Disappointing - Edit
Seemed a bit pricey for what it was, and I didn't like how soggy the fried okra got at the bottom of the eponymous bowl. Was expecting more flavor, but it tasted fairly bland. Not sure if I'll return, which is really sad to me since I really wanted to love this food truck.

Unique, kinda weird - Edit
We got the “Chicon Nuggets”. They were...weird? The texture was super chewy and fluffy in a way that you’ll either love or hate. The sauce (we had half jerk and half orange) was okay, but some bites were waaay too sweet. The side of sweet potato fries was great (but that’s a pretty hard thing to do poorly). Definitely wouldn’t recommend taking a meat-eater here

Hot water cornbread - enough said! - Edit
Seriously good soul food! The chicon and sides were perfection, add on that cornbread and it's all so over the top delicious!

Support Sassy and eat amazing food!! - Edit
It can be tough to find black-owned restaurants in Austin and that's why I was so happy to see Sassy open up her amazing trailer on the east side! I am crazy about her 'chicon" (chicken fried seitan) and waffles but the orange chicon might be my favorite. The hot water cornbread should not be missed!!! The creamy black eyed peas and greens are great too. Can't wait to try the Poke-chop.

It was ok. - Edit
We ate here as part of a vegetarian event. The food was ok. My daughter thought the Mac and cheeze was too spicy so this may not be ideal for children.

Mixed bag - Edit
Service was a bit so-so. They were "out of" the waffles 15min after they opened, and then forgot part of our order. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. One of the fried mushrooms was still frozen inside, the others were yummy. The Mac'n'Cheese was mushy and unspectacular. Also, you share your tables with patrons of a BBQ joint when you eat your food, better be not picky about meat smells.

Cons: Service, Food quality, Shares location with (non-veg) BBQ stand

I tried the jerk chicken and waffles, Asian orange chicken basket, and the Cajun shrimp mac'n cheese. Everything was really good!

Love it - Edit
My friend Shelby and I went here yesterday for dinner and each got 3 sides for $12. I got the lemon pepper chicon, green medley, and cornbread. Our sides came out before the chicon and we ate them right away. She got the same but with black eyed peas instead of greens- delicious as well. Lemon pepper chicon (which was actually chewy and crispy seitan) was sooooo good! It was nice to eat vegan wings that weren’t cauliflower. We couldn’t stop talking about it! Super filling and great portions. Sassy is wonderful and had some returning customers while we were there
