OK food, incredibly cheap

I am a bit torn. On one hand, I want to truly reward the restaurant for having traditional homey vibes and being super affordable (240sek for two people!!!). On the other, the food was really quite bland. It was not bad at all, bit it also just felt like uninspired canteen food.

If you value money more than taste, this is a clear 4 or 5 stars.

Pros: Incredibly affordable, Cozy

Cons: Bland food, Only one vegan option

Pleasant vibe but rather bland buffé

I had the classic salad buffé. I thought it was rather bland with some pleasant surprises, like the curry sauerkraut and homemade hummus. 70% of the buffé was vegan.

I thought the owner(?) was nice. I recommend the place regardless; I thought it had a pleasant vibe.

6-7/10.

Pros: Friendly staff, Price, Can eat as much of the buffé as you want

Cons: Thought the food was kind of bland, Salad was fresh tho

Cheap and delicious lunch place

This place is great if you want an affordable but still very delicious vegan lunch. They only offer one vegan option on the menu, as they only have a small menu to choose from, but we were really surprised how good the food was. The saladbar is included in the price and they offer many different salads like lettuce, karrots, beans, noodle salad, rice salad, and so on. Water is also included and free to take. You can sit outside and have a look at the buildings from haga, which is very nice.
We would definitely come here again.

Pros: Saladbar included in the price, delicious food, sitting outside

Cons: only one vegan option

Ask before ordering if you have food allergies!

This place had so much praise, I was disappointed that the only vegan dish turned out to contain bell peppers (they make me very sick). Instead I had the salad buffet and fried potatoes. Always disappointing when vegetarian restaurants have so few vegan options.

Loved this place - cosy and welcoming

Lovely place tucked away in Haga. The owner was really nice and chatty and told us how the restaurant had been going for 50 years!
Only has 2-3 menu options every day, but the food was really nice, tasty and simple and there's a big salad bar.
No airs and graces, just a great place to eat. One of my favourites.

Pros: Great value, Simple, tasty food, Friendly atmosphere

Great food made with love.

I love this place! The guy running it is really nice and seems really happy with life. You order at the bar from a limited but delicious selection. The salad bar is free with a main meal. I ate the aubergine gratin and the berry pie. Both were delicious. The place has character in an old building full of art and vintage furniture. They’ve been in Haga over 50 years so must be doing something right. I’ll be back .

Tasty vegan option

An alternative and simple vegetarian restaurant , which offers a small lunch menu with 1/2 vegan choices, including water, coffee/tea, bread and a small but great salad bar for a total of 100SEK per person. Very happy to have found this timeless place.

Pros: Has low than one vegan option , Purely vegetarian place, Super friendly staff and guests

Cosy place

A location that has stopped in the "hippie"-time😄A rustic owner who is also ready for a small talk....and delicious food cooked with conviction. Not everything is vegan but vegetarian. We had a vegan "goulash" and whole grain rice with a great salad buffet included. And the Swedish beer was delicious!

Pros: Unexpensive, great salad buffet included, uncomplicated

Cons: Rustic and simple (but not really a disadvantage)

Pros: Cosy location , Not too expensive , Great staff

Great food in spite of the looks of the place

The food at this place is simply fantastic and the prices are not expensive at all. You get to refill yourself witth as much bread and the sallad buffet as much as you want which guarantees that you are not left hungry. The only cons is probably the looks of the place. Judging by the looks I thought the food wasn't going to be as delicious as it turned out

Pros: Food quality, Price

Cons: The place looks rather cheap

Lovely finding in Gothenburg

I am in Gothenburg on a business trip, go out for supper walking at random and come across Solrosen restaurant!
It is really cute and inviting. They had some options of vegetarian dishes, a vegan and a salad buffet. Being vegan, I chose the vegan one. It was tasty and comforting.
They also have beer, wine and other drinks. Both food and beer are very affordable.
The weather was nice and I sat outside, feeding my body and soul with the nice view of Gothenburg streets.
Will definitely be back.

Always a good choice

You find this place in central Gothenburg, Haga neighborhood. I have been there several times since I moved here because I really feel that it's a good option. My non-vegan friends love this place as well. The food is not fancy but good and simple. It's like having lunch at grandma's place: natural and seasonal ingredients, traditional recipes and tasty dishes. There's a possibility to have a main dish with salad-buffé or only the main dish. They have also desserts and the raspberry pie I tried was really good with vanilla cream.
Not everything is vegan but there's always a couple of options. Nice atmosphere, reasonable price.

Pros: Good, tasty, Haga neighborhood, Reasonable prices

ok food but better places near by

The food was ok we tried be vegetable coconut stew (95kr) which was good, lentil soup (85kr) that was ok but could of been tastier, the salad buffet (free with the main dishes) was ok but there was lot of oil in the beans and chickpeas which I am don't like, overall it's ok but would go to better places nearby.

Always good

Vegetarian home cooking at its best.
Been at the same address over 30 years
Always at least three choices - always one vegan.
Tasty sallad buffet.

This is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Sweden. Sadly Stockholm doesn't have anything like this place. When in Göteborg I always eat here.

Pros: Refills - You can eat as much as you want, Atmosphere is in the walls

Cons: The local needs some fresh up

Tastes like Solrosen

Don't know what spices they use or how they cook it: everything pretty much tastes the same. But if you're craving that taste this is hard to beat: big portions and reasonable prices.

Pros: Large portions, Relaxed atmosphere

Cons: Nothing new here since the 70's!

Big portions!

The salad bar is amazing! The main dish was great (only 1 vegan option), and they had rice, potatoes and/or pasta as sides. The rice and the pasta were just plain (my kids loved the pasta!), and the potatoes were seasoned and very good. They have outdoor seating which was a huge bonus today, except smoking is allowed, so we ate our healthy food in a cloud of smoke.

Pros: great salad bar, tasty vegan option

Cons: only one vegan option , smoking people surrounded us

Warm, welcoming and affordable

There are a lot of super hip and new veggie places in GBG - Solrosen is the opposite - you can tell this place has been a centre of the veggie community in this city for decades.

The portions are huge, the free salad bar is great (make sure to stock up on extra hummus and bread!) and the staff gives great service.

The outside area is nice to sit with a beer or two after your dinner.

One thing - I wish they would offer more vegan options.

Also, meals are well priced at around 100kr - if you're veggie and visiting GBG on a budget - it's worth making several visits here.

Pros: Big portions, Free salad bar, Friendly, community vibe

Cons: Usually only 1 vegan meal

Good food, nice place

I went there with "meateaters" that tried the Lasagne and were really pleased with it. I took the only vegan dish- which was a stew. I could chose if I wanted potatoes, brown rice or pasta with it. You could chose from a nice salad buffet and a coffee or tea was included. It all tasted very good!
The amount of the food was just fine- especially because you can take as much salad as you like. I think it's a really good value for a small price.
You can sit outside on a quiet road which is really nice on warm summer evenings.

Best Lasagne Ever!

We frequent Solrosen when we want a full, hearty meal that tastes fantastic! The staff want you to leave full and satisfied.
The menu changes daily, but the lasagne is constant and my favourite by far. There is always one vegan option and many cakes are vegan too. If they ever have the dark chocolate raspberry pie, EAT IT! You will not regret the choice! ;)
The buffet salad bar is much better than many I've been to, with a wide selection of different dishes, including pasta, beans, veggies, potatoes, lettuces, sauces, rices, bread and more, with the staff keeping it fresh on a regular basis. Water and coffee are free and service is always with a smile and conversation. Good stocked bar if that's your thing, with a good amount of seating.

If taking the tram, get off at Järntorget and walk down the road between The Dubliner pub and Akademibokhandeln. The restaurant will be in your sight at the end of the street.

Pros: Big portions, very filling, Reasonable price, All you can eat salad buffet
