Green Beans is a remarkable establishment that offers a unique blend of dining and retail experiences. Not only is it a café, but it also serves as a vegan store, providing a wide range of vegan food, footwear, and apparel.
Read moreDuring our initial visit, we were delighted by the menu, which featured a mushroom pizza, a No Fish sandwich, and homemade chips. The No Fish sandwich was particularly impressive, served on a Bolos lêvedos roll with ‘mayo’ and fresh greens. The entire meal was prepared to order, and the wait was well worth it.
While we waited, we explored the store and discovered a delightful selection of vegan cheeses and other delectable food items that we promptly purchased. The mushroom pizza was generously sized to accommodate two, and I decided to indulge by consuming not only the No Fish sandwich and chips but also two slices of the pizza. The thin and crispy crust, coupled with its exceptional taste, made it a worthwhile indulgence. Mario, the skilled baker, ensures that the dough is freshly prepared daily.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and even offered us a sample of the No Chicken nuggets, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The seasoning, crafted in-house, was delectable, and the Not Chicken nuggets had a satisfying chicken texture.
The café itself is a cozy and inviting space within the store, characterized by its cleanliness, brightness, and ambiance.
During our second visit, I opted for the Bean & Cabbage soup and the Not Chicken Sandwich. Both dishes were equally impressive. The soup, freshly prepared daily, was rich and flavorful, while the Not Chicken Sandwich, served on a Bolos lêvedos roll with cheese, was crunchy and bursting with chicken-like flavor.
On our third visit, I decided to try the dishes of the day: the Seitanitas Sandwich and the Mushroom soup. The soup was exceptional, with its deep and rich flavors. The Seitanitas Sandwich, severed on a Bolos lêvedos roll, was truly remarkable. The Bolos lêvedos roll, with its light and fluffy texture, provided an ideal base for the seitanitas, which was perfectly seasoned with a rich BBQ sauce and complemented by caramelized red onions. Mario’s culinary prowess is evident in the small kitchen, where such exceptional dishes are consistently created. Alexandria is a warm and friendly individual who manages the store’s operations and assists Mario in the cafe during peak hours. If you happen to be in the vicinity, I highly recommend visiting the store to explore its extensive selection.

Read moreI've been going to this store (Sapato Verde) for a few years, as well as the grocery store at the back. The staff/owners are very friendly. There is a great selection of vegan and eco friendly products ranging from shoes (casual or formal) to all sorts of "cheeses" to cleaning products. The selection of vegan food is hard to match in even the big supermarkets (which have increased their vegan offer steadily in the last years.)
There was a small restaurant that opened a while back and then closed at some point. In any case, the one that is there now, Green Beans, is amazing. I wish I could go every week or even every other day.
(To reach the store on foot from Largo de Camões, take the street on the left while going up as it's MUCH quieter.)

This vegan shop is the entrance of Dona Flor Cafe and drives also to a vegan food shop. Amazing combination! Regarding the vegan shop, it offers a wide variety of vegan products, all very ethical: shoes, clothes, accessories (including bags and laptop covers). The quality seems there and prices are reasonable. The counterpart of this variety is that they have a limited brand choice per item. But the staff is friendly and the place is cool and ethical!

Did you ever wonder how to combine a shoe shop, a grocery store and a coffee shop / restaurant in one place? Well wonder no more because this lovely place shows the world how it's done. We went here for breakfast and hat the amazing vegan chicken sandwich, which was delicious. Followed by a wonderful coffee and a fresh orange juice. A well rounded, delicous and cheap breakfast. They offer a brunch menu as well that is more for the huge hunger, includes cake, granola, fruits, a sandwich, coffee and juice. The grocery store is amazing. They sell a diversity ranging from packed seitan (that actually is very cheap!!!) To all of the well known products like oatly. But the best part was the vegan cheese collection. They had everything from sandwich cheese to pizza cheese, melting mozzarella and even really crazy stuff like parmesan. And if you need some pair of shoes you can get some also! Lovely!
