Vegan junk food and breakfast - Edit
We’ve been to this place twice since moving to Louisville. The description mentions something about Indian/International cuisine but I believe that’s old. They have junk/fast food like burgers and burritos and such. We went for breakfast both times. Their breakfast wrap and sausage, egg and cheese sandwich was delicious. The only reason I gave them a 4/5 was because we waited 45 minutes for 2 items the first time we went and the 2nd time, after signing up for their notifications and getting a 10% coupon, the cashier said they didn’t know how to apply that so we’d have to wait to use it.

Nice stop in Louisville! - Edit
Gave this place a try when we passed through Louisville recently. Had a nice small cafe feel with some solid American style grub options. Highly recommend giving them a try!

"Best Breakfast burrito ever - vegan or not" - Edit
My wife and I went damn near first thing as they opened. The ambiance is refreshing but retro, and the employees are nice without the saccharine exterior of so many customer service workers. My wife got a breakfast burrito and I got a philly cheese steak. I didn't try the burrito but I was promised it was divine - egg, bacon, hot sauce, and avocado. My philly was perfect - not trying to be more than a classic and hitting the mark with the yellow cheese, perfectly cooked onions and peppers, and meaty impossible grounds.

Best vegan burger in Louisville - Edit
Hands down the best vegan burger that I have ever had. I really struggle with vegan cheese. I just don’t like it, the cheeses that I have tried anyway. I heard good things about this place so went for it and was blown away at how delicious this cheeseburger was. The Legen-no-dairy fries and sauce were to die for. The fries came out piping hot! Shahar Cafe is my go to when I want vegan comfort food!

Fast-food style - Edit
Everyone in my group liked their meals but me. I ordered the wings, which came with 2 sauce options (BBQ or Buffalo). There was an option for 50/50 which I thought meant 1/2 of the wings would be BBQ and half would be Buffalo. I was wrong. They mixed the sauces together. It was not good.

It’s okay - Edit
Relies very heavily on Beyond/Impossible products. The sauces aren’t that great. I’ve definitely had worst but I’ve had much tastier dancing experiences. Wouldn’t be my first choice in Louisville.

Prefer V-Grits - Edit
The food isn't bad, but the portion sizes are small for what you're paying. After visiting V-Grits, Shahar is a let-down. At V-Grits you get a side with your meal included in the price, their mac and cheese is better lmao, and you have more options for beverages. Not to mention their menu is broader overall. Cheese on my philly wasn't melted or mixed in with the protein :(

The best vegan joint - Edit
Shahar is probably one of my all-time (if not, top 1) favorite vegan places to eat! I always look forward to eating there. I have tried most of the items on the menu and they are all delicious. But, if I had to choose an item as a favorite it would be between the double burger and fries OR the Philly sandwich and fries.

Try the cheesesteak! - Edit
Husband had a breakfast burrito. I had cheesesteak, and because I'm on a mission to find the best vegan cheese fries, cheese fries too. It was definitely pricey, and my husband wished his burrito was bigger, but also said it was the tastiest vegan wrap/burrito he's ever had. He talked about it a lot the rest of the afternoon.😄 My cheesesteak was a generous portion and full of still slightly crunchy pepper and onions. There was also the perfect amount of mayo and cheese to make it a gooey delight without being a mess. Cheese fries were not what I expected - they melted slices of cheese on top rather than serve with cheese sauce. Fries themselves were crispy and clean and yummy. I really enjoy going to restaurants and studying the menu of options (especially at vegan restaurants) so it's disappointing that so many restaurants switched to QR codes/online menus during the pandemic. They didn't even have a menu board in the restaurant, which I also fear is not inviting to people walking by who may consider trying them for the first time.

Amazing options - Edit
We got blueberry and strawberry poptarts, and oatmeal creme pie and a cinnamon roll to go, all of which were amazing. We did have a look at their hot food options too which was amazing I wish we had time to go back and try them. Plus the shakes!! I love a good milkshake. Its a bit dark inside and also a bit expensive are the only things.

Great decor. Great food. Great cafe. - Edit
First thing you will notice when you walk in is the wall covered with colorful portraits of famous peoples heads. Scattered throughout the space are nice creative artifacts and lovely pastel colored furniture.

As for food I was in the mood for breakfast and ended up taking the servers recommendation and getting the breakfast burrito. Although the burrito was tiny it was mighty filling. I topped it off with a vanilla ice latte and a homemade peanut butter strawberry jelly pop tart—they also have blueberry jelly flavored pop tarts too.
Pros: Simple selections for each meal , Homemade pop tarts , Good vibes

This is another spot to visit for some great food, the burgers are amazing and if you are a sweets person. Make sure you try one of their poptarts or two if you feel like it. The seating is limited but you can always find somewhere to enjoy the food.
