Happy to find a good vegan restaurant nearby. Food was delicious. We had a couple bowls and the warm potato salad. Should have gotten dessert to go - next time! Staff was friendly. Great find!

We came for a dinner with a group of medical volunteers, with my husband and meas the only strict vegans in a group of 5 and everyone loved it. We collectively had vegan pizza, vegan pesto pasta, spring rolls, pumpkin soup, cookies, apple crumble, and chai.
Read moreEveryone loved the food! It was a bit quiet when we first walked in around 7pm but became increasingly populated as the evening went on. Service was kind and prompt! I think we forgot to take photos, but everything was beautiful and tasty.

Mostly delicious, but sometimes hit or miss - Edit
We went to Smart Alec four times during our three weeks in Hyderabad. The dishes are inconsistent so my general recommendations (having tried 12 items on the menu) would be: pesto pasta, butter chicken, pomegranate feta salad (the best vegan feta I’ve ever had) and the grilled cheese. NOTE: the restaurant changed location in early Feb 2019 so ensure you go to the right address.

Absolutely in love with this calm oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Food is exceptional, especially the grilled cheese. Try their strawberry mousse cake, it’s heavenly!

Food was magnificent! Vegan grilled cheese is a must, and the cheese fries as well! Service and atmosphere are both exceptional! There are also some really cute dogs!! But seriously have something with cheese it's some of the closest I've had to real cheese!

Read moreFrom fries made chicken poutine style to the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever eaten (vegan or with dairy), everything ordered from Smart Alec's expansive menu made me wish for a never-ending dish. The gooey chocolate cake dessert didn't lie and also didn't last long once tasted by my partner and me.
The owners were wonderful, friendly, and thoughtful. It shows in their food and the feeling a patron receives when dining in their establishment. It'll be an amazing day when we can visit again.
Pros: Entirely vegan menu (with options for GF), Choices to satisfy diverse cravings, Reasonable prices (bring cash) with good portions.
Cons: None. Went 3 times in 4 days for a reason.

Unique and Friendly Vegan Haven - Edit
This place is a palates delight. They have cheesy fries, exquisite pizzas, divine desserts (strawberry mousse pie), and pasta dishes and appetisers to boot. These ladies have this down pat.
Read moreWe had the cheesy fries, which are a must try. The cheese sauce recipe is perfected. The cashew cheese on the pizza was super yummy too. We also tried the cheese stuffed mushrooms and zucchini(courgette), crackers and mushroom pate, and baked jacket potatoes (think Cuckoo).
Now, for dessert, wow, this is next level. We tried the strawberry mousse pie, which was a thick dense creamy and still airy mousse with a strawberry drizzle sauce on top. We were also fortunate enough to be there on a Sunday, so we had the ice cream sundae. Let me tell you, this was the most divine vegan brownie or brownie otherwise I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about that chocolatey moist chewy delight coupled with dreamy ice creams.
I did eat here twice, and both times the food was delicious and consistent.
If you're in Hyderabd, don't miss out!
