Great Mexican food

After regularly being disappointed by sad excuses of veggie tacos elsewhere ordering from Quesadilla was awesome! Each taco and different dish creatively made Mexican recipes vegan, keeping them flavorful and filling. Really reasonably priced too. We really liked the Barbacoa Taco and Carnitas taco.

Delicious, fast, family owned.

Great menu beyond just tacos and burritos. Authentic Delicious fresh food served up quickly. Friendly and efficient staff. We come often!

Pros: Lots of vegan options & juices, Not just tacos and burritos, Authentic Regional flavors

Cons: Fake meat in everything, Some items (tamales) by default have fake meat

excellent food!!

I started coming here about 8 years ago, and every time I visit Chicago I get a meal here. The food is consistently some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I usually get tacos with a variety of vegan meats - my favorites are the chorizo and carnitas. The vegan horchata is also a must have. The staff is also consistently friendly and helpful, creating a nice atmosphere for eating, despite the rather run-down location. I highly recommend!!

Best tacos I’ve ever eaten - period.

My friend turned me onto this place a couple months ago and I was immediately in love. Their chorizo tacos are THE BEST tacos I’ve ever had. This is a great atmosphere with incredible food. This is also a completely authentic “ethnic” restaurant which doesn’t serve meat. That in itself makes this a great dining experience. Combine that with the great food and you get my favorite restaurant in Chicago.

Pros: Delicious food, Authentic experience, Very reasonable prices!

Cons: Hard to get to, not close to public trans

My new favorite restaurant in Chicago

Best vegan Mexican food that I’ve had in Chicago, and now that I think of it, probably favorite vegan food in the city. Period.

Mostly amazing but the vegan cheese is a sad joke.

This is probably some of the best if not the best Mexican food I’ve had since going vegan. The biggest problem I have with restaurants in general is that the food isn’t seasoned well enough and there isn’t enough flavor. I usually leave a restaurant thinking “between me, my mom or my grandma, we could make that better.” But this place???? Holy cow. Can’t complain at all about how the food tastes. I had tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos and desserts. Most of it was to die for.

The tres leached cake is great but the rice pudding isn’t as sweet as I’m accustomed to. The horchata “water” isn’t bad but I did wish it was more milky but it still satisfied the horchata craving.

THE WORST part was the vegan cheese. I’m pretty sure it’s just minced tofu with minimal seasoning. No taste. No melt no stretch, nada. I got a quesadilla and there was nothing that even resembled melty quesadilla goodness. Just a tortilla folded over food. Boo. The food is still amazing just don’t get the vegan cheese it’s a waste of money.

Pros: Hands down AMAZING food , Inexpensive

Cons: Vegan cheese is a joke , Horchata “water”??

Usually great, a tad inconsistent

Tons of options and usually fantastic, but I’ve had a couple meals that weren’t great. Vegan Horchata is worth it alone.

Best Vegan Authentic Mexican In town

I really miss authentic mexican food which could easily be made vegan by modifying the bean and rice recipes. This place has done that and more. the beans and rice contain no animal products and there's plenty of meat substitutes and vegan cheeses. Can't wait to eat here again.

The best!

I hit up Quesadilla every time I’m in town. The juices, the food... all amazing. Vegans - specify no cheese/cream.

Pros: Most things are or can be made vegan!

Cons: Tortas: bread & bacon - not vegan

authentic Mexican food

I've had different tacos and burritos but always end up getting the super veggie burrito with Tinga. It feeds me for 3 meals, no joke! All the food here is great, also a wide variety of fresh juice and is BYOB. The waitstaff has always been very friendly.

ok

Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff waited on us. Menu is very extensive and explanatory. Prices are cheap. I had both types of tamales which were decent. Also had the mushroom quesadilla which I wouldn't recommend. It was hot but not like pressed and grilled like i would have expected. a lot of mushrooms with a small amount of onions and daiya cheese inside. Bland.

Pros: extensive menu, friendly, cheap

Cons: ok food

Everything was delicious!

We ordered Tortas, a tamale, cake, and two horchatas which were humongous. I felt like the pricing was pretty reasonable. Just be sure to ask what is vegan or not because it’s not labeled!
Can’t wait to go back

Pros: not expensive

meh

We stood at the counter in front of 4 employees for 5 minutes before anyone asked what we wanted. It was weird. The food was authentic and tasty but I wouldnt eat it again. Btw there is no $5 foot long burrito. There are 3 identical menus all with different prices. I still don't know what I paid for.

My favorite place in Chicago.

I adore this place. Delicious, home-style mexican cooking. Very affordable and the portions are big. The staff is super-sweet. They have foods that you don't see in the US very often: pumpkin blossoms, nopales and huitlacoche, as well as a lot of really good meat-substitutes.

Pros: Pretty much everything is great.

Cons: Slightly unusual hours, so check before you go.

So good

Get the veggie cubano or their humongous super burrito & taste the flavors of the Mexican meats you've missed for so long... the barbacoa is to die for. Huge quesadillas, awesome salsas. The soup is always bomb & they have tons of unique juices & smoothies!

Pros: Tons of veg meat options , Dairy or veg cheese , Cheap

Such Fun!

Very humble storefront and neighborhood. Wonderful eating. I'd never seen a vegetarian Mexican restaurant before, and not just without meat--about everything is made with meat analogs. It is stated to be vegan friendly, but having eaten there a number of times when I go through Chicago, I don't think I've eaten any cheese on what I order right off the menu.

You can order at the counter, especially to go, or sit and be served. (If your server's English is halting, don't try to ask much alteration from the menu!)

If you can't handle the very spiciest of Mexican cuisine, be sure to ask. There are scads of taco choices, for instance; and I once just pointed at several that looked good (after all, it's all vegetarian!), but one of them turned out to be a bit much for my gringo tongue--ate it anyway, with tears flowing down my face!

Lots of juices if you're in to that sort of healthy drinks, but I've not yet tried any!

Pros: Great choices, wonderful taste, very fair prices.

Cons: Not the place to celbrate anniversary with wife!
