Good burger, awesome coffee - Edit
The hemp burger was humongous, unfortunately a bit dry but still tasty. Another problem was the size of the burger made it really problematic to eat it and the wooden cutlery didn't helped either.

I visited this restaurant with 3 non-vegetarians and 1 vegetarian (and myself being vegan). The food was excellent and everybody enjoyed the meal.

I chanced upon Root while walking down the streets. And though I had just eaten, I decided to pop in and order a starter and a drink.
Read moreI had couscous with Pumpkin and their fresh ABC juice. I can't comment on the rest of their menu but what I had was very nice and healthy.
The staff was friendly and I ended up chilling there for awhile before continuing to explore the city.

We ordered the vegan pizza and were not disappointed. The dough was homemade, soft and crispy at the same time, and the sauce on top was creamy. It came with a delicious salad and some homemade potato fries. The staff is so nice, they are very dedicated and you can tell every dish is prepared with love and conviction . The chocolate cake for dessert was great but the highlight really was the chocolate and raspberry cream that came with it - heaven !

Absolutely thrilled about visiting Root.To start with we were generously greeted by a friendly staff member who sat down with us in order to explain the entire menu and offer the meals of the day.We were given enough time to decide what to order over a drink,which was a tough decision as everything sounded very enjoyable and needless to say we were not mistaken.We eventually went for chickpea fritters and pesto spaghetti,both of which were extremely flavorful,nicely presented and left us wanting to try the entire menu so it was only logical to try the desserts! We ordered slices of pumpkin and chocolate cake and were overwhelmed with delight once more.In short,Root is most definitely worth the visit as we've had an excellent dinner in a very cosy,welcoming surroundings.

They think that vegan Fast Food has to been served on Paperplates and to go cups - all to put away after use, also if you are eating in der restaurant. So much garbage. The Verger was not tasty, also the Chickpea-Stew was not good. Maybe the Lemonade was good, but in the to go cup we're tastig more the cup than the drink. The staff was not really helpful, and slowly. We dont want to go there anymore.

- Root vegan is registrated as fast food place with disposable containers and by the law we are not allowed to use any other dishes, but all our disposable containers and cups are biodegradable (paper, wood & corn starch)
We are truly sorry that our staff wasn't helpful, they are young and still learning :-)

Hidden in the backyard of a road close to the city centre, Root offers cozy space with several dishes of the day and all-time classics like burgers. I had aubergine with pesto, salad and potatoes as well as a piece of banana cake for about 60 kuna, which I have found affordable. Their biggest downside is that they use one-way dishes. Even though they claim that it is biodegradable, using normal dishes is still more ecological.

If you are in Croatia you must visit this place. It is a cute, colorful restaurant, in great location. Everything on their menu is fresh and organic, well prepared, stuff are friendly and it feels like home.
Read moreYou'll have plenty of choice for the food and drinks. Every day is something else on the menu. I’ve been there three times in last two weeks, and besides the tasty main dishes I must say they have the best cakes I ever ate.

Read moreThey had the most expensive burger I ate in my life —60 kunas, which was okay, but the bread (which I think was homemade) was thick and was breaking while eating, so the whole stuffing, which was moist, together with the pattie, which was too soft and was falling apart — kept falling down.
It was a struggle to eat.
In some places, for 20 —30 kunas less, you could get a side dish/french fries, but here, just a 60 kn burger.
The menu was not very understandable. They have daily menu, but you can't understand it from the menu, and when you ask about it, they tell it to you from their paper.
The coffee came in a 'to go' cup and was very diluted and had no taste of a Turkish coffee. It would be diluted even for a nescaffe or any other kind.
The service was extremely slow and not organised.
Cake is 28 kunas, burger 60 and other stuff 40—60. In other places for that money you get more food, faster service, better atmosphere etc.
What I disliked the most though, was the atmosphere — there was a new guy (waiter) being trained and I felt they put too much pressure on him. Besides, I could hear everything being said to him while instructing him, which is not nesecesary to hear when you are a guest.

A cute cafe located off the main street. All food is vegan with the vast majority made in-house. I had the bean burger, which was huge and delicious. My husband had an aubergine stew (daily special), which he devoured quickly. The staff speak English well, in case that matters. Highly recommend.

Lentilpattie with salad was ah-mazing! My friend who took it with the bun was also very pleased and my other friend who took the buckwheat pattie was very happy. Both beet juice and lemonade was great. Generous slice of cake (snickers) and that was top notch! Nice atmosphere. Nice people. Would go here every day if I lived in Zagreb.
