Avocado Reuben lovely today! - Edit
On the way in a member of the public said to go for the French Fries but they weren’t my ‘cup of tea’! The Avocado Reuben Staple was fine however and enjoyed. Full sandwich bursting out! Coming back to the French Fries they were not a match for English Chips!

We were in the area visiting the train museum of PA with our toddler and found this place on HappyCow. Very highly rated looked delicious. It definitely stood up to the reviews! We had the Buffalo sandwich, big mic, margarita pizza, and special calzone. Everything was flavorful and felt home cooked. The ambiance was really cool. Definitely a brewery vibe. On a cute Main Street in Lancaster. Would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Such a fantastic lunch! We had the Tofu Buffalo Bites, the Oyster Mushroom Pocket (this was our favorite), and King Oyster Mushroom "Scallops". YUM!! So flavorful!

So glad this place is still open, and it is unusual to find a bar in most vegan restaurants. One of the original servers is still here and is always the sweetest. Comfort food with some international touches from Mexico, Italy, and India. Beer selection is small and amazing, and they make sure these and the wine and spirits are also vegan. There is a small chill space in back and limited parking behind the building. I wish I had a pub like this in my neighborhood.

We were visiting from out of town on a Sunday and arrived just after 2:00. We were welcomed in and never rushed during our visit. We ordered an appetizer to share and each chose an item off of the weekly highlighted menu. We picked the cauliflower appetizer. I had the Nashville and my hubby had the Jamaican bowel. All three were incredible! We were not hustled through our meal; they close at 3:00 on Sundays. We hope to visit again! #Veganuary

As far as I know, Root is the only 100% vegan restaurant in Lancaster. I’ve been there three times and all the meals were great. The servers are attentive and helpful. The food is fresh and made of quality ingredients. There’s always something new to try, as well as tried and true favorites. The pizza, which is always available, has the most amazing crust! I can’t imagine being disappointed here. If they were open later in the evening, I’d go every week!

The menu items are unique. They have several choices like a pizza, burger, rice dish, stromboli, etc but their are specials that are different every week. The food was delicious and the staff super nice!! Relaxed atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable!! I will eat here again!

Buffalo Tofu Bites were amazing. - Edit
I got a couple items at this place. One was a shakshuka which was decent, but the money shot was the fried buffalo tofu bites with the vegan ranch. The buffalo bites were a perfect combination of soft and crispy and the perfect amount of buffalo sauce. The ranch was so delicious and tasted just like non-vegan ranch that I asked just to make sure it was vegan.

Street parking available. 1st time here. Inside dining area available. Bar aválala le. I started with their Mac appetizer. It has a nice kick. Good portion size for an app. Lentil soup was next. Tasty and also good portion size. Plate to finish me off. Cauliflower Sweet potato mash was a win. The impossible patty wrapped in dough was unique for me. It needed a sauce to elevate the plate. Overall, it was a good experience and I would enjoy coming back to try other food on the menu. They have a menu that is consistent and another menu that rotates weekly. I like that variety.

Came back in October. Had their Mexican tortilla soup which was hot and amazing. I also had their fried mushroom bites which were out of this world and I will not pass up any time I am here. I finished up with my 1st calzone ever - and it was ok. Not to say they didn’t make it well, I’m just thinking calzones aren’t for me. Looking forward to coming back and trying new things. I also had their falafel salad in the morning. It was good. I wouldn’t get it again … nothing special.

The Big Mac was just a smashed up flimsy mess and the fries were cold. I asked the bar manager, while pointing to the beer list, what a particular beer was. He responded, "Uh, beeeer?" as if I was the stupid one. Eye rolls when you ask for drink refills while waiting an eternity for their "fresh" food to arrive. And when it arrived, the waitress literally had her thumb in the noodles on the plate. I guess it was a good thing it all arrives at room temp, otherwise she would have gotten burnt lol

Delightful all vegan restaurant in Lancaster. Beautiful menu, pleasant people and constantly changing menu. We had the Cauliflower sandwich and a falafel salad bowl. The sandwich was so good a Dina’s to unhinge my jaw to get the whole thing in my mouth.

While staying in an area with very limited vegan options, we were really excited to try Roots. Unfortunately it was just ok. The “Big Mic” was more like a kids burger with one patty and wilted lettuce. The Avocado Reuben was definitely very very tasty, the Buffalo bites were again just ok and the pizza was a typical bar pizza. Price overall wasn’t bad but the food was just Meh.

Our waiter Brandon was fun. Since we came towards the end of the week, they were out of several items on the menu. Just keep that in mind with a menus that changes weekly. They do have a “staples” menu with plenty of other choices. Desserts are very generous in size - great to share.

Came in for breakfast the day after the Lancaster VegFest. My husband had the vegetable hash, and I had the French onion omelet. Very delicious and well seasoned. Loved the crunch of the crusty bread, and yummy cheese in the omelet. Good coffee and juice.

Root is a fun neighborhood bar doubling as a vegan restaurant. The staff was amazingly friendly on a busy Saturday night. My favorite menu items were the personal pizza and French fries. The juke box was a pleasant surprise.
Read moreWe were disappointed with the mushroom scallops topped with caponata sauce. The vegan fish in the "fish and chips" had a great texture but not much flavor. They don't seem to have dessert.
If I have a chance to come back, I would either get the pizza or try the calzone.

Loved this place! Fun atmosphere and everything on the menu looked delicious! They have a rotating weekly specials menu and a standing menu of favorites. I chose the special plate Bourbon BBQ Cauliflower over rice with broccoli and my daughter had the Jerk rice with veggies and tofu. My plate was sooo good! The cauliflower was delicious, perfect little crisp and right amount of sauce. The broccoli was perfect! The portion size was on target and I finished it and felt great! My daughter’s bowl was excellent! Service was great!
