Great find in Hongdae - Edit
Thankfully this restaurant had a sign outside saying they accommodate vegans. We were struggling to find much, if anything, in Hongdae! The food was delicious with lots of tofu, noodles and fresh veggies.
Read moreThe restaurant is upstairs and was super busy when we went in. Not much English is spoken but ask for the vegan menu and the staff are happy to show you which ingredients are vegan.
To choose your food, beside the fridge of ingredients you pick up a silver bowl and tongs and add to your bowl whatever you want to eat. You then go to the counter to be served and weigh your bowl (cost of the meal depends on the weight). Choose which level of spice you want in your broth (spice level chart is on the right behind the counter). When the food is ready you go up to the counter to collect it.

Nice Chinese place - Edit
It was a bit difficult to understand how to make the bowl, but the staff helped. They have all the vegan ingredients on one side and the non vegan on the other side. Then they will stamp your order so that the kitchen knows not to add non vegan condiments. Nice option, the food was good! I was happy to overdo with tofu, after a couple of days without proteins 🤣

Delicious noodle soup - Edit
This place is great. Loads of veggies, noodles and tofu to choose from, friendly staff (who understand vegan), dipping sauces, and drinks. Plus it’s super cheap.
Read moreQuick note on process…
1) Get seated at a table
2) Go up to the self serve section, take a big metal bowl, fill it with your veggies
3) Take to staff to have it weighed (and priced up)
4) Tell them if you want it as soup or stir fry (recommend soup)
5) Tell them vegan (they will understand and very accommodating) and what spice level you want (out of five). Note: I chose 3 which is medium but more than spicy enough for me. If you want it more spicy you can add the chilli oil dipping sauce they have near the drinks fridge.
6) Collect your order when your buzzer goes off.
7) Rinse and repeat (I’m here for the second time in two days!)
Enjoy!
Pros: Big selection of vegetables and mushrooms, Cheap as chip , Delicious!

Great satisfying vegan meal! - Edit
Was extremely nice to find a place where you can get a variety of vegetables and soy based proteins.
Read moreLocation is on the second floor, across from the Hongdae Town Olive Young. Look for a blue sign with a little monkey!
Staff does understand vegan, they also speak fluently in Mandarin, which is how we ensured our soups were vegan. We were able to eat for around 10-12k won, for a meal that was very hearty and full of variety, came here more than once. It’s definitely within the heart of Hongdae, so depending on the time of day it may be quite busy.
Definitely recommend eating with added black vinegar and pickled radish, which is available for you to serve yourself!

Very good food - Edit
You make your own meal, you put what you want in your bowl and the staff ask you in Korean if you want beef or lamb and ask if you want it spicy. Just answer correctly and enjoy your meal !

Very good! - Edit
It's probably the busiest branch out of three we have tried so far. The food was as good as other ones but I'd probably go to the other branch in Hongdae as this one seems way too crowded! It says it's open until 10:30pm but the staff were already closing down around 9:45ish as we were the last customers.

Very good Malatang! - Edit
I really like going here to get a good Malatang. Depending on how many ingredients you get, you can either share a big bowl or just have two smaller ones. The amount of ingredients also determines the price you have to pay.
Read moreAs this place is also serving animal products, everyone will be able to create a soup to their liking. They have quite a few types of vegetables and tofu options. You get free water and pickled radish. My meat eating friends all liked to go here as well and we're also satisfied when sharing a vegan bowl with me. At the check out counter, you'll get asked how spicy you want your broth to be. Here you should also mention that you are vegan, and they'll but a stamp on the paper attached to your bowl so the kitchen knows. Very friendly staff too, even if they don't speak much English.

My new favorite place to eat in HongDae - Edit
You can put your own ingredients in a bowl and mention at the register that you're vegan. Tho the lady already took a guess and asked me if I was vegan, she put a stamp on my receipt and put it on the bowl. I chose the soup variant, but it's also possible to stir fry. The pricing was really good and the soup was delicious! I wish I could come here every night to eat. The lady was very kind who took our order.

Nice place with vegan soup and pancake - Edit
I went here on a Monday because all other vegan restaurants are usually closed on that day. You can choose from lots of vegetables and order that as a soup. Hotness level 2 of 4 was enough for me. 😅 They know the word “vegan” and can show you all vegan ingredients. The pancake 미니전 is also vegan!

Not very vegetarian friendly - Edit
The restaurant is a little hard to find and staff were confused when being asked about vegetarian options. I found one dish but was unsure when ordering. Portion sizes are huge so order one dish for two people.

Spicy! - Edit
I’ve been here a couple of times- I tried the soup kind one time and the stir fry the other. The stir fry is definitely my favorite, but it is almost double the price. I got spice level 3 and it is almost ok much lol. Also make sure you say chae-Soo! The staff will recognize that you want it vegan.

Great portion for a small price - Edit
In this restaurant you grab your bowl and put the ingredients you like. There are several options like broccoli, tofu, pak choi, noodles etc. i recommend bringing google translate or so because all ingredients are listed in korean. The woman said mala soup is vegan, so i picked it and got a big bowl for like 6€😄

Hit the spot! - Edit
Really fresh ingredients and it was so nice to be able to load up on veggies since you pick what you want. An amazing variety of mushrooms! As others mentioned, the staff knew what "vegan" was and the lady did a glance in my bowl to make sure I didn't grab anything I shouldn't have. There's 1 veggie broth but you can pick the spice level.

Cool and vegan friendly concept - Edit
Very friendly stuff that understands what vegan means and recommends one soup. The concept is very vegan friendly because you choose the ingredients yourself and put them in a bowl. There are many options like different vegetables, mushrooms, tofu. The broth tastes very rich.
