Fabulous place for great food and talented, knowledgable chef - Edit
We were passing through Brisbane to get to the airport and needed somewhere to eat along the way. I found Sasquatch Bar on Happy Cow, the menu looked good online but our experience far exceeded our expectations. It strikes you as a funky, gastropub type of place on entry. The menu is mainly pizza BUT there are GF AND vegan options for the pizzas AS WELL AS several sides which are GF with plant based option. Chef LIzzie found out that we were from Canada and came out personally to talk to us. She spent time telling us how her training in Canada was so much more focussed on food allergies/intolerances/options. When she started at this place she ensured that their fryer was solely GF and for us, made sure we knew what all of our options were. This celiac was very happy and my vegan daugher (also celiac) felt so comfortable ordering. The best part - the food was amazing. Chef Lizzie makes everything from scratch - we had the edamame, roast broccoli, polenta fritters, and the onion tings (not a typo, it really is onion tings, not rings and they are very yummy). The non-celiacs/meat eaters had the trio pizza, karaage chicken (and are karaage chicken lovers), and the waffle fries. They said their food was really good as well. I would give this place 5 stars but that is reserved by Happy Cow for solely veg/vegan places. So, ideally 4.5 stars for a place not only with options, but a friendly, passionate, informed chef who will ensure you have an amazing meal.
