Fun experience! - Edit
Pick your own ingredients and make a different dish each time!
Read moreIt seems ideal for eating with several people, because one can individualize every dish.
You pay according to the weight of the ingredients and the cooking method.
There's
Hot Pot (Malatang 마라탕): 1800 KRW / 100g.
Fried (Malaban 마라반) 2300 KRW/100g.
Fried in Xiangguo-style (Mala xiangguo 마라샹궈): 3000 KRW/100g.
Just pay attention to watch how much you put into your bowl and select a level of spiciness that you can handle! (level 2 was very spicy for me already)
Also make sure, you tell staff at the counter that you are vegan, so they cook the raw ingredients accordingly.

Worm in every food - Edit
The taste is fine, however there were worm in the food, both mine and my friends. Also before when my other friend went they said the same thing. Unfortunate, however it is a big no for me. Please be aware.

Maratang with right bite! - Edit
I like my Maratang dry and on fire. This place delivers that! The selection of ingredients was plentiful and fresh. The pancake was also nice and crispy.

yummy! - Edit
I love sonogong! my go to place to eat in hongdae that always pleases the non vegans if I'm eating with company. they can get a bit busy sometimes, so you may have to wait a bit to be seated if it's a peak time (this only happened to my friends and I on a Saturday evening). so delicious! even amazing for my mushroom-hating self.

I love this place - Edit
I would rate it 5 stars if I could, but HappyCow only allows 5 stars for fully veg places. In the past month I think I’ve been there about 7 times. It’s delicious. I’ve brought friends here and they have also come more than once recently. The only downside is it gets crowded on Friday and Saturday nights.

LOVE IT - Edit
Honestly one of the best options in Hongdae imo, even if they’re a veg options place! You can get HUGE soups for really great value, especially considering the 3-4 different kinds of tofu and bean curd skin they have. Throw in some ramen and veggies and you’ve got yourself a killer soup! Tell them no spice if you’re not into that. I definitely felt it, especially the day after...😅

So much fun! - Edit
Loved eating here. You get to choose all the ingredients you want and then they cook it for you. Quite cheap too at 1600 won per 100g. Just tell them you want vegan broth at check-out!

So Good I Went Twice - Edit
Went here with friends and it’s a fun experience to build your own Maratang, which is similar to hot pot but per person instead of sharing from one large pot. You can pick your ingredients. They have a variety of noodles, tofu, veggies, and skewers (but not sure if any of those were vegan). When you bring your ingredients to the counter, make sure to specify vegan. They have a different broth that they use. The guy at the counter both times I went recognized the term and even had a notecard with the options written in both English and Hangul for reference. Pricing is done by weight, really affordable.
