Great Birthday Dinner - Edit
Fabio took me here for my birthday dinner and it was amazing. So many vegan options!! We ordered the Rasa Vada, Pappadams, Pani Puri, Onion Rava Masala Dosa and Masala Dosa. The Dosa are massive! Maybe best to share. It was difficult to choose, could’ve ordered so much more. We’re definitely coming back to try all the curries! Chill vibes and quick service!

Excellent food, lots of vegan options! - Edit
As expected from a south Indian restraunt there are lots of delicious vegan options, all of which are clearly labelled on the menu. They also have quite a few vegan desserts which is always great to see (I was too full to try any of them though!).

Very good - Edit
Lots of clearly marked vegan options on the menu. Bhajia were unpleasantly dry, but everything else we ordered was perfect. Will definitely eat here again in the future!

A bit disappointing - Edit
The onion bhajis were great but my main of a masala dosa was pretty bland. I was also quite surprised that they didn’t have plant milk/yoghurt to be able to make vegan lassis, which was disappointing tbh

Lovely thali - Edit
The challenge with Sagar is choosing what to have! We both went for the thali so we could try more of the menu. It was delicious. I especially enjoyed the korma and the paratha. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

I was a bit disappointed, staff not very friendly, great dosa but aubergine curry nothing to write home about. I know it's central London but felt a bit overpriced for nothing exceptional.

All the food we tried was great! It was a bit pricey but the servings were big! It was very crowded inside but that is to be expected with such a popular restaurant!

Wonderful Indian fayre. - Edit
Lovely friendly staff. Wonderful array of dishes that aren't run of the mill meals.
Read moreThe Indian dish that was like a pizza was lovely, as was the Thali.
Knowing it's all vegetarian and vegan is so nice.
Also, they clear label dishes that contain allergens, but if in doubt, just ask.
We enjoyed ourselves so much we went there twice for lunch during our long weekend in London.
I wish we had one here in West Wales.
Pros: Friendly staff , Menu choices, Good service
Cons: I could imagine that it maybe busy in the evenings

An *almost* vegan restaurant - Edit
What an amazing selection of new Indian dishes! The Medu Vada (lentil doughnuts) were crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. The Gobi Manchurian was the best cauliflower dish I've eaten.
Read moreWe chose vegetable karma and vegetable kootu, both of which had superb flavour, although the kootu was a little soft for me. The lemon rice was excellent.
The staff were quietly present at just the right times and service was quick, although I never felt rushed.
Looking for great Indian food on Tottenham Court Road? Sagar is a short walk from Goodge Street tube station.

A South Indian Mouth Party - Edit
This was my first experience of Sagar's South Indian food, and it was everything I hoped it would be.
Read moreAs a whole, it felt like a perfectly portioned, all vegan, creamy, coconut-major flavour-fest.
My starter was a gobi manchurian (cauliflower, soya sauce, onion and garlic) and I have to be honest, there was easily enough for 2 people to share. It had a sticky, spicy tang coating and it was mouthwateringly lush. I shared a medu vada (fried lentil donut). It was fluffy, yet satisfyingly filling.
For the main, we split a vegetable kurma and a vegetable kooto, on one portion of lemon rice (again, plenty for 2). There were no heavy, overbearing layers, it was all light and perfectly balanced in different flavour. I enjoyed every mouthful and was left quite replete (despite the fact that we'd had a long travelling day and I was well ready for supper)...
...that said, the dessert menu had to have an eye cast over it, because everything else was so nice. I'm so glad we did. There were 50% vegan choices against veggie and that was great. We went for a jaggery dosa with vanilla ice cream (think best French crepe then go thinner and delicately crispy drizzled in warm sugarcane and you're about there).
All in all, it really was top notch nosh. The restaurant is unapologetically plain and simple, and it reflected its evident love of Buddha and Lord Krisha throughout. There were lots of local folks eating here too, always a great sign.
The wait staff were wonderfully attentive, and as long as you're not looking for a plush or candlelit romantic table setting, I'm sure you'll enjoy everything they offer up.
I'm very much looking forward to a return visit to try their other dishes, for sure.
Pros: Every single dish, The unfussy simplicity of the venue, The cleanliness

South Indian Cuisine - Edit
Sagars menu clearly labels vegan dishes and those that can be veganized. I had the vegan plater and the homemade lemonade. Delicious and different to north indian cuisine which is more available in my area. The different components are clearly distinguishable, albeit the overall composition is well balanced with high complexity of spices. It also has an affordable takeaway lunch option.

Exciting new menu - Edit
I had the pleasure of visiting Sagar today and indulging in their new menu offerings. From traditional dosa to tantalizing samples of their innovative Indo-Chinese cuisine, including fried rice, noodles, and delectable starters, every bite was a delight. Sagar's commitment to offering fresher, healthier options is commendable, and I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and eager to return.
