South Indian vegetarian restaurant with vegan options that include dosas, idli, uthappam, and puri. Open Mon-Thu 4:00pm-10:00pm, Fri 12:30pm-10:00pm, Sat-Sun 9:00am-3:30pm, 5:00pm-10:00pm.
Impressive selection of South Indian dishes, many of which I haven’t seen elsewhere, all under $15.
Pleasant decor in an otherwise nondescript strip mall just off Highway 401.
Very busy on the week night we visited, and we were the only diners who weren’t South Asian.
Vegan options aren’t marked on the menu but the server was totally aware of them, and happy to check with the kitchen if she wasn’t sure.
We had the Chetinad Idly (sautéed with onions , garlic and spices— mild is probably plenty spicy for most people), Madurai Malli Thallai Masala Dosa (rice-lentil crepe stuffed with potato and a coriander-mint-ginger paste) and an uttapam. All were excellent, as were the chutneys. Sadly, none of the desserts is vegan.
The service was fast and they have a fun gimmick: they leave a little device on your table with three buttons to let you hail your server, ask for water, or request the bill.
A great find. If I lived nearby I’d probably eat here constantly!
I am on a bicycle tour and I did not feel like making my own supper so I found this place on the Happy Cow app.
Nice find.
The server was aware of what vegan was, identified which items were vegan answered my questions well, and recommended that I only have the mild level of spiciness - good call.
The mild level was perfect.
I was the only non-Indian looking person in the eatery which usually indicates that the food quality is well accepted in their community.
The masala dosa was delicious.
It was filling.
Toilets were clean.
Price, with tip was 15$
