Not good anymore - Edit
Have to update my review because holy macaroni, we went here for brunch on Sunday and worst experience ever. The time before this was subpar as well. On Sunday, there was one waiter for the whole dining room at busy brunch, unfortunately the waiter was also not pleasant (understandably so). Our cups were dirty/had chunks I couldnt scrape off, no silverware given, and the food was HORRIBLE. My partner ordered the Hey Scram & there was NO SCRAMble, it was about half the size it used to be, and it was basically just broccoli utterly covered in hollandaise sauce. My all-star had 4 squishy vegan bacon slices bc they were out of sausage and the pancakes were completely mishapen, hard on the outside, tough to cut and still liquidy inside, the scramble had absolutely no flavor. Our friends ordered fries (these were good), wings (they were out of sauce), and mozzarella sticks (which never came out). The waiter never checked on us so when we flagged them down for the check we told them the moz sticks never came and they said “I’ll take them off”. No apology. Atmosphere was just off (not like it once was), service was bad (but probably not their fault bc they were doing everything), and the food was some of the worst I’ve had. I can’t in good conscience recommend this place anymore unfortunately.

Authentic vegan diner experience - Edit
We absolutely loved our visit at Ro's Diner. The restaurant is decorated on a '50s style, staff are very friendly and there is a huge selection of food to choose from. Portions are very generous too. I would recommend visiting if you are in Brooklyn.

The menu looks so good but it was really disappointing. Fries were overly greasy and over salted. I got the poboy and the “shrimp” was just under seasoned tofu that fell apart. There are too many other good places around for me to want to go back here.

We ordered salads and hash browns. The iceberg lettuce was browning and the toppings were pretty boring. The hash browns were swimming in oil. It was low end diner food.

Amazing vegan diner! - Edit
We went here for breakfast. Had a stack of pancakes with strawberries and banana in them, which was great! And we had the pancake bucket, with tofu scrambled eggs on top, which was also really good. The service is great as is the atmosphere in the diner. Be sure to visit!

Love the powerful flavors in every item I’ve had here. Just tried their new steak with a side of potatoes and veggies and wow. The steak tasted and broke like carnitas abuela makes and the potatoes and veggies were so packed i almost ordered more.

Still the same Champ’s Diner vibe - Edit
Is it me, or are the food portions getting more skimpy? Other than that, the jalapeño poppers, pancakes, and curly fries were a hit taste wise. I miss the wide range selection of menu items back when Ro’s was Champ’s. The menu items are on the pricier end. The scenery is similar to that of a classic diner who retro lights. The restrooms are filled with stickers and modern phrases. Be aware you might still be hungry afterwards! My other concern was how I tried to order, but there were a few menu items that ran out.

I was really disappointed to see Champ’s closed but very happy to hear an awesome person took over the same space and kept the same chef and many staff to keep incredible vegan diner food in Williamsburg. The new owner is really nice and the new menu is great. Highly recommend!! Better than before!

Novelty of a vegan diner. - Edit
I love the idea of having a vegan restaurant with the typical diner atmosphere and menu. The food is decent, there is a large arrangement of sandwiches, burgers and breakfast options. Not overwhelming, but still quite good, and we got free donuts😄Would definitely recommend at least for the novelty, but especially if you like a diner-style experience in vegan. I'd definitely come back on my next trip to NYC.

Used to dine here back when it was Champs, and stopped when I realized how obnoxious and borderline racist front of house staff was. So, I was excited to see they were out with the old (racists) and in with the new.
Read moreSo far I’ve tried the breakfast options and it was meh. The bacon replacement used is absolutely atrocious to look at, and even worse to taste.
I’ll most likely try them again if I’m in a gluttonous mood to see if anything else is good.

The ambience is full of ambiance, good music playing, mellow vibes and superb service! The food is impeccable! The visual presentation is delightful & appeasing to the eyes! Flavors dancing on your tongue the whole epicurean journey! Ro is an amazing chef who understands the combination of seasonings and food to create each masterpiece. We had so many items. Was hard to decide on just one. You'll definitely enjoy!

It's wonderful to have a vegan diner! - Edit
I came there after midnight and the owner let me have a meal outside at the terrace despite he was nearly closing. I chose a very very good burger with vegan bacon and cheese and the sweet tots. I enjoyed both very much.

I’m very happy that this came through following the closing of Champ’s. That being said, not everything is worth it. Since visiting the new spot, I’ve only had savory items. The first time I went was a few months ago and I just got a few sides: scramble, broccoli and some Beyond sausages. Those were fine/good. What I ordered today, however, was not that great. Maybe the kitchen was just swamped or having a bad day, but that “Get Bac” needed to be sent back.

Food was basic diner eats made vegan, presented well with generous servings. All Star was our favorite but would choose pancakes next time instead of the french toast. Our favorite was the chik’un wings.
