Always a winner! - Edit
I’ve enjoyed food from Sable a couple of times, usually via Uber Eats, however today we chose to eat in. I love the range of bagel options and that you can build your own if you want to. I enjoyed the Ace o’ Clubs with maple bacon. Very tasty; fresh bagel and delicious fillings! Coffee was yummy too.

Bagel and Cookie Heaven - Edit
Oh wow, Sable is amazing. Big range of bagels - I love the ones with pesto. The loaded fries are a HUGE portion, too much for me so either be very hungry or ready to share. And then there's the cookies....probably best I've had in the world, better than what I've had in London, Paris, New York, etc. Sable is sooo good. And they sell doggie biscuits!

Exceptional Dinner Service - Edit
I've been to Sable in Richmond and Thornbury (during the day) a few times, but this was my first dinner experience.
Read moreThe service from the staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we were happy and to ensure the correct timing for our dessert.
We got the rosemary and cheese fries, which seems like a simple side, but they were so good! The chips had plenty of flakes of flavour and cheese, I really should have ordered two.
Opted for three pizzas - pineapple, pepperoni and bbq chicken. The woodfired pizzas were super flavoursome, with heaps of toppings.
Thankfully made the correct decision to order a triple choc cookie skillet to finish. We shared it amongst four (way too much for 1 or 2 ppl imo), and it was warm, gooey and delicious.
Pros: Attentive staff , Spacious location , Delicious food

One of Melbourne's highlights - Edit
Been meaning to come for a while. Finally went the other week and have been back to try both menus.
Read moreThe food is top notch and have had a few pizzas, a pasta, some bagels, loaded fries, and some starters.
The stars for me thus far are the following:
- cauliflower dish which is so simple but that XO sauce is gold
- the pappardelle, which is about as good as it gets for pasta dishes. Closest thing to a carbonara you'll try. My favourite dish on the menu thus far thus tried.
- Lasagne croquettes, just go to Sable for these and you'd be happy. One is definitely not enough! lol
- Bagels fresh and delicious!
- Great pizzas, the "ham" on there is deeelish.
- The loaded fries "inspector jaques" was soo good.
I tried the desserts but they were too sweet for my tastes, particularly the skillet.
Great service, cool venue and fit out, hard to fault really.
Pros: Fully vegan menu, The Pappardelle, Excellent service
Cons: Desserts too sweet for my tastes

Great date night, lovely pasta - Edit
We had two of the pasta dishes which were very very good, especially the one with vegan bacon. Their cocktails were on special so we had some of them too. The food came super quickly so we were out again in a bit more than an hour. They also bring out everything as it's ready so we got our starter after the main, didn't mind though. Would definitely recommend!

Cons: A little expensive , Could have used a little more salt

One of the best fully vegan restaurants in Melbourne! - Edit
Sable is an amazing place to visit. The whole menu is incredible. We would definitely recommend getting the lasagna croquettes to start as they are the best starter in the world. The mains are amazing and the cocktail menu/drinks menu is extensive. You should definitely try to save room for one of their cookie skillets. This restaurant was so amazing that we booked a table for the next night when we settled our bill.

Fantastic - Edit
Fantastic big and airy restaurant/cafe with a very cool vibe. Super friendly service and such an appetising menu. We went for breakfast so it was mainly bagels on offer plus a few hot dishes ie Chick'n & Waffles, but the bagel menu is extensive, there are so many to choose from. The bagels were perfectly baked, and we loved how the filling didn't fall out as we picked up the bagels to eat them - mess free. The bagel fillings were a perfect combination of ingredients, the pulled pork brisket made from mushrooms tasted just like the real thing!

We went back to Sable for their Parma Night and very glad that we did! Again, lovely friendly staff, and the food was divine. Best vegan parma we've ever had.

Amazing food and service - Edit
Ordered lots of food and loved everything! We demolished the calamari and loved our mains too. Managed to squeeze in a tiramisu and a Nutella calzone which were both delish. The service was excellent too, we had a lovely waiter who we got to have a chat with.

pizza night - Edit
Welcome to my 200th review! Was very excited to see Sable open in Thornbury after trying their bagels in Cremorne. We often get their New York style cookies to takeaway. The notella filled one is probably my favourite. The cookie dough melts in your mouth. They’re super sweet so I often feel a bit sick if I eat the whole thing in one go though.
Read moreFinally tried their evening menu on a Wednesday when they have a $14 special on all pizzas. We shared the BBQ chicken and capricciosa. They offer pretty classic American/ Aussie pizza toppings on traditional Italian wood fired bases. Nothing too surprising or creative but can’t go wrong with a a rich Napoli, tasty mock meats, olives, and creamy mozzarella. The toppings were generous and $14 is great value for a good quality, 11” pizza. Enjoy!

Absolutely Amazing - Edit
First and foremost, the service was awesome here. Our server Emma provided the hospitality you'd expect at a top tier restaurant. She was fantastic and really made our night.

Definitely thrilled to have a new place further out North, we will be back to try the rest of the menu sooner rather than later
PS The cookies are to die for

A nice affordable dinner outing - Edit
We were booking an occasional dinner and looked at a number of places around and decided to go somewhere that was nice but would not leave us feeling like we wasted a whole lot of money. I’ve always loved Sable for it’s bagels and its dinner menu did not disappoint either. We ordered the calamari as an entree, followed by the penne alla vodka and the eggplant parma. The calamari seemed to be concocted from two types of funghi, and was delicious, with strong flavours. The penne too was tasty, with its rich, creamy sauce. Vegan parmas can be disappointing, but this one was quite delicious and substantial, with a nice texture. To finish we took ourselves to the edge by sharing a rich, chocolatey tiramisu. Even with a couple of cocktails each, the price of the meal came to less than that of a set meal at the more upmarket options; and it’s a perfectly nice place for an occasion or date night, particularly given the boutique cinema not far up the road.

Good to know the calamari is mushroom, not konjak. I’d give that a try!

Amazing Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Sable is an incredible new restuarant, serving only vegan food. They have stacks of entrees, mains and desserts. The food is delicious and it is clear they put a whole lot of love into everything they do. The interior design is also beautiful. I must say, this is one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne.

Good, not great.... - Edit
Dined here with a non vegan friend.
Read moreReally wanted to love this place, as the menu sounded amazing... I had hopes it would on line with the amazing smith & deli/daughters type quality and creativity.
To start we had the arancini balls- they were nice and crisp served on a bed of spicy tomato sauce. More cheese stuffed on the inside would have made them better, overall pretty good.
To follow we had the mac and cheese, sautéed greens, and ribs. The mac and cheese was very disappointing, not cheesy whatsoever was not swimming/bound in a cheesy cream sauce as it should be (very bland) the macaroni was falling off my fork in individual peiecs. The meat brisket on top was good, but slightly under seasoned. I could not tasted the bacon. Probably the most disappointing dish of the night. Reminded me of what a 1990's vegan mac would have been, but worse.
Ribs: good, although the were more "steaks". Were served on bed of mashed sweet potato and grilled asparagus. My non vegan friend did not like the texture of the ribs. I would have preferred them to individual ribs, more crispy and doused in sauce (that you could eat with your hands).
Sautéed greens: excellent- well seasoned
Chocolate malt shake: average- could not taste the malt, very "thin" and tasted cheap like Soy Good milk. Had high hopes for $10 milkshake it would rich and decadent.
Dessert: cookie skillet: excellent! best dish of the night- a larger scoop of ice cream would have been appreciated.
Overall good food, but probably would not rush back- I think with a few refinements and more attention to detail they would be much better. I wouldn't take non vegans here to impress them with how good vegan food can be. Probably would go Ballard's, Smith & Daughters and Red Sparrow over this place. Still great to see another vegan place in Melbourne!
Pros: comfort food, lots of choice, friendly wait staff
Cons: expensive- not good value for money, some dished underseasoned, milk shake took 15 minutes to come out

Loved it! - Edit
I loved the atmosphere here and the food selection! It was hard to decide what I wanted to order. We went for dinner, it was busy which was great to see! Staff were lovely.
Read moreI felt like a comfort food kind of night so I ordered the Mac n Cheese bake with a side of sweet potato mash.. both were superb and complimented each other to perfection on the fork. I also ordered a choc malt milkshake which was beautiful.
My partner ordered the lasagna, he was happy with it but it was a little dry and burnt at the bottom (which after looking at the other tables was not how it was supposed to be).
We also ordered garlic and cheese bread to share, unfortunately neither of us liked that at all and it did not get eaten.
We were so full though that we couldn’t fit in desert~ but that cookie cake with ice cream in the middle looked amazing and we will definitely be back to try it !!
Overall, beautiful food, beautiful venue, a little noisy but it was a busy night.. I wanted to go straight back for dinner the next night !
