Highly recommend- excellent options

Can't say enough good things about Pub 500.
The kitchen and owners are consistently working very hard to bring new vegan options to the menu.
Located downtown near other bars and restaurants, it is great knowing Pub 500 has vegan choices that are delicious.

They also clearly mark the menu for gluten-free, etc.

Our favorite is their black bean burger with a side of peanut sauce. It's a great burger that does not disappoint.

Pros: multiple options to chose from, knowledgable staff, never disappointing.

black bean burger- win

Super impressed that their black bean burger is house made, from a recipe by Chef Jeremy (Greenhouse Grill in Arkansas), and not just some store bought brand. I really enjoyed it!

Just wish their side salad had more to it. Hopefully their vegan menu will grow!

Pros: Menu clearly marked, House made black bean burger

Cons: Expensive, Not many options

For the win!

We always eat at Pub 500 when we are in Mankato because they have a few vegan options that are appropriately sized portions (not too much food, just right) and really, really tasty!

Always welcoming

Pub 500 has added vegan foods based on working with the local vegan community. So, they are aware of what Vegan means and are good at labeling it. They offer some great bowls. I love the black bean peanut sauce bowl. They previously offered a Southwestern salad. It was a vegan version of a taco salad. It is no longer on the menu, but they have been able to make it for me since.
I enjoy having options on what we can eat, as well as knowing that my family also loves their food as well.
Tom, Jay and their great staff do a fabulous job making sure you are always welcome. They support the community in amazing, supportive and caring ways. You feel great supporting a place that is loved by their staff, customers and community. A favorite place to eat on Mankato.

Pros: Acurate labeling, Good tasting food, Friendly staff

Cons: Event menu has a few less veggie options

Nice vibe!

I went here and tried the Never Mooed Burger -which is the Impossible Burger. This was the first time I'd tried it, and I was amazed, because this is the closest thing I've had to meat since going vegan. It was a little weird only because it feels like eating meat. Next time I'd maybe get the black bean burger, because the price difference was insane.
That being said, I was impressed with the place. They had great options and a relaxed atmosphere. We played pool and had some beers. The service and food were great!

They care about vegans

I am so happy about the vegan options here. They are the best labeled vegan option in Mankato and St. Peter. But they even compete with Omni restaurants the have vegan options in the cities (I know- I work in Mankato but live in Minneapolis). They have a couple rice based bowls, the impossible burger and a vegan taco salad. And everything is learnt labeled! They actually have two vegan burger options (Impossible and black bean). They also know about gluten free and have that labeled.

Pros: Well labeled vegan options, Best variety of vegan options in Mankato, Great beer list

Cons: Higher cost for some vegan items

Our new favorite!

My daughter and I had dinner this evening at Pub 500 and couldn't have had a better experience. We were greeted immediately by one of the owners who was extremely welcoming. Our server, Erin, was cheerful and eager to discuss a few of the vegan dinner options. We were so happy to see there was more than just one option. My daughter and I did stick with the basic black bean burger but it was anything but basic. It had a bit of a kick with lots of flavor. We can't wait to return and try the more unique vegan options which all looked really interesting. Before leaving, the other owner, Tom, came over for a quick chat. We discussed vegan dining and expressed our appreciation for the options. It can be really hard to find a nice place to have dinner when you have a vegan diet! Our daughter attends college in St. Peter, which happens to be a city 15 miles away, with almost no vegan options. This restaurant was excellent and we would highly recommend it not only to people from Mankato but from surrounding areas such as St. Peter. Thumbs way up!
