Great food - Edit
Came to a meet up here with a bunch from San Francisco Veg Society. Very busy day. Had the biscuits and gravy. Would have liked thicker gravy but still they were good. And the BBF burger was super tasty. Only had the single patty. Left really full😜

Topped off with an order of Beignets. The best outside of New Orleans!

Got there about 1.5 hours before they closed and they were out of several items. In lieu of serving their Cajun fries, they were serving bags of plain Lays potato chips with their sandwiches.
Read moreWait time from ordering to getting food was also longer than it needed to be even considering that they're a food hall food spot and no longer a restaurant. When food was received, it was okay at best but horrible if you consider the price point of it (prices have gone up and ingredients have gone down significantly in comparison to the Oakland location).
Sad that this is what one of my favorite spots has been subjected to but it would have been better off staying closed.

It's Incredible (How Disappointing This Was) - Edit
I was never the biggest fan of the original Souley Vegan in Oakland, but I decided that since they opened downtown in the city I live in to finally give them a try in their new location. The first issue was the price: $25 for the seitan chicken n waffles brunch meal. "I get it," I told myself. "They're in a smaller kitchen and they're a small business, the price will be worth it."
Read moreCue my wife and I sitting and waiting for nearly an hour to get our food. By the time we did, everything on the plate (seitan, waffles, potatoes) was room temp at best. They threw in some fruits to put on your waffles if you want, and my wife ended up with a moldy raspberry on her plate, so that was cool.
And then the food itself was... just bland. The waffle had nothing as far as flavor goes, and same for the seitan, which was the gummiest seitan I've ever had. The only flavor I got was from the butter, which is not a good sign.
We're still waiting on our beignets, which was my favorite thing at the previous location, so maybe they'll at least bring us some joy, but by that point it will be too little too late. Definitely not worth the over $70 we spent on this meal.

We had the best meal from this wonderful and talented chef, and are thrilled they opened again! Gumbo, mac and cheese, chicken slider and sweet potato pie, all perfect and delicious! Yay!
