Vegan fried rice - good! - Edit
How to get here —- Hankyu Omiya station exit no 1, go to the narrow street between Seven Eleven and OMEGA pachinko parlor. 1 min from Seven eleven next to Rosina bank on the 2nd floor. Had Fried rice, a bit bland but filling and cheap. Would come back if I’m nearby. I went there at around 4:00 pm they served me the lunch... thought they were closed that was a nice surprise because I was gonna wait until 5:30ish in somewhere.

I had the dan dan noodles meal. Noodles were delicious but they came with a canned peach. My wife had the gyoza and steamed buns, both were great.

Sorta greasy but yummy! - Edit
Ordered the mapo set meal and the gyōza. There was free soup (you have to get it yourself at the "self-service" station) which I wasn't crazy about - it was more like broth than soup... and the fruit was canned pineapple which I wasn't crazy about either. The side dishes weren't particularly memorable but I'm always happy to see chickpeas lol! The main dish, the mapo tofu, was delicious. The gyōza was very nice too. All in all, I found the food a bit greasy (the tables and utensils were kind of sticky too...!) but once in a while it's fun to have a greasy Chinese meal. :-)

Great Vegan restaurant in Kyoto - Edit
The restaurant is quite hidden and doesn’t offer much variety but the food is delicious. Highly recommended vegan restaurant with Chinese cuisine.

The perfect spot to escape from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto. - Edit
A peaceful haven run by very accommodating folk, with a gentle and endearing manner.
Read moreWe had a late afternoon snack and it was perfect. Our chosen dish was the Jiaozi set menu (inexpensive at only ¥980).
Highly recommended to both vegans and omnivores.

Cheap and good quality food - Edit
The most beautiful thing about this restaurant, is the quiet and family feeling you can experience during your dinner.. have a break from the energy of Japanese! And the veg gyoza set was just flawless! I would definitely come back and would definitely recommend it! In addition they had a tasty soup for free!🌸

Delicious, homey veg fare - Edit
I loved the experience at Ren. It's pretty down-home and simple - in the best way. The restaurant was empty when I arrived for lunch so I got to chit chat with the staff/owner a little, and they were genuinely nice and welcoming.
Read moreI had the spicy noodles set and also a side of gyoza. Plenty of food for 1500¥ altogether.
Note HC has Ren listed as vegan but I asked the chef-owner and she told me they're vegetarian, not vegan.
Others may have noted the location - it's indoors one flight up next to a massage place. I eventually saw a little sign outside the building indicating same but it took a moment to find it. Worth the effort!
Pros: Delicious, filling, homey food, Lovely staff, Portions & prices

Delicious & inexpensive - Edit
Basic decor and a little tucked away on the second floor of an unassuming building but it’s well worth seeking out if you are in the area. Smiley and efficient service. The food is delicious and served in hearty portions! It’s not a destination restaurant but very good food at excellent an excellent price.

Great vegan food from Taiwan. It's very hard to find. There is a massage place with a photo of a girl and it's next to it- climb 1 set of stairs to the second floor on the right hand side. Slide the doors with no sign on it, and the restaurant is behind it

New management - still great veggi food - Edit
Ren re-opened with new management on 27th of March. We were there by chance. They do offer fixed dumpling sets now (whether this will stay like that I don't know), but are still plant based. We had Gyozas (filled with green veggies, glass noodles, ginger, soy shreds and various ingredients), rice, veggi soup, brokkoli with sea weed, pickled radish and a kind of five spice mochi rice. All was very tasty, interesting and homemade. The owners are very very nice. The food is very cheap for the amount of dishes you get. We can definitely recommend it.

Nice place - Edit
We had a hard time finding this place but once we did we were welcomed in. I saw other patrons had ordered a hot pot so I ordered the soy milk one, my partner ordered a curry. We did have to wait a long time for our food, so maybe plan on that. But once we got it it was so good. I haven't had a lot of hot pots in my life but this one was amazing!

Its a little bit tricky to find the Ren (you have to go to the 2nd floor, currently there is a construction site in front of the house) but the search is worthwhile. The restaurant has a traditional atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and helpful. the portions are big and the food is very tasty, there is a free drink with many dishes - the prices are cheap. I'm looking forward to the next visit!:)

Outstanding experience - Edit
Really refreshing experience. It was for the first time I've visited place like this and wasn't disappointed at all. The menu is completely vegan and there are many possibilities to choose from. Even though the menu is not completely in English, the stuff is able to speak English very well. The food itself was delicious and for a really good price. I've tried the vegetable hot-pot and vegetable gyoza and loved it. As for the hot-pot you can even choose the base (plain, spicy, curry, soy milk). The price includes drink too.
Read moreThey also sell some vegan goods on the spot, as for example vegan curry, which is kind of rare in Japan.
The interior is clean and cozy as well. And the stuff is very friendly.
The location is great, but to find the place itself might be kind of difficult. But once you get in, it's well marked and it's definitely worth it despite this little obstacle!
Pros: Lots of vegan options, delicious food, prices, Clean and cozy interior, vegan goods on the spot, Friendly stuff that can speak English
