We ordered both of the Dal dishes, medium hot. Both were delicious and spicy. The accompanying rice was also long grain basmati, fluffy and steaming. Highly recommend this restaurant in Hokitika, NZ
The server said two mains could be made vegan - the tadka dal and the vegetable jalfrezi - also the plain naan, roti, samosas, vegetable pakoras and onion bahjees. We tried both mains and a plain naan. They came with heaps of rice, we certainly didn’t leave hungry. The food wasn’t anything exciting though and wasn’t very spicy (we asked for medium) but given the lack of other vegan options around we were very happy to have this option.
4 vegan options - we ordered 3 of them. Everything was good, fine, but nothing to write home about. Would have made same decision, eating here, again, but just because of the paucity of other good vegan options in town.
Awesome food and awesome prices! Waiter was super helpful in finding out what was vegan and one thing we wanted wasn't so he checked with the chef to make sure it could be made vegan. The menu must have changed as we were able to get samosas, a choice of a few curries and also some breads and all was absolutely delicious! We were the only people in there for lunch on a weekday but I tried to lure more people in through the window!
I checked out this place to fill you in with some extra information, but didn't eat here so can't say anything about the taste. Prices are around 16 dollars a meal, they have a big vegetarian menu with the opportunity to turn it vegan.
One of the few options in Hokitika.
Went there on a quiet night. Waiter knew instantly what is vegan and what’s not - 2 mains. Sadly no vegan breads but I appreciated the honesty! Not a great decor or anything but food came fast and hot. Reasonably priced also.
