Delicious if a little bland

Samusa and fried tofu appetizers were great. Our entrées were (basil eggplant, coconut curry, pumpkin stew) were tasty and refreshing, though not super flavorful. Also had the vegetable potato curry thought this was a low-light.

Restored my faith in Burmese food

I tried another Burmese restaurant which was good, but not like the Burmese food I remember being “broke da mouf ‘ono grindz”. This place was super yummy. We got the tea leaf salad (not the one with fish sauce), some samusas, coconut curry with potato (and subbed tofu for the meat options, and coconut rice. Our waiter was super accommodating and made excellent recommendations. A bit pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Good potential wobbly service

We got the samusas and two Burmese curries. We subbed in tofu for the meat in one of them and the other one was the eggplant one. The samosas were definitely worth getting! Wouldn’t necessarily get the curry again. The waitress said they were vegan, but messed up one of our orders by not bringing us the Burmese potato curry and forgot about mine.. she didn’t make me feel confident in her understanding of vegan food.

Recommend: Burmese samusa
Okay: Burmese eggplant curry

In terms of service… some of our group was offered rice with the food. Naturally, they said yes and were offered a flavored one. The waitress failed to mention it was EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. They paid $36 total for ONE meal since you need the rice with the curry. It was offered up as a side but wasn’t priced as one. We waited about 20min for our check which was brought over by another random waitress we hadn’t seen before. No one asked how we wanted to split the ticket and she got upset that we wanted to do so. She then couldn’t figure out how to split it so she printed a receipt and asked us to circle what we wanted separated, 10min later no one had come by and our original waitress showed up who also couldn’t split the ticket and we ended up putting it on one card for the party of 6. The machine failed multiple times and by this point we had already waited a long time to pay, multiple orders were messed up, and multiple people paid $36 for one meal, and it wasn’t all that busy. Overall, the way the whole situation was handled was poor and the lack of communication and inflated prices for sides was off putting.

Ehhhhhh

I was excited to try this place but honestly it was not that great sadly.. service and drinks were awesome but I had the vegetable curry and it had no flavor to it, it tasted mostly like coconut milk which I love the coconut flavor in curries but it’s like it had barely any spices put into the curry, just kind of bland, I’ve had better in Idaho which is saying something 🤣 the samusas were very good though!

Pros: Good service , Drinks

Cons: Expensive , Not a lot of flavor

Flavorful food

We ordered the samusa and the shan noodle with tofu (no pork) and both were delicious. They were really accommodating about vegan options. I also really liked the atmosphere. (Chinatown seems a little dodgy at night, but the restaurant was bustling on a Saturday evening.)

Fantastic Food

The Vegetable Curry and Burmese Samusas are vegan and so tasty. Plenty to share or take home and eat again. Very knowledgeable server. No wait time. Parking just a couple blocks away. I will definitely be back.

Can adapt all dishes to be vegan

Non vegan friends in Honolulu took us here and the menu looked ok as there were some vegetarian dishes that appeared to be vegan. When we asked the server she said that they could adapt all dishes to be vegan so we had a fantastic choice. The food was amazing and at a very reasonable price. The service was also really good. I'd love to have put 5 stars but the app doesn't allow it for not 100% vegan places. This was actually a great option for us as our friends will not eat at purely vegan places.

Pros: Amazing vegan choice, Super tasty food, Reasonable price
