Outstanding!!! - Edit
It was hidden away on the 2nd floor. The food was how it looked in the pictures. But the taste was out of this world. Perfect balance. It had a home feel to it while still having professional service.

Friendly service and good food! - Edit
Tucked away on a side street next to the train station, we loved this little place. The menu wasn't entirely clear in English but there were some pics and since it's all vegan I just guessed. I got a fried rice plate, which was very yummy indeed. It came with a range of sides set out Japanese bento style. Really good value and the ladies serving where so sweet and smiley. They had a few vegan things to buy such as instant noodles and had a table of animal charity paraphernalia for information.

Amazing food and lovely owner - Edit
10/10! The ladies here really know how to make great vegan food! My partner had the curry noodles and I had the gyoza. Both came with lovely side dishes and complimentary fruit at the end. Value for money is top notch - super filling and tasty. Highly recommend.

Conveniently Located All-Vegan Restaurant in Kyoto - Edit
Ren is located less than 1-block from the Omiya station (rail) in Kyoto, and it's definitely worth checking out. Like many other vegan restaurants in Japan, it's a little hard to find...just look for the sign that points you upstairs (next to the hair salon). You can see the sign from the sidewalk, no need to go inside a mall or anything. The owner is an absolutely wonderful human being, very warm and sweet. You can tell she cares about furthering the vegan movement in Japan.
Read moreMy fiancé ordered the hot pot, which looked delicious (she confirmed) and I ordered the fried rice. I highly recommend the fried rice, vegan fried rice is hit or miss, but Ren's is amazing. You won't be disappointed! Definitely visit this restaurant, it was so good we almost went twice while in Kyoto!
Pros: All Vegan, Great Fried Rice, Very Nice Owner

If I had tried this place the first day in Kyoto... - Edit
I wouldn’t have eaten anywhere else. I took a bento to go ( the only thing she’ll do as take out ) and it was phenomenal. I’m not even sure what the foods were but I cleaned the whole box. I wish I’d eaten here from the beginning.

Hmm - Edit
Came here really looking forward to having some vegan Taiwanese food. I was a little disappointed if I'm honest.
Read moreI ordered the set that came with vegan fish fillets and my bf had the hotpot. I thought the main dish and the sides were just okay. My bf's hotpot could have been saltier and lacked flavor.
Overall it was just okay, but I don't think I would return.

Best vegan restaurant in Kyoto!! - Edit
Lovely little restaurant with Taiwanese vegan Cuisine. The owner was sooo nice and helpful. Regarding the food please go and see/taste for yourself. We went there on 3 out of 4 nights and tasted all dishes. All delicious, but absolute favourite were the hotpots and Curry noodles. The place is very clean and cosy. When you go there during the opening hours and the door is closed, although stating "Open" please wait a little bit, then she is probably just shopping and will return soon.

Me and my boyfriend went to the restaurant twice in a week yet it was closed, it said it was open on the website and happy cow. I'm not sure why it was closed but just to give you guys a heads up I would maybe ring before heading there just so you aren't disappointed if closed on arrival.

Great food and nice Owner! - Edit
We tried Ren in Kyoto during lunch and had a delicious set meny for 980 yen! The special taiwanese food was soooo good and the owner was super nice to us and also spoke english enough for easy order. Not a big sign showing the entrance. The menue was hanging on the wall next to the entrance though. Very nice place! We loved it!

YUM - Edit
We walked about 40 mins when absolutely exhausted to reach this place - so worth it!
Read moreI ordered the gyoza set and a side of soy cutlets and my boyfriend ordered the fried rice set with a side of wheat cutlets and oh my god SO much food.
The sets came with rice and lots of sides; salad, a delicious lemony potato salad, peppers and a broth thing (and maybe something else I can’t remember). They also included a free tea or coffee.
For the sides we received six cutlets each (with another side salad).
Everything was really tasty and filling and came to about £11 each which was ridiculous considering the amount (and quality) of the food.
The owner/chef is also really lovely too!
So worth a trip if you’re hungry in Kyoto, even if you have to travel a bit!
Pros: Big portions, Cheap , Tasty

Great Place - Edit
Everything there was vegan. The two people operating the restaurant were very polite and soft spoken. The menu is a bit difficult to read for English speakers but it seems hard to go wrong here. We got the dinner plate (came with fried soy meat and soy cutlets) and vegetable pot. Both were delicious. I also ordered a side of soy pork cutlets and gyoza (Jiaozo or Jiaozu I forget how its listed on the menu) and they were very good. And yeah, its in an alley on the 2nd floor of a building across from a gambling slots hall.
