Delicious Italian food

Most dishes are vegan. We shared a delicious focaccia to start and then had two different kinds of pasta for the main course. The best vegan food we have had in Cork. We will be back, and next time we're going to try some of the 4 vegan desserts!

Italian Irish place

I accidently misbooked the hour. I booked for 8.30pm but meant 18:30 (6.30pm). Luckily they could change our reservation to 7pm without us having to pay the no-show fee of €15/pp. We really appreciate that. Staff was friendly in helping us.

The food came quickly and looked amazing. I had the pratai pratai pratai and enjoyed it. Quite unhandy to eat though. I spilled my pizza everywhere and so did my hushand who ate a 'normal' pizza.

Dessert was amazing. The chocolat mousse and Coffee and Tv were delicious. We only missed some ice cream or fresh fruits.

I came with my parents-in-law and noticed there were only high chairs and tables. The table was bit small for us. There was also a couch to sit and eat, but for us, that was a bit unhandy.

The reservations only last 1 hour and 30 min. We like to sit back and relax a bit while we eat so this felt a bit rushed.

Overall we had a good experience and I would recommend it.

Pros: Waiting time , Food looked amazing, Small place

Cons: Only high tables, Only 1u30min

Amazing wine & food

Love the atmosphere in sonflour, it is really cosy, the staff is friendly and you can see the chefs - or even talk to them. The food is high quality and fresh. There are different options and you can choose your own sauce for the pasta. It is super busy so if you are planning to go for dinner make sure to book in advance.

Quality ingredients and meal

We ordered the pistachio pesto with linguine and the potato pizza for lunch. The linguine was perfectly al dente. The sauce was a little underwhelming as it appeared to be only made of pistachios. Some herbs would have given it some flavor which it lacked. The potato pizza was a little on the small side but super tasty on a perfect dough that wasn't too heavy. It was beautifully topped with a variety of Irish potatoes prepared 3 ways: pureed, chips, and cubed. The coffee creme brulee was painfully small but flavorful enough. A nice overall meal. Reservations recommended!

Fun, Filling, and you might forget you' re at a vegetarian restaurant

lovely place, good vibes and wonderful food . Went for a date night with my partner and he thought he was eating a pork spaghetti bolognese at one point. He was'nt. Really wholesome food and surroundings. You feel like you could be anywhere in Europe which I appreicated and the location is super convenient. Personally it was my second time going there , once for a group event for a birthday and this time I thought the couch was perfect for relaxing . Date night or birthday perfection. Go!

Pros: tasty food , lovely clean surroundings and nice decor, attractive logo and merchandise

Cons: booking can be tricky but they are responsive , a little pricey but worth it, its a small location but its lovely!!

I loved the truffle focaccia and the pesto lenguine.
Most of their menu is vegan except for some dishes that have cheese.

Good Food, Even Better Dessert

I was thankful we were able to eat here as we came in an hour before they were going to be closed early for a big party. I will say it was a bit difficult to sit at the couch and eat, but it worked.

For vegan Italian, this was fairly priced. Two entrees and a dessert came out to 30.90. I would highly suggest getting the Belgian Mousse though!

Disappointment

Since we were 12 people we decided to get a take-out and there's the problem. They got our order and obviously prepared it waaay before we arranged to pick it up. I ordered a soup and was a bit shocked to find so little soup in the container that it hardly covered the base. And (of course) it was cold.... cold pumpkin soup is not very nice!

Beautiful food and amazing service

We loved the whole experience eating here from the beautiful decor to the amazing food that had lovely fresh local and Italian ingredients.

The service we received from Liam and the owners was the best and they were very welcoming and friendly.

We had starters, mains and dessert and everything was delicious and well worth every penny. We will definitely be back.

Pros: Lovely fresh ingredients , Homemade authentic Italian pizza dough, Very welcoming team

Excellent food

I would advise you book. I booked for lunch and it was booked out and I noticed dinner was booked out too. They did have tables there when I left though. The staff explained I needed to scan the menu qr code then they take the order. I decided on the “I lost my mind on shakey bridge” focaccia to start. The bread was very nice and I enjoyed the toppings. Next I ordered the ravioli stuffed with sweet potatoes and herbs. I asked the staff what sauce was suggested and they suggested hot summer dream. It was nice, probably not as spicy as I thought it would be though. For dessert I ordered the vegan mousse. This was incredible. Such a lovely flavour and served on a biscuit. Texture was incredible. This was my favourite part of the meal but it was all nice. Reasonably priced and lovely helpful staff.

Very tasty

This place is popular, so reservations are recommended. The flatbread I had as a starter was the most delicous part of the meal (5/5). The Pasta were good as well, but nothing exceptional. Vegan options are clearly marked and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Fresh Italian food

Normally if the restaurant is not vegan, I would rate out of four stars (even for vegetarian restaurants, as no cow is happy who is separated from their babies!) However, because of the fresh, organic ingredients, I will rate this nice little restaurant out of 5. So it gets a 4 instead of a 3.

Nice interior decoration. The menu is surprisingly affordable, considering they were not accepting walk-ins. Maybe 40% or 50% of all options were vegan (as well as all the wine I think. They don't serve beer)

Portions are not huge but not small, so if you're hungry get a starter, if not a mains is fine. Interesting pizza. The proprietor will tell you all about it! Quite tasty. I enjoyed my stuffed pizza very much.

To the owners, I would advise to try to get vegan cheese for your pizzas! As vegans, we know it's not going to be exactly the same as Italian parmesan or mozzarella, but we don't care. Try homemade cashew cheese, or buy some. Lots of independent producers in Cork and West Cork. Or even VioLife melts well. It's just vegans won't be tempted to come back for pizza without cheese, if they're not in the mood for your delicious pasta. Maybe for lunchtime foccaia, if it's takeaway! But pizza without cheese doesn't have the same kick.

Much better vegan to be had in Cork

Slightly pretentious cafe, seemed they couldn't be bothered to try too hard in the customer service department. Surprised with the lack of complex flavours - the two exceptions being vegan truffle linguini and the stuffed vegan pizza. The chips they served were undercooked and not at all as described in the menu. The seating was soooo uncomfortable.

Authentic Italian paradise for VEGANS

Inviting and friendly from the first moment you enter the place. Food is to die for - menu is mostly vegan (you can choose to add local cheese, if you're prefer vegetarian). Portions may seem small at the first glance, but don't let this fool you - you'll be absolutely stuffed when you've finished! A-must-go-to when you're in Cork

Pros: Mostly vegan, Amazing taste!, Friendly atmosphere

Best meal in Ireland!

If you’re near Cork and want an amazing meal definitely make the time to stop at Sonflour. It was by far the best meal we had while traveling through Ireland. Everything is made from scratch right when you order it and you can tell in the quality of food/ingredients. Most of the menu can be made vegan and it’s definitely not an afterthought. The sweet garlic bread was out of this world and really everything else was amazing too.

Definitely make a reservation though, we stopped by on a weekday and luckily got a spot on the sofa but they turned so many other people away because they are normally booked up completely with reservations so I would recommend planning ahead and reserving your table beforehand.

An absolute must

Easily the most incredible dining experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been vegan for 5 years and have never experienced such amazing food. My partner and I both ate for under €50 and the chef came out to chat with us twice. He has an incredible talent for cooking and clearly is very passionate about what he does. The vegan cheesecake was also absolutely to die for. I can’t say enough good things about this place, highly highly recommend.

Friendly Staff, Food Made Quickly, Lots of Flavour

I was visiting Cork to get a tattoo. My tattoo artist upon learning I was vegan highly recommended this place to me. I only had a short amount of time between finishing my tattoo and needing to catch a train to Dublin. I rushed over to this place and the staff were very friendly and assured me they could make something very quickly. I got the Focaccia Vinyl to-go which had so much flavour and was very enjoyable to eat. It was ready in just a few minutes.

If I go back to Cork again I would love to have a proper sit-down meal here.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Speedy Service, Lots of flavour

Cons: Not 100% vegan

Locally sourced

A small vegetarian restaurant with vegan options. They use local ingredients and even do their own pasta. It was delicious and the chefs know their craft. It can be useful to book a table as it's not very big place.

Pros: Nice atmosphere

Cons: A bit small portions

High quality

I had lunch at sonflour today and had a hard time choosing what to eat, the whole menu looked delicious and was primarily vegan (just a few vegetarian choices). Clearly care has gone into curating the options. I tried the ravioli with vegan pesto, it was very nice to get to have fresh pasta. I loved the cheesecake I had, it was delicious, and my espresso was strong. It was about €21 for everything I had.

Lovely Little Spot

Wow. The food here really impressed me. I had the Socca Farinata, one of their pizzas and some cake. The food was so fresh and had so many flavours jumping out at me. The staff are also super nice and helpful. It’s a little small which makes booking necessary for evening meals. So book it!

Pros: Price, Flavours, Vegan options
