I would give 5 stars if Happycow allowed, this was such an amazing experience. Where do I start....I was blown away by the 4 course vegan plant based menu priced at £12 the catering students at Blackburn College, created, cooked and served at Scholars. I and my husband went for lunch and the whole experience far exceeded our expectations, the food was amazing, beautifully presented, cooked, seasoned and was an absolute delight to eat. This is accomplished, confident cooking and yet the chefs are only aged 16 to 19 and their talents put to shame many of the places I have dined, where the vegan food has been a token gesture, an after thought of just putting any old rubbish on the plate. Scholars vegan food was well thought out, creative, exciting and cooked with passion. I had a chat with student chefs Imogen and Gem (who made our mushroom dish & dessert respectively) who were so enthusiastic about their cooking. Credit is due to their mentor Head Chef Dave and Restaurant Manager Karen for introducing a vegan plant based menu. I cannot wait to go back. Booking required with a deposit of £5. Wines are currently not labelled but this is being looked into for future, but the Prosecco is vegan. Highly recommended.
