Solid hippie place - Edit
Great place to get your hippie on. Had the lentil stew, which was warm and comforting on a cold day but otherwise not a standout. Not bad by any means, and actually exactly the comfort food I was looking for, but just nothing to write home about. Also had the carrot cake, which was solid as well. Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for this sort of place.

Lovely food - Edit
Informal vibrant place. Visited once for lunch while on holiday. Offered a pastry style main with a couple of salads for £7.50.
Read more5 of us ate for £40. No drinks.
Portion must have been sufficient as we only had a light dinner at home
Pros: Good vegan options
Cons: Being vegan and mainly cooking at home or making , packed lunch, we are always surprised by how much, eating out is. That's just us, tight, Northerners

Cake!! And the rest is good too - Edit
Nice place, nice atmosphere, a simple place to eat, take a tray, order your food from the counter, get served and eat your food. The cake slice was big which is a good thing as I dislike paying high prices for vegan cake and then getting only a slither. Here you get a proper slice!!

Nice Veg cafe in Glasto - Edit
Had a nice vegan meal here. Simple but tasty homemade food. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Seating is basic but adequate. Indoor & garden seating available. Also has vegan cake which looked good but didn’t try it. Unfortunately only filter coffee available.

Pleasant - Edit
A cute and cosy little cafe, tucked away down an alley off the main street in Glastonbury. We went in the morning when it was still quiet, just for tea and cake. We had to ask what was suitable for vegans, then enjoyed a huge slice of super sweet victoria sponge cake. There was plant milk available for hot drinks. Can't comment on the quality of the savoury food as we didn't have a meal here, but from the menu it looked like a slightly old-fashioned approach to veggie food, though did include vegan options.

delish food. massive queues - Edit
We visited today and the food was delicious. I had the mushroom and cashew flan. Sadly they were out of jacket potatoes for my friend.
Read moreThe food is served canteen style so you queue before you pick a table.
The queue system is slightly frustrated as when you arrive at the food counter you feel pressured to pick what you want to eat as there are loads of people waiting behind you.
Staff where very friendly and helpful.
Pros: great food , great staff
Cons: the queue system

No potatoes - Edit
We visited today and they had no jacket potatoes or garlic potatoes left, so the vegan options were either generic falafel salad or soup as all other options had dairy/eggs. Quite disappointed as I ended up with just a drink. The tables are also very cramped. Also overheard a staff member telling a customer "cows milk is nicer".

Great food! - Edit
I really enjoyed the meal I had here! The food was really great - there was a great variety of salad items, and an extensive range of vegan main dishes. There is also an outside area where you can eat if the weather is nice. In addition, the staff were friendly, so all in all, this was a great restaurant and I definitely intend to return!

GOOD FOOD, GOOD PRICE .... - Edit
Quite extensive menu and the friendly staff were quick to sort out a vegan meal, falafel platter, decent size portions and very tasty too
Read moreNot that many vegan dishes but they're only too happy to amend a dish if possible
The cafe has indoor seating, which is quite a small area, covered and open outdoor seating, most of which is non smoking, which makes a pleasant change
With a lot of competition from similar cafes in Glastonbury this is slightly above average
Pros: Good food, Knowledgeable staff
Cons: Sticky tables and chairs - yuk

Best in town - Edit
We were contemplating dining here when a lovely man stood outside convinced us by telling us it's the "best place in town", and we sure haven't regretted it! Rainbows End offers a good range of different meals, cakes, ect, either vegetarian or vegan. The mezze platter, although rather pricey, is delicious with an absolutely massive portion could easily serve two, including 4 salad options and bread of your choice. Their soups are also lovely. The cafe itself has a lovely vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating, really is my favourite place to eat in Glasto!

Little place of magical food - Edit
Wow I had been told to eat at this restaurant from a resident at the ashram and boy am I glad I took the advice. I arrived very hungry and was in awe of all the lovely looking food displayed infront of me I didn't know what to choose and ended up having to ask for help! I got the meze plate which consists of a slice of something yummy ( I opted for the vegan slice) a green salad and then 4 extras ( the vine leaves and the raw cauliflower and potato peanut butter salad NEEDS to be tried by everyone!!!) and on top of that some rye bread, I was told it would fill me up and then more and the staff weren't wrong. So many lovely flavours going on! I even went back the next day to have my desert (lemon cheesecake) as I couldn't fit it in! The staff were amazing and so friendly thank you for a lovely afternoon!

Good for vegans too - Edit
I've lived in Glastonbury for a few years and the Rainbows End seems to be a favourite eatery of many of our visitors. There are always plenty of vegan options (including dessert slices and cake). The mix and match salad/hummus/garlic or baked potato choice is usually a good choice if you aren;t sure what to have. The prices are good. It's often busy during peak times of peak season but I have never found this to be a problem. Always worth the wait. My 12 year old son really loves it in here. If the weather is warm then there is a small outdoor eating area too.
Read moreThere is even a 'sugar free' vegan date slice if you don't eat refined sugar.
Careful not to miss it. It is on the left hand side of the High Street. Look for the small sign menu board outside.
Pros: Price, vegan options, nice staff (usually)

Nice eatery in Glastonbury - Edit
Rainbows End is my favorite restaurant in Glastonbury. Great place to grab a lunch. It's almost easy to miss if you're not paying attention as you're going down the street. It is a bit congested but it's worth it.

A mixed bag - Edit
Rainbows End is a bit of a throwback to 80s vegetarianism - stodgy food that's sometimes unimaginative. On the flip side, the dishes are often excellent, the portions are large, and the salads frequently varied. The things that let this cafe down are the inconsistency in quality and the consistently luke-warm meals. Also, the portions are often TOO generous - I struggle to get through a meal. I'd be happy to pay less for a smaller plate. The queueing system at the counter is also a problem - if you decide after eating that you have space for desert, you may have to queue 15 mins to get it (or another drink).

We keep going back for more! - Edit
This is the second review we have done as we have made so many return trips we felt we had to say more. We have taken to driving the 28.6 miles down on a regular basis.
Read moreThere are regular changes to the menu and its very filling.
We find the food delicious, its rich without being too rich, and it tastes wholesome, but not too wholesome.
The only problemI have had is getting the journey down to coincide with my favourite meal being on the menu-stilton mushroom and walnut pie.
The Mezze is always on the menu and is superb.
The cake display gives a wonderful feeling of abundance, and the portions are big.
As a previous reviewer said its not got a huge vegan selection, but not mny places do really.
Give it a go, PLEASE!
Pros: good flavours, good value

Little Choice for Vegans - Edit
Had been looking forward to visting this cafe. However was disappointed, only one vegan main (which wasn't very nice, small portion), and no soya milk. Fortunately, a wholefood shop along the street meant that we could get soya milk and enjoy a pot of tea. Chocolate brownie/traybake was very good. Menu not thought through - the shepherd's pie had cheese melted on the mash - without this it would have been vegan. Also the cafe was very cramped, tables very close together, and I kept being knocked and barged into. Bizarrely there is a key system for the single loo . . . a bit odd tracking down the key and passing it to other customers in the queue.
Read moreProbably okay for veggies . . . but not a great choice for a hungry vegan.
Pros: Chocolate brownie
Cons: Cramped, Not much for vegans, No soya milk
