Amazing vegan dining experience! - Edit
After two weeks in Ecuador of eating plain veg on rice/pasta and your typical vegan tourist options, I didn't expect to find anything in Ecuador that did upscale vegan food. However, I decided to email a number of fine dining establishments in Quito just to see if they could do vegan.
Read moreThankfully, Chef Juan replied to my email quickly and was very happy to create a vegan version of their 8 course tasting menu for me. It was a world-class dinner with great explanations of ingredients, farm-to-table sourcing, and local foods. I am so happy I found this place, I couldn't recommend it more highly whether you're vegan or not. A lot of travel I do involves trying to explain that “no cheese, no milk, no butter” also means no ___ exact type of dairy product, but Juan at Quitu made sure to proactively ask about whether I wanted bee pollen in one of the dishes. Excellent attention to detail and I appreciate how accommodating they were.
