I had the cauliflower steak, which was tasty and came on a bed of fried zucchini and eggplant. Yumm! Though I would skip the chimichurri next time. The side of fries was huge and super tasty. The Caesar salad was also good and huge. Add Margarita to celebrate a birthday to round up a great lunch.

I really enjoyed the cauliflower steak, the Brussels sprouts in onion jam ( a bit sweeter than expected but still delicious) and the pineapple cilantro Thai basil “cheesecake”- it was not a slice of cheesecake but more like a deconstructed cheesecake- regardless- yummy!

Would like to see this become like an Au Lac of sorts. The friendly service and atmosphere was great.
Read moreEnjoyed the meal and ambience however..Imo the menu should be elevated to match the prices. Shrimp & chicken tacos were really good with the salsa & guac. (The jackfruit taco was not my fav, it was missing some flavor). And the DIY plates look like a lazy charcuterie board. I'm being a little brutal on my town's restaurant here, sorry but that's my conCrit because I want it to make it.
One last thing, it would be nice to see home-based proteins as opposed to just using Beyond. Still delicious regardless. I have good hopes for this place. Otherwise it might be a one-off visit, but worth a try. Too fancy for casual and too casual for fancy.

Roots is a wonderful addition the the vegan fast food fare available in Riverside. Located at the former Salted Pig site, it has some unique options and a bar.

This is a wonderful place to get a little dressed up and enjoy some wonderful food. I enjoyed their variety of vegan cheeses and their richness and depth of flavor. My highlights are the Spiral Fries (with the works, except jackfruit in my photo), the Impossible Crispy Dumplings, and the Matcha Colada. Would love to return for Happy Hour!

Roots is a new totally vegan restaurant that offers a varied menu at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the vegan cheese platter, crispy dumplings and a creative take on an Impossible burger. They have a full bar and vegan desserts. Friendly staff and attentive service.
