Awesome! - Edit
everything... The place is so nice and chilled and I could and I did spend there many hours. They have different areas to sit and the woody surrounding makes it a pleasure beeing there. The people serving and running the space are super nice. The food is delicious!
Read moreAnd giving money to a place like that too support the idea of a cruelty free world is worth it. That place deserves many visitors and appreciation.

My favorite place so far - Edit
The setting is stunning, and the food is bursting with flavor. I started with veggie and fruit spring rolls with tahini sauce, followed by a Soto soup loaded with mushrooms and tempeh – be sure to add chili for a kick. Washed it down with a refreshing iced ginger mint tea. Spoiler: I devoured it all. PS: I want to come back daily.

Healthy but it missed the kick for me - Edit
This place is within a small forest which is nice as it is a bit cooler and more relaxed. We ordered the Soto soup, mun tofu and the tempeh steak. The soto soup was pretty wholesome and tasty but just like the mun tofu it missed the kick. Bland may be a bit too harsh but it lacked impact. I did not really like the tempeh steak as the sauce was pretty runny. However I felt satisfied after the food, and the ingredients were really healthy so that explains my 4 stars.

Love! - Edit
It was so cool being in this woodsy little neighborhood of artists off the beaten path in Yogya! Gei was so friendly as were others I met who were staying on the property. I ordered a dumpling soup, spring rolls and the sushi roll, and also had a refreshing ginger mint iced tea. I literally watched her pick spinach and herbs to go into my dishes while she was preparing my meal. This place couldn’t be more fresh and delicious and I would love to go back. So amazing.

Cute nature place - Edit
A very cute little place to eat in the woods. They grow their own vegetables and have a bunch of cats strolling around, which is very lovely.
Read moreThe food is really good, maybe a little small but for the price perfect. You can easily take more different foods and still pay just little money.
It is just a little difficult to find when you're going for the first time.
Pros: no msg and no palm oil, quiet hidden place, a lot of choices
Cons: small portions

Genuine vegan cafe in Jogja caring about animal rights - Edit
First of all this place is extremely hard to find definitely recommend not attempting to do so at night for your first time
Read moreBut this place is amazing! To me this is one of the only cafes in Jogja that really cares about the welfare of the animals in Java
They have a lil shop that raises money to help fund animal welfare charities as well as other initiatives to adopt local stray dogs and cats
The food was really delicious and flavourful but the thing I recommend the most is the choc banana milkshake it was absolutely ridiculous how good it was
Food can take a while but it’s definitely a highlight of the vegan cafes available in Jogja
Pros: Supporting local vegan and animal based charities, Great food , Located in what seems like a rainforest
Cons: Hard to find

DELICIOUS! - Edit
It was quite the adventure getting there with the grab taxi in the dark. But we found it. It is a beautifull place in what seems like the middle of the jungle. Quite a contrast to the city of jogya!
Read moreI thought it was a bit of a shame that there is no big vegetable dish that is not a soup or fried. (I have been eating lots of fried rice and vege soups for the past three months and I am not a big fan of either)
But I quickly forgot that as we received the food. I had the mushroom burger and my mom, a picky flexitarian, the nasi goreng. We also both had a dragonfruit banana (coco)milkshake which come with reusable straws.
Everything tasted amazing!!!!!!!!!!
And I mean REALLY AMAZING!!!!!
They also had a nice little shop and donation corner for an animal welfare organisation in jogya.
As we have to stay longer around for visa extensions we will definately come back for some more!
P.s. they chanced their day off from monday to sunday.
So now they are closed on sunday and open for the rest of the week.
Pros: Not so expensive, AMAZING FOOD, nice atmosphere

Lovely dishes! - Edit
Need to be more proactive to give hand when we needing to adjust our seating instead of we had to move around the furniture ourselves. Not the easiest setting for someone on wheelchair, unless being ok to push the wheelchair on soil surface. Otherwise everything was on point. Lovely portion, bold flavor and seasoning. Fried rice was cooked and seasoned lovely, but would be better if using stale rice instead of freshly cooked rice. Sushi was tasty. My fav is steaks, pangsit / dumpling noodle and crispy potato. Good portion considering the price. Can order 2 dishes as well considering the price. Had a great time meeting the cats, dogs and kind the piglet ❤️

Great fresh and tasty food - Edit
I had the Tempe Steak and mushroom burger and loved. Both fresh, hot and delicious.
Read moreI won't give a 5 stars rating just because I just could eat there 2 out of the 4 attempts because they were not open at the time they were supposed to (they informed to me their opening hours from 1pm to 8pm). My tip: go after 2pm.
Pros: food options , music, wifi
Cons: opening hours

Simple yet delicious - Edit
This was the last restaurant from happy cow that we tried from all places listed in yogyakarta. Thus, we had a good reference to judge by.
Read moreWhen reviewing the restaurants I eat at, I always give the taste of the food a weighting of 80%. Luckily for Simple Plant the food here was a solid 4 star.
The portions are tiny. The main courses had 3-4 French Fries in addition to the moderately sized main course. The prices were 2 to 3 times higher than other restaurants in the city.
The music was too loud and the art on the wall didn't cover the stark whiteness of them.
Yet because the food is good and fresh, Simple Plant receives a weak 4 stars
Pros: Taste of food, In a tourist area
Cons: Washing hands area, Price, Strange music, too loud
