We got the Soy cutlet bowl which was very tasty. Also got the curry dumpling and a vegetable dumpling. Dumplings took a while to come out but tasted pretty good.

Super adresse vegane $$ - Edit

Great food, Nice staff - Edit
It's a super cute place with cozy vibes, the food was great and nit expensive. They had a kid's menu which is not that common in Japan. Nice and accommodating staff, we arrived after last order (they close early) but they didn't say anything. The desserts were amazing. Definitely worth making the detour for their food.

Cozy, delicious and welcoming 🌸♥️ - Edit
Absolutely gorgeous vegan Japanese food at a fully vegan restaurant based in Kyoto. I ordered the soy meat rice bowl which was very similar to a Japanese dish of Katsu Don. My partner ordered the Gyoza Nabé (Hot Pot). For dessert we ordered the sweet potato and Cashews Cheese Cake which was presented so nicely. Would definitely recommend!!

Warm-hearted staff, delicious food and so many desserts to choose from! We had a hot pot, dumplings and the daily set. All very good, some of the vegetables were new to me. I recommend you try their homemade plum juice. Decided to try a tofu chocolate cake (gluten free) and a burdock root (never heard of that before) walnut chocolate cake. Both yummy. Very satisfying meal!

It was such a nice place to eat! The restaurant is small and cozy, we felt really comfortable. The food was amazing, really tasty and perfect for the rainy day. We had the bento plate and one of the hot pots, for dessert we had a cake (no photo of the cake). Very delicious!

We tried the dinner set, tofu eel, and katsu side. The food was good, but the texture of the tofu eel did get a bit monotonous halfway through. Overall a good stop and something a little unique.

Hole in the wall, all vegan restaurant with delicious food. We rushed to get here for last orders at 7pm and had to wait, luckily the staff were so friendly and allowed us to make an order for takeaway and in the meantime we got a table and ate in. Big portions and we ordered a few items to try. The dessert and matcha latte were delicious too!

An interesting change - Edit
Have you been long enough in Japan to be fed up with rice, miso soup and vegetables for every meal? And have you had enough of vegan burgers at the tourist restaurants? Then "Ren Cafe Nakagyo" is the place for you!
Read more"Ren Cafe Nakagyo" specializes in Taiwanese food, but also offers Japanese food. Actually, when presented with the menu (in Japanese and English) everything looked so good that I had trouble deciding. Since I was in a Taiwanese restaurant I decided to go with one of the Taiwanese dishes: the medicinal soup with dumplings.
On a top shelf all the herbs are displayed that go into the soup. The result is a unique taste that doesn't resemble anything from a Japanese restaurant. Although the taste wasn't exquisite, it is highly interesting. Also, Ren Cafe puts a lot of different ingredients in the soup, so every bite is a bit of a surprise.
A tip: Ren Cafe is small. When I entered half of the seats were reserved, the big central table was occupied and they could only squeeze me into a little corner. During my dinner several people came in and had to be send away because there was no more seating available. So: do make reservations and you're in for an interesting change from the standard Japanese menu!
Pros: original taste, nice atmosphere
Cons: limited seating, reservations adviced
