Beautiful place, but little food - Edit
I’m a heavy eater, so as much as I liked this restaurant, having small plates made it less attractive to me.

Feel good food. - Edit
4.5 stars, tbh.
Read moreCinnaroll was fire. Almost croissant-like pastry.
Mac n Cheese was a bit expensive, but didn’t taste like store-bought boxed Mac. A bit of seasoning on it to give a unique flavor. It’s dry-ish. Not creamy.
The Bagel Sando with eggplant bacon was surprisingly fire.
They have some GF options and the cheese was Nut-Free.
Coffee was eh and they carry a big selection of Kombucha.
The pastry display was a large enough selection to entice me to return.
The vibe is like one of those played-out white people markets that sell soaps and crystals, which isn’t much of a bother (and the plant-trade is a cute feature), but the lumineers / shrek soundtrack / Zach brown band music selection is honestly so bad that I recommend just ordering to-go.

Good breakfast sandwiches - Edit
The breakfast brioche sandwich and the bagel sando are good and filling with a nice layer of cream cheese. Both come with vegan egg. Pretty good selection of vegan pastries.

Love this place! Food is delicious, service is wonderful, close to the beach! More on the healthier side but that does not mean flavor is compromised!

Hard to believe it’s vegan - Edit
When I first read the menu I thought, “there is no way this is vegan!” But it is! I had the brioche breakfast sandwich. My daughter had the grilled cheese and the power green lemonade. A delicious indulgence. Gluten free buns and bagels are also available. The space has a beautiful market as well, with unique and cruelty free items and gifts.

Great Vegan Eatery Down By The Beach Boy!!! - Edit
Loved the food here it was delicious and very clean. If you eat Engine 2 diet or Dr. McDougall this place is a great option. Not greasy like other vegan restaurants. I had the Nachos and Kale Yeah salad! Very filling and satisfying!!! I will be back every time I'm in town

Good food and nice people - Edit
Ordered take out from them for lunch, though mostly a brunch menu. Had the pizza bagels and the sausage sandwich. We were happy with both! And the staff was lovely. A bit slow but I think that was just a Covid staffing thing.

Short handed :/ - Edit
Stopped here for brunch with the hubby after a busy morning. We love being able to support vegan restaurants around the globe so we were very excited to dine here. As we walked in we were greeted by a sign that said “take a menu and sit wherever you like” ok cool! We did so gladly😄the decor in this place is so lovely and bright. Good vibes for sure. Local artists feature their work on the colorful walls. It’s very boho chic :)
Read moreWe were there about 10-15 minutes before someone came to our table to say hello. She was very nice and gave us some water. By that time we had decided what to order so we went ahead and put our order in. Golden Milk, Nilla Latte, Barefoot Babies (appetizer), Kitchari dish and Enchiladas dish.
Food came out in a timely manner. I think my favorite item we ordered was the Golden Milk. Everything else was quite bland. There was only the one waitress so we did not get checked on and our waters remained empty. She had a great attitude and was very friendly but she definitely needed some help with all the people that were in there.
The woman sitting next to us sent her food back because it was cold and ended up just paying her bill and leaving. :/
Overall we probably would not dine here again after this experience. The bill came to almost $80! 😱
Pros: Vegan
Cons: Expensive , Food is flavorful, Poor service

Would give one star if I could - Edit
We were in for dinner a few weeks back and had one of the worst food experiences ever.
Read moreThe chips and guac were stale. The burgers had no flavor whatsoever. They were basically frozen patties from the store. The 'fries' were little potato wedges.
I hate to give a vegan place such a bad review, but this was abysmal.
Cons: Bad food, Not fresh, Overpriced

Cute vegan eatery close to the beach - Edit
Adorable vegan eatery with mostly Tex-Mex flavors. The menu is small, but everything tastes delicious. I love their creative warm drinks that combine spices for beverages that are both yummy and soothing.

The only issue with this place It may be finding a parking spot. But beside that food and beverage were fresh and very good!! Kombucha flavors change on a daily basis so you know it is fresh! Ginger shot was also a fresh squeeze!!!!

We could not have been happier with our meal at Soulshine. The little cozy digs are just right and the staff is warm and friendly. We honestly could have returned here for every meal while in San Diego. But we’ll definitely be back.

So glad to find a full vegan spot for breakfast. My husband and I enjoyed sharing the Nuevos Rancheros and Mexicali Hash. Both were generous portions and delicious. Service was slow for not being very busy, friendly and welcoming. We would definitely come back.

Excellent Customer Service - Fresh Food - Edit
My friend and I both ordered the Viva la Mexico plate which was on the smaller side of portions. Everything looked and tasted great. Our plates were licked clean pretty much. I ordered the lemonade with added ginger to it and the blend was so delicious in flavor although ice cubes would have made it a refreshing delicious drink on a very hot day.

Meh? - Edit
Unfortunately, this place was disappointing for us. The decor is cute, I love that it's all organic and working towards eco-friendliness, and my carnitas enchiladas were really good... but everything else was pretty mediocre.
Read moreOur drinks were downright terrible. I had the Refresher, which is coconut water with cucumber and mint and lemon. It had chunks of cucumber and lemon floating in it and a bunch of mint leaves. After trying a handful of times to drink it without sucking chunks into my straw, I gave up. My husband had an Arnold Palmer and couldn't drink his either. He said it tasted like cheap bitter tea.
As for the food, totally hit and miss. I had the Carnitas Enchiladas and they were actually delicious. Tons of flavor, lots of fillings, really good. My husband had the Mac n Cheeze (meh) and we got the kid's Pesto for my daughter. The Mac was lacking flavor for the most part, except I could tell it was made with coconut milk. Not a bad taste, just not what I look for in cheeze. The pesto was totally bland.
Overall, this place is expensive, especially for the small portions and mediocre flavors. After finishing our meal, we left to get something more elsewhere.
Pros: All organic!, Working for eco-friendliness!, Super vegan friendly!
Cons: Expensive. , Small portions. , Bland.
