an impressive bakery case. They add 20% service charge to every order, but you order from your phone. I have T-Mobile and did not have any service inside. The wifi they offer to guests did not reach our booth (located near the restroom) and someone sitting at the bar recommended I stand closer to the register. The other customer also said "yea their wifi is really spotty in here." Since I had to stand near the register for my phone to work, they manually took my order for me.
Read moreWe ordered two Reuben sandwiches, one side of Mac n cheese, and an order of pierogies (which is only 4 pierogies) and it was $71 total.
Even though it was expensive, the food was delicious so we ordered some "grab n go" food to take back to the hotel for dinner. We brought with us an Italian sub, pastrami on rye, pasta salad, tuna salad, cowvin cookie, German chocolate brownie and a red velvet cupcake. That order came up to about $65.
Pros: Plenty of cakes, cupcakes, brownies, Tempeh, seitan, whole foods, lots of variety , Indoor seating
Cons: Expensive , Limited parking

Good food, zero service. Don't expect a nice dinner at a restaurant - Edit
I am going to preface this by saying two things: 1.) This is the first "bad" review I've ever left on Happy Cow 2.) The food here is good but get takeout instead of eating in.
Read moreWhen my husband and I planned our vacation to DC one of the things I was most looking forward to was eating at the Sticky Fingers Diner. I'd been to the bakery several times on previous vacations and was super excited to try this place.
We went there for Sunday morning brunch excited for a nice meal with table service. We arrive about five minutes after they open and are seated at a table outside. We get to our table only to find there is no table service. We have to place our order using an app. So the first 20 minutes of our meal is spent with one of us scrolling through the menu on our phone while the other stares into space and then the next person stares at a phone while deciding what to order. There is no conversation about the menu, no waiters to answer our questions. Instead there is an app.
Meanwhile, the outdoor patio has plants hanging over it. Normally I would think that was really cool, however, I suspect they were watered just before we arrived as we spend the entire meal with the plants dripping water onto our table, into our water glasses, onto our plates. The HVAC system is also incredibly loud and when it's on it's difficult to carry on a conversation.
This is such an unpleasant experience that by the time I've done scrolling through the menu I'm already soured on my nice brunch out. I had originally planned to order takeout of several desserts but this is just not fun at this point. So I stick with pancakes and my husband gets the benedict. We eat quickly as soon the food comes. And then leave.
The food is good but in such a bad environment it is not at all enjoyable.
Meanwhile, Sticky Fingers has decided that a 20% tip will automatically be added to the bill for eat-in orders of all sizes. Normally I tip 20-25% for table service and 10-20% for takeout service. This meal doesn't qualify as table service. We spent maybe 30 seconds while we were there - a hostess seated us outside and then a bus boy brought our food out to us. I don't think this even qualifies as counter service.
I'm not saying don't order from The Sticky Fingers Diner. I am saying just get takeout. You are not going to have an enjoyable restaurant experience, you'll have no interaction with staff and your living room is probably a more enjoyable atmosphere.
Pros: The food we got was good
Cons: No waitstaff, you have to order from an app, No service from staff but charged a 20% tip, Dripping plants, loud HVAC, terrible atmosphere

Really good $25 Reuben - Edit
The reuben was actually $16, but with tax, a 20% “service fee” and tip, my sandwich was $25. It was a great reuben but not worth $25. Not sure if one is supposed to tip on top of service fee, but I didn’t notice the fee until after payment. Also annoyingly, even sitting at table, you are required to order and pay online. Sandwich was really good, though.

Ok - Edit
Ordered delivery through their website -didn't realize until after I had sent it that it was so expensive because they added a required $7 delivery fee, required 20% service charge, plus user defined driver tip. Yikes! There were very fair priced items ($5 for soup, $5 for a huge "basket" of fries) but some expensive items ($16 for 4 perogies over spinach, 16.50 for a burger no fries).
Read moreMeatball sub was ok- bread was a little hard and chewy.
Was really excited about the broccoli and cheddar soup, which smelled amazing. Unfortunately, there was so much pepper in it that's all I could taste.
We love brussel sprouts, which don't need much to be flavorful and delicious -i think they tried to do too much with them.
Food came fast. They also have pantry items for you to make your own &baked goods, entrees, sauces, etc.
I'd try again next time I'm in the area considering past good reviews maybe we just hit a bad day
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Food came fast
Cons: Expensive, at least for delivery, Much of the food was disappointing

So good that we even invested! - Edit
No kidding -- the food is that good. From the hard-to-find, creative breakfast items like Benedict Florentine and delightful pastries, to the equally hard-to-find vegan poutine and charcuterie, we were so happy to find this place, that we looked into how to invest in and support it. (You can support Fare Well/Sticky Fingers' efforts, too, by looking up the small business bonds they're offering on TheSMBX.com and betting on their continued success with as little as $10 until Jan. 12.) We also said to one of the managers, PLEASE, please consider opening a location near UMD in College Park! Yes, it's that good!

Slammin! - Edit
This place is top notch. So many excellent choices and everything is so well done. I still think about the fact that I passed up a vegan Benedict that day, but I was really feeling a salad and I ordered so many other yummy things that at the time I didn’t miss it! I will be back for it though, don’t even worry.

A variety of mediocrity - Edit
Decided to try this out for a date night after reading it was 100% vegan. There were plenty to choose from with all-day breakfast options, appetizers, entrées and desserts. We decided with the fried wings, bbq sandwich and toona sandwich.
Read moreWhile these items all consist of the same primary base of chickpeas, there were very little to differentiate between each; the chickpea fried wings had the same presentation as the chickpea steak. The only underlying differences were the toppings used for each item. This was worsened by the fact that they all had the same, bland taste. The similar tastes is to be expected as they were made with the same ingredients, however, nothing was seasoned in the slightest, albeit a hint of black pepper. The only flavors to enjoy came from the sauces; specifically the buffalo sauce. Even then, the buffalo sauce overpowers the food, becoming the star of the dish, while the others do little to compliment the food.
Overall, while the portions were rather generous, it was exceedingly overpriced for the quality of the foods offered.
