Great chain free option - Edit
Really nice pizza dough at this place with a dedicated vegan menu which is great to see. Lovely staff, the atmosphere could be better, quite a loud space even with not many people there.

We have been visiting Shardana for many years now. If you are wanting to go, look for the A frame chalk board at the end of the passageway, and following this pedestrian footway up the slope.

Today we chose to eat off the specific vegan section of the menu, but don’t be afraid to ask for whatever you want. They are happy to customise anything for you, for example removing cheese or meat from one of the regular pizzas and replacing with a vegetable and vegan cheese. Nothing is too much trouble.
We started with rosemary bread and the lentil soup, which is warm and hearty and very filling. Quite often this is enough for a lunch but today we were having a family get together and ordered mains too. Mushroom risotto and Gigli ortolano for the two of us eating from the vegan menu. If you fancy a bottle of wine, vegan wines are clearly marked on the menu.
And no, we couldn’t finish out meals, but it doesn’t go to waste as you can ask for a box and take it home for your next meal.
This is not your run of the mill chain Italian or pizza place, it is a family run independent restaurant with an owner and staff who care passionately about the food the produce and the happiness of their customers. We will be back soon!
