Best staff, nice food. - Edit
The staff here are all so nice and friendly. Probably some of the nicest I’ve come across. The vegan options were limited, and some no longer available. I had some toast with mushrooms, baked beans and avocado. Unfortunately I was over charged and didn’t realise until it was too late. I tried to call them but they didn’t answer. My mum had the avocado toast meal and a coffee. I was charged $67 for the 3 items. So that was disappointing but overall it was a nice experience.
Read moreUpdate. So it turns out that the toast with beans, avo and mushrooms came to $27!! That’s a total rip-off as they are simply side dishes. Menu dishes cost less. They also have a 15% surcharge on weekends which I was unaware of. That’s why the bill was so much. That’s disappointing and I won’t go back. Such a shame really.

Great experience - Edit
Warm greeting and friendly staff, attentive but not intrusive.
Read moreWith indoor and outdoor seating available, we chose a table outside on a sunny day. The menu has clearly marked options with some interesting options available.
I had the fried tofu dish which was really tasty, so different from anything I have seen offered on a breakfast menu. It was beautifully presented.
This place always seems busy, yet they are always happy to accomodate.

thankful for thoughtful vegan options - Edit
If you visit in Summer, grab a table outside in the shade if you can. Inside looks cozy too. Staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top - perfect, really.
Read moreTheir menus are Sicilian-inspired. Currently they offer 3 inventive brunch options that are vegan as standard and a couple that are veganisable.
My friend and I shared the green pea fritters and smoked eggplant salad. Both dishes combined a variety of flavours and colours. The presentation was aesthetically pleasing too. In fact, everything about the meal was a sensory delight. I had a cold brew too which was deliciously fruity and refreshing with a good caffeine kick.
They have $10 cocktail Happy Hours from 2 - 4pm weekends that I need to go back for. I enthusiastically recommend Small Axe to mixed groups of vegan, vego, and omni diners.
