Best Italian food in Rome - Edit
We were stunned by the vegan assortment of traditional Italian dishes. The Carbonara was simply a 10/10. Only thing to know is that you need to book a table online beforehand.

Birthday dinner with locals - Edit
Rome can feel very touristy but this spot was warm, welcoming, and full of locals. It’s a small restaurant that could feel tight and my family actually enjoyed it. Mix of dishes - some were outstanding and some that were alright. Overall, recommend making a reservation.

Absolutely Heavenly, MUST VISIT! - Edit
One of the best vegan places I have been to, hands down.
Read moreVery filling and good portion sizes.
During my visits there I took:
- Pasta Gricia: Astonishingly good 🤤
- Carbonara: Amazing
- Nutella foccacia: soft and chocolatey,
- Sbriciolata with Nutella: Magnum opus of desserts. Cream, crunchy bits with chocolate. Absolutely worth every bite!
My only reservation is that the pizza is very very mid. The meat alternative and the mozzarella cheese were unimpressive, sadly.
Remember to make reservation in advance, otherwise your chances of getting a table are slim.
This place is an absolute must visit when in Rome and is worth every euro.
Pros: Desserts are insanely good, Pasta is to die for
Cons: Pizza's mozzarella & meat alternative disappointed

Lovely small cosy restaurant - Edit
A very cosy feel, very popular. Service good. Lots of options based on classic Italian dishes in this plant based restaurant. I had a bruschetta with vegan mozzarella and porchini mushrooms to start which was delicious. For my main I went for the vegan carbonara which was tasty but maybe a little too rich and creamy for me. I had the vegan Tiramisu to finish which was delicious. Would love to eat there again to try some of the other dishes.

Creamy pastas and incredibly realistic meat imitations! - Edit
This was the #1 place recommended to me in Rome. We got an arancino for a small appetizer bite, a cacio e pepe, carbonara, and scacciatora di seitan.
Read moreThe pastas were very nicely al dente and very creamy (perhaps slightly too rich for my liking, especially the cacio e pepe, but my partner didn't think so). I loved the bacony bits on the carbonara.
However, the seitan is what really wowed us. It tasted just like a slow-cooked beef dish and was soo tender, absorbing so much of the marinade. Honestly one of the closest beef imitations I've ever had. Very impressive and would 100% recommend that dish!

A wide variety of delicious options - Edit
A great vegan restaurant that offers so many different options that deciding what to eat was impossibly hard. We ordered a shareable starter plate, the lasagne, a cordon bleu, and a vegan ham omelette. Everything tasted delicious. Remember to reserve a table in advance, the place was quite crowded especially in the evening!

Disappointing - Edit
I had been really looking forward to this place after reading the reviews and was highly disappointed. Cocktails were nice and the starters were off to a good start (nothing stood out but was tasty) but one of the pasta mains was very undercooked. Both mains took a while to come out and when they did they were cold and piping hot on the inside which made me question it had been forgotten and microwaved. The “meat” on top was cold and hard.
Read moreService was okay, but we were left for a while without ordering and our table was squashed next to another table so not very intimate if you go on a date!
I would say try if you are nearby and have no other places in mind you’d like to visit but if you have a list of vegan spots (like I did!) I’d leave this one out
Pros: Starters were nice
Cons: Undercooked pasta, Service, Seating/tables

Excellent Roman Cuisine with Wide Variety of Dishes - Edit
Rifugio Romano is excellent. The menu is huge, with a massive range of starters, sides, pizzas and pastas. We ordered the Bruschetta Nduja and crispy artichoke to start, and the spaghetti carbonara and la diavola pizza for mains. Everything was top tier. Can't recommend this one enough, absolute must try when in Rome.

Cons: Small busy restaurant, might need to book

Such yummy vegan Italian food - Edit
I got the Mezzemanica alla gricia and honestly it was the best vegan non-red sauce pasta I’ve had. The tiramisu was delicious and my mom enjoyed her asparagus risotto as a non-vegan. The suppli was also delicious!

I also recommend the supplì (typical Roman fried rice ball, a bit like arancini) with homemade vegan mozzarella and pesto.

BOOK IT NOW! - Edit
You must go here while in Rome.
Read moreThey take reservations (small street side covered patio and indoor seating area). While we were eating they turned away a lot of people so plan in advance.
All the Italian foods you want fully vega-fied. Arancino pancetta makes me want to go back. The 4 cheese spicy pizza had great flavors and we loved the ravioli.
Carbonara was a bit to salt for my liking but still good, and the soy chunks on top were perfection.
The desserts were also a highlight. The Tirimasu was light and fluffy but jam packed with flavor and the Giagantic thing… don’t know what exactly it was but the waitress reccomended it and she was SO RIGHT! It was chocolate and chocolate all balled into more chocolate greatness.
Bottle of house wine was also around 12€ so no complaints there! We also finished off the meal with a touch of limoncello in an iced glass which just made the whole experience so memorable.

Rifugio vegano - Edit

We had the sharing board and a pizza each. Best tasting vegan cheese I’ve had on the shared board, the spicy sausage was also very nice.
Read moreI would have like to eat here again to sample more of the menu, as it all looked amazing. Book in advance before you go.
The margarita pizza was lovely, I would have like it a little more charred on the bottom, but it was cooked very well, no doughy bits like some other places.
Pros: Vegan cheese, Great Pizza

Good, but not too impressive - Edit
Friendly service and a large menu to choose from. The wine we tried was cheap and tasty. We enjoyed the oyster mushroom starter. Most of the dishes we tried were nice in idea but very heavy and not particularly well made - the vegan cod doughy and the fried artichoke a little burnt. Overall, it was ok and I would recommend if you’d like the peace of mind of eating in a fully vegan restaurant whilst in Rome. Make sure to make a booking as it gets very busy.

The starters would be super tasty. We had bruscetta and arancinis. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the carbonara pasta as it lacked a lot of taste. The service was very nice, small nice restaurant. Best to reserve
