Full vegan menu for lunch but unfriendly staff - Edit
We came here for lunch and they had a full vegan menu which was absolutely delicious. The views are also great and we tried their wine with lunch which was very good.
Read moreHonestly I am rating this a bit lower just because of a really weird interaction with the staff there. When you walk in, there's a spot to go to to check in to the hotel, and there is a sign you can see when you walk in pointing to the restaurant. All of the receptionists were checking in hotel guests and we proceeded to the restaurant by following the signs in the front which seemed like what we needed to do since we were only there for lunch and not staying. A hotel receptionist chased us down and the very first thing he said to us was "you need to relax" and proceeded to berate us for about 2 minutes. Apparently he did not like that we did not check in with hotel reception first. I honestly would have left if we hadn't had reservations and drove 30 mins to get there. It was just very odd- it was an honest mistake and if he had just informed us nicely that would have been fine, but he was very rude and it was very uncomfortable. I normally leave out stories about individual servers because you never know when someone is having a bad day or something, but this was really jarring.

Ate there for lunch, has separate lunch and dinner menu - the lunch had a few vegetarian options that could be turned vegan. Mainly beyond meat and some pasta, average price is 15-16 eu which is a bit over the regular.

Absolutly amazing - Edit
The experience I had at Sao Bernardo is incredible. They created every evening a full vegan menu for me so I could enjoy like everybody else. There was not once only a salad or ice cream for dessert. They even made a whole cake just for me (and gave it to me for my way home the next morning). The kitchen was creative, innovative and high class. Fully understand the concept of veganism. An absolute MUST when in Douro Valley.
